Love the location by the water, the proximity to Cedar Sauna, outdoor hot tub - all great. This was our third visit in the past ~4 years. This trip we were really disappointed. The room did not feel sufficiently clean - caked on grimy dust on the base boards in the bathroom, mildew around the outside of the shower, the hallway outside the room smelled strongly like urine, the room HVAC was giving off a rotten odor like it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time, the pillows were yellowed under the pillowcases…we thought maybe it was just our room but our friends’s room also had a bad smell and their TV didn’t work. The windows in the 4th floor rooms don’t open so we couldn’t even air it out. The restaurant also wasn’t as great as it had been. Bread on sandwich was burned, greens were wilted like they’d been sitting in the window…staff were sitting at the bar talking miserably about how many hours they were working and I overheard one say they took a nap between shifts in the parking lot because they were so exhausted. We really loved our past experiences and hope that whatever is happening behind the scenes can be remedied.

Room is beautiful and very clean! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful view from outside patio. We ate both dinner for our anniversary and breakfast at the Silos restaurant on site. Would recommend this establishment to couples or families. Would stay again in a heart beat! Thank you Pier B!

I don’t want to encourage more people to know about this gem, but it is truly a special place. I can certainly understand why it is so expensive! We’re not really s’mores people, but they provide s’mores kits and there are a dozen, or more, fire pits around the property to make them. If you are a social person, this is great. We didn’t use the saunas, but we saw people going from the sauna then plunging into the designated “pool” in Lake Superior. The views are great from most places on the property. The Silos restaurant had great food, and they were so fast! So much more to talk about, but discover that on your own!
