The room was clean and comfortable. James, the host, was very pleasant. We enjoyed our stay other than the (late night) noise from the spa above us and when garbage truck decided to empty the dumpsters at 2:30 AM. We were in the building to the left of the main one pictured. It had a nice common area and kitchen. The bathroom and shower were very nice. I didn't see a thermostat to control your room temperature but we were confortable.

The historical nature of the property is what first drew me to this bed and breakfast. It was built by the grandson of George Washington. The saving of it and the ca1914 house next to it was a noble task and well worth the effort. A fully furnished kitchen, clean bedroom and bath with a jet tub, porch with rocking chairs, and relative proximity of downtown shops and eating made this a great choice.

Wonderful place! Such a cute vibe. Nice rooms and facility, had jacuzzi tub in our room. Love the shared kitchen/cooking area (has pots and pans to use) and love that it has a fridge. Beds were very nice! James was wonderful host and greeter. Would come back again.

Room 7 was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The jetted tub was particularly nice. I did some cooking in the communal kitchen and it was well equipped. The coffee from the main building was fantastic! A good choice for anyone visiting Paducah.

Pretty sweet old Victorian home; we didnt get to stay in It though as we stayed ext door in the adjacent property - equally as nice as the advertised 1895 property. We were given a choice and we chose the property with an outdoor balconey and an ensuite room. We assume some rooms were occupied by long term guests as the kitchen area appeared pretty settled into. We were early to bed and early to rise after dinner downtown (just 1.5 mi) Standard coffee supplied - no breakfast option; but some tasty bakeries downtown. Only thing is that the thermostat was in the hallway and we assume the other occupants like the air a bunch cooler than us...but then again - we're Floridians and were cold all night with the ceiling vents (wouldnt close all the way) blowing down on us. All in all...good check-in with John. Very pleasant on site host with a plethora of local knowledge. We'd stay again when we're back in Paducah.

James was very helpful and accommodating, his service was top notch. He was kind enough to gift us a room upgrade to a different room which ended up being a little cooler, and the room and bathroom were exceptional and comfortable. There was also street parking available, and fridge/freezer access in common space. Room 9 (the one we originally booked) was small but homey, the only thing we noticed was that there was water leaking with dark stains on the ceiling. We learned we did need to let the staff know the night before if we wanted breakfast, we must have missed that somewhere in our booking so just an FYI for future guests.

Absolutely the best place I’ve EVER stayed in Paducah. They owner was extremely friendly, accommodating and made the entire experience amazing. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone staying in or around the area! It was a quiet, clean, comfortable & beautiful home! The kitchen was fully stocked to cook in which made the place feel more like an air bnb. & the bathroom was absolutely GORGEOUS with a huge jetted tub. It gives old farmhouse but with a modern vibe mixed in. Will be the only place I recommend to family/friends in the future.

We are not overly picky people, but…This was the worst hotel stay we have ever experienced. We arrived Friday about 2 a.m. I called at approximately 6 pm to let the “hotel” know we would be not be arriving until between 1 and two in the morning. This man answered the phone with a garbled greeting which sounded like hello with food in his mouth. I asked if this was hotel 1895 and he said it was, that the phone was routed to his cell phone. He said he went to bed around ten gave us two codes to the front door as well as our room door and told us where we could park. We arrived and had to figure out the lock system in the dark. We wandered until we found our room 11 upstairs. As I said, we had a late arrival, so when we got into our room after navigating the keypad door lock, which we were only able to see with my phone flashlight on, we reviewed the room we were in. The dresser and bathroom mirrors were dirty. There were toothpaste spatters all over the bathroom mirror and faucets, missing lightbulbs, only one nightstand, almost no toilet paper, no Kleenex or soap in the tub, etc. We decided to stay because it was two a.m. We saw James the caretaker next morning and asked for soap, which he did offer to get from the store. He spoke of his lack of help as talked of the kleptomaniac that had previously been staying in our room the previous month. We decided to stay because this rm was non refundable and we were next to the police. HUGE MISTAKE. Someone came into our room at 4a.m

Unusual place. Two different houses to stay in. Our room's lock didn't work, yet it was never fixed, The cleaning person never finished cleaning our room, so there was hair in the bath and only a handful of towels. The bath did not drain well at all. For $100 a night, I would rather stay at a chain hotel than the unusual decor and services we received at this location.

I extended my stay an extra night thru Expedia and left for a couple hours when I came back, before check in time, they were cleaning because the owner had told them to cancel my reservation and clean the room and mark it up. I finally got the room for the price reserved for but i realized the very dirty, dtug addicted looking staff apparently live in s room and treat the house as their own with her super sketchy looking boyfriend. Glad i cleaned the spa cuz it had chunks of nasty come out of it. If you just need a quick place to sleep for the night and you get a deal for 50 a night take it otherwise definitely not worth the $125 they tried to charge me, the kitchen was gross the fridge full of old takeout bags.

Front still has the historic look, not the whole house. House smells… yes it’s old but it can be aired out daily with fresh air. No towels, old soap in the bathroom. Bathtub half clean. Lots of old shampoo bottles laying around. Just very unprofessional Not a Hotell! This is a Hostel do not get fooled !! False information in advertising, bathroom was down the corridor. Bathrobe in the room was dirty. Coffee in the morning was brown water…small things but it all ads up to a bad review.

We were in the building to the left of the main one pictured. It had a nice common area and kitchen. The bathroom and shower were very nice. I didn't see a thermostat to control your room temperature but we were confortable.

No body there when we arrived to check in. The he explained how hotels.com doesn’t discribe the room properly as it has a bathroom but it’s in the hallway!! He swapped us out of the room and didn’t change us extra but he really didn’t want to. The room was very rustic and had mold in the shower. They also didn’t have a commercial washer and dryer and we can only assume that the comforter on the bed doesn’t get cleaned. We for sure will not stay here again. The entire place needs upkeeping

This is actually two houses, although the advertising mixes rooms and amenities from both into one description, making it appear that regardless of what room you choose online, you will have all of those amenities. When I got there to check in, my room turned out to be in the blue house. The room was beautiful, but the bathroom for it was down the hall. That not-so-private tiny room had a spa bathtub but also the facility’s washer and dryer that was in constant use. As a single female traveler, I was very uncomfortable with the situation. I asked for another room for the next two nights and received it—but I had to ask. Point being: before you choose a room online, call ahead and make sure it is not in the blue house (which is more like a hostel with people coming and going at all hours) and that it has a private bathroom and a spa tub, if that’s what you want. Not all rooms have a spa tub, even if they have a private bathroom. The spa products you’re warned not to take else you’ll pay for were a duke’s mixture of shampoo and conditioner like you get at Walmart and no body soap, at least in my case. As for the common areas in the blue house, the front porch was too small for rocking chairs and a drum set and chairs for a jam session took up most of the sitting room. The first room I had was very hot, so I had to open the windows. There was no coffee shop/cafe, and no snack/bar deli—just an alley that will take you to the Family Dollar.

Wonderful place! Such a cute vibe. Nice rooms and facility, had jacuzzi tub in our room. Love the shared kitchen/cooking area (has pots and pans to use) and love that it has a fridge. Beds were very nice! James was wonderful host and greeter. Would come back again.

Room 7 was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The jetted tub was particularly nice. I did some cooking in the communal kitchen and it was well equipped. The coffee from the main building was fantastic! A good choice for anyone visiting Paducah.

He was kind enough to gift us a room upgrade to a different room which ended up being a little cooler, and the room and bathroom were exceptional and comfortable. There was also street parking available, and fridge/freezer access in common space. Room 9 (the one we originally booked) was small but homey, the only thing we noticed was that there was water leaking with dark stains on the ceiling. We learned we did need to let the staff know the night before if we wanted breakfast, we must have missed that somewhere in our booking so just an FYI for future guests.

I extended my stay an extra night thru Expedia and left for a couple hours when I came back, before check in time, they were cleaning because the owner had told them to cancel my reservation and clean the room and mark it up. I finally got the room for the price reserved for but i realized the very dirty, dtug addicted looking staff apparently live in s room and treat the house as their own with her super sketchy looking boyfriend. Glad i cleaned the spa cuz it had chunks of nasty come out of it. If you just need a quick place to sleep for the night and you get a deal for 50 a night take it otherwise definitely not worth the $125 they tried to charge me, the kitchen was gross the fridge full of old takeout bags.

The saving of it and the ca1914 house next to it was a noble task and well worth the effort. A fully furnished kitchen, clean bedroom and bath with a jet tub, porch with rocking chairs, and relative proximity of downtown shops and eating made this a great choice.

Pretty sweet old Victorian home; we didnt get to stay in It though as we stayed ext door in the adjacent property - equally as nice as the advertised 1895 property. We were given a choice and we chose the property with an outdoor balconey and an ensuite room. We assume some rooms were occupied by long term guests as the kitchen area appeared pretty settled into. We were early to bed and early to rise after dinner downtown (just 1.5 mi) Standard coffee supplied - no breakfast option; but some tasty bakeries downtown. Only thing is that the thermostat was in the hallway and we assume the other occupants like the air a bunch cooler than us...but then again - we're Floridians and were cold all night with the ceiling vents (wouldnt close all the way) blowing down on us. All in all...good check-in with John. Very pleasant on site host with a plethora of local knowledge. We'd stay again when we're back in Paducah.

Everything about our one night stay was exceptional! The staff was quite friendly and accessible, the Victorian home was extraordinary and well-kept, and the breakfast was the best I've had anywhere! I love a place with a lot of history, and this place has it, for sure. The whole experience was worth much more than the modest nightly room rate!! Bravo!!

It was an Great stay and not far from family it had an weird smell but overall it was good. The Washer needs cleaned out it has Mold in the lip. And the Bfst cost was too high an person it should have been included in on our Stay.

Front still has the historic look, not the whole house. House smells… yes it’s old but it can be aired out daily with fresh air. No towels, old soap in the bathroom. Bathtub half clean. The only thing I would say needed work was the yard/landscaping. Needs trimming and weeding. It made us wonder if we were at right location at first. It would look much more inviting if the front had good landscaping. As for the houses themselves the were great. James does a great job, very welcoming and takes care of all your needs. Rooms are great. Great service.

The breakfast was over $20 a piece extra, so we passed and had an excellent experience at Mel's Diner that opens at 6am. We stayed in the guest annex, which was another house that L. A. Washington built in the 1920's. The remodeling done to the two houses was very high end, but they used residential grade fixtures that has not faired well with the rigors of commercial use. The fixture in the shower had to be jerry rigged to work and they had a huge shower head above the whirlpool bathtub- with no shower curtain. The mechanical access to the whirlpool was tacked up with black duct tape. They had a broken towel bar in the bathroom, which you couldn't use anyway because they put a mirror vanity table under it as an after thought. We needed the table as they were more interested in an antique style sink than providing counter space around the sink area. Cleaning the mirrored tables and polished black tile in the bathroom must be a housekeeping nightmare. The curtain rod in the bedroom area is damaged and is not easy to use. The quality of the remodeling was lovely, but they should focus as much on durability and function as on form. The maintenance of the facility is wanting. Off street parking is provided in a commercial lot across the street. Fun, but not as practical as it could be.
The breakfast was over $20 a piece extra, so we passed and had an excellent experience at Mel's Diner that opens at 6am. We stayed in the guest annex, which was another house that L. A. Washington built in the 1920's. The remodeling done to the two houses was very high end, but they used residential grade fixtures that has not faired well with the rigors of commercial use. The fixture in the shower had to be jerry rigged to work and they had a huge shower head above the whirlpool bathtub- with no shower curtain. The mechanical access to the whirlpool was tacked up with black duct tape. They had a broken towel bar in the bathroom, which you couldn't use anyway because they put a mirror vanity table under it as an after thought. We needed the table as they were more interested in an antique style sink than providing counter space around the sink area. Cleaning the mirrored tables and polished black tile in the bathroom must be a housekeeping nightmare. The curtain rod in the bedroom area is damaged and is not easy to use. The quality of the remodeling was lovely, but they should focus as much on durability and function as on form. The maintenance of the facility is wanting. So much nicer that a usual hotel. James at the front desk was great. Rarely have i slept in a more comfortable bed. It took me a minute to figure out the shower, but once I did it too was fine. I look forward to staying here again
