Bel and The Dragon-Kingsclere

Very busy, definitely worth booking for your meal, the food was more Gastro Pub than normal but lovely none the less. Great staff. Quirky and old building with sloping floors. Very nice bed in the bedroom. Only slight downside is you can hear the bar etc downstairs until they close but if you are not an early to bed type of person its fine. VERY little parking onsite but there is other parking in the village.

We were delayed to 9pm and were unable to get through on the phone to let the pub know, however, check in was OK when we got there. The room was very cold on arrival but warmed up in an hour after the heater was turned on. It's a lovely pub and the room was nice, however, our room (called "Cannon", a premier room) was right over the bar, very noisy in the evening, and again in the morning with a very early delivery of clanking beer barrells. Ask for a quiet room!!
