Sea Jay Motel and Marina

Sea Jay is an older establishment that has been and is being recently updated. It was clean and sufficient for the one night we needed a room. The pool area is being redone and construction is in progress. Our room was a small and had everything we needed for that night. Walls are very thin and I could hear our neighbors on both sides throughout the night.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The motel has a variety of family-friendly amenities, including pool toys and beach chairs and toys they encouraged us to use. The location is perfect for spending a day at the beach, and the pool was very kid-friendly (there were wide shallow ledges on either side, maybe a foot deep, perfect for non-swimmers to play). We look forward to returning one day. The negatives-this is an older property, and the walls were thin, so if you have a noisy neighbor, it's pretty loud. The shower was also pretty small-I don't know how I would have managed to shave in there. The parking was also kinda tight, so if you have a bigger vehicle, you would have some trouble.

All in all this was a terrific place to stay. The staff were all friendly & checked to see if anything was needed during the week that we stayed. Room was pretty quiet & the bed was really comfortable. I only had 2 complaints. The bathroom for the studio room is really tiny. My wife & I are not big people, but the bathroom was still a tight squeeze, especially the shower stall. If I were to stay here in the future I would spend a little more for one of the rooms with a larger bathroom. My other main complaint is about the pool hours. Staff is on the property from 9am to 8pm & that’s when the pool is open. It would’ve been nice to swim after 8 in the evening. Pretty disappointing that it closed so early.

This retro style motel was a great place to stay. The new heated pool was wonderful and the grounds were well kept and inviting. The staff were exceptonal. We would definitely come back!

Just stayed here from Jan 31-Feb 4th. Overall we like it. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: - great location, so close to the beach, trolley system, and so many bars and restaurants - super clean room, with everything we needed - awesome pool that was heated! which was an exciting surprise on arrival. - use of bikes which was a great way to get around fast. -easy check in and out - barbecue and seating area for guest use (if no one else is already using them) Cons: - the wifi in the rooms is horrible due to the concrete build. You literally had to sit on the balcony to get connection or sit as close to the door/window of the room as possible. - the shower took almost 10-15 mins to set or come to temperature, and then once in it fluctuated so much that you would freeze or burn at any random moment. - The shower is also so small it’s insane. We are average sized and we’re shocked at how little mobility we had (we were in the standard queen room for reference) - I wish they invested more in free rentable items like the bikes. Beach chairs and umbrellas don’t cost much so it seems like something they should supply complimentary, as we didn’t drive, and didn’t want to spend money on these items just to leave them behind. Other things to note: - be mindful that the air condition is per unit and very loud, although it works great! - this is a 2 storey motel with no elevator so be mindful of that! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would come again

The property is beautifully landscaped, conveniently located for fishing, beach activities, dining, and shopping. A peaceful retreat with friendly, accommodating staff.

Nice little motel. I booked two rooms, both with kitchenettes with full sized refrigerators, which was super nice to keep food costs under control. Comfy and clean and only a block from Treasure Island Beach. The pool was beautiful and warm, towels and pool noodles were available. There are several tables in the pool area, all have umbrellas.

A long time patron. One of the best kept secrets in Treasure Island. Clean comfortable rooms, nice location on the water, and close to the beach. Beautiful new pool, too. Great restaurants within walking distance. Three thumbs up!

The Sea Jay was incredibly clean. The bed was comfortable and the pool was a great temperature. Easy walking distance to the beach and restaurants and friendly staff. Wifi did not reach inside the room (on the patio only) and hot water was intermittent (a few minutes in a few minutes off). Other than that it was a great stay.

We had a great stay in this wonderful motel. The staff were very friendly and the place was spotlessly clean. The hotel sign must have been damaged by the hurricanes last year , it could do with repair. The rooms were clean, with a fridge and big tv with lots of tv channels. Free wifi was excellent also. What we didn’t enjoy was the air con unit in our room - it was so noisy we couldn’t use it at night and only could use it part of the time as the noise was so bad. Also the metal bed frame was creaky and didn’t seem very strong. We could also hear people talking in the room next to us, however that was noted in the welcome note we got. Overall it was a lovely place and excellent value for money, very close to the beach and about 15min walk to Johns Pass. We would definitely stay again.

Hotel property is absolutely pristine- the grounds are beautiful and perfectly kept and the pool is stunning and right next to the water. The staff were all lovely, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms were super clean and comfy. It’s our new favorite spot! Thank you for having us!!

We spent 3 days here. The room was spotless clean and the staff were very nice and extremely helpful. Very close to the beach. I highly recommend Sea Jay motel. Will definitely stay here again.

Super cute place and super convenient location! Our only complaints were that it seemed the prior guests' trash was not taken out and the guests above us were walking so heavy early in the morning. Actually, pretty annoying to the point we were woken up and could not fall back asleep. For this reason, during our next stay, we would request to stay on the 2nd floor.

I really, really loved my stay at the Sea Jay Motel in Treasure Island. The whole property radiates a fun retro, mid-century modern vibe—think Golden Girls meets classic Florida beach motel. Parking was easy, and both the rooms and grounds were spotless. My room had a good-size fridge, microwave, Keurig with coffee and cream, and two complimentary water bottles. The shower is small but fits the historic charm. Location is perfect—just a short, easy walk to the beach—with a phenomenal pool and classic Treasure Island views. Communication was quick and friendly, and every staff interaction matched that can-do energy. As a self-confessed hotel snob and usual Hilton loyalist, I was blown away by how clean, stylish, and welcoming this place is. Can’t wait to return

Pros: nice location, good price, clean room, fun nostalgic decor. The staff were very nice. The grounds were very clean and tidy. Cons: we stayed in room 3 which the smelled very musty/mildewed and nothing could be done to air it out. The windows don’t open. We were there for four days and the room always smelled bad. There are room air conditioners that are insanely loud and annoying. There is no fan (or operable window) in the bathroom either so this made for more uncomfortable situations.

What a pleasant surprise! Super clean, easy walk to the beach, nice pool! Our room had 2 separate bedrooms and full kitchen. Highly recommend!

The young lady in the office was friendly and helpful. However, the air conditioner was very noisy and the metal bed made noise every time I sat on the bed or moved when lying down.

Room is sparce which is ok but bed tended to move if you turned over. But most importantly.. my shower ran out of hot water and it never warmed up again. My husband didn't get a shower even after waiting an hour for water to heat... it never did.

Overall, this is a pretty good place to stay, with a really nice pool that gets heated by the sun all day. But it currently has a 9.2 rating on hotels.com and I just don’t think it warrants that rating, primarily because the walls are super thin. And not only are they super thin, but the rooms are separated by a door that locks, so the problem is not security, but you can totally hear the TV from the next room. On top of that, there were weird people stomping late into the night, not on the room right above mine, but on the room next to the room above mine, and I could hear that stomping and what sound like moving furniture late into the night. So even though I did like this hotel for the most part, at night, it was a somewhat stressful place to try and sleep.

This place is strange. There's a door between the rooms and you can hear whatever is going on next door.

The window air conditioner in our room was extremely noisy, making it hard to sleep!!

Older property but clean! Joey and David were awesome! After hours check in was a breeze and communication was excellent.

We stayed 7/27-7/30. We booked the family suite and I couldn't have been happier. We loved the retro look! The property is older and incredibly well maintained! The mattresses, memory foam were outstanding. The kitchen with a full size refrigerator was spotless as was the rest of the suite. Staff could not have been nicer and were on-site throughout the day. The exterior of the facility is maintained meticulously. The walk to the beach is two minutes; with food options a short walk away. The area borders on residential so it is very quiet and we felt safe. Love the code to enter the room rather than keeping track of keys! Will definitely staff again.

I will absolutely stay here again! The front desk gentleman was very welcoming and kind, the room was tidy and up to date. The bed was surprisingly comfortable! Zero complaints! Everyone I came in contact with was real nice and friendly :)

This is a hidden gem.Very clean and well maintained.The new pool is sparkling clean with nice lounge chairs and towels.I enjoyed sitting at the dock.Easy walk to the beach and great restaurants.

The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, needs met, and treated us as family.

Stayed for one night and it was quite nice. People were friendly and room was very clean and it was quiet. Very close to beach, walking distance to restaurants. Very peaceful stay

We had a very nice stay here. It is an older motel, but well cared-for. It was very clean and well supplied(coffee pods, dishes, etc.). The staff were super nice and friendly, and it was NOT party central even on a summer weekend. It is an easy walk from the property to the beach, and there are many local shops, dining nearby.

This was our third year at Sea Jay, the beach is just across the canal. You can take a bike ride on the boardwalk. Restaurants and shopping within a mile at John's Pass.

Very cool old world Fla Motel maintained very nicely, with a state of the art swimming pool system. Did not utilize the nice shuffleboard court. Very clean, bed appeared to be almost folding/roll-out style framed queen, but it was pretty comfortable. Bathroom tiled in vintage tiling, really cool, shower is tight but gets the job done. Very convenient to main drag, beach, stores etc, and off island exit to St. Pete. Only gripe if you can call it that, wish they had a 2 double bed option as opposed to all queen/queen plus roll-out, etc. Also, great communication from staff before check-in.

I picked this hotel based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! It was clean, the staff were all amazing, we could easily walk to beaches and shopping. Pool was fabulous. Will be using this hotel again in the future.

Very close to public beach. Rooms where clean and staff was helpful. Close to Waffle House and other food places. The rooms are retro style 60"s 70"s. Cool vibe Would come back again.
