Parking was a fair distance at the Q. Did not find out about the hotel discount until we had already parked. It would have been nice to be advised about that before hand. Overall very happy with location short walk to the castle and Royal mile

Pros: Easy to find Great location Brian on desk was top notch Lift Washer/dryer Kitchen well stocked Bed comfortable Great bathroom Very clean and spacious Cons: Very noisy bar directly across street and open until 1 am made for late nights Washer/dryer instructions not the greatest TV a little wonky to figure out No early check-in after a red-eye Very hot, but fan supplied I would stay again if guaranteed a room at the back side of the building, but if not, then I would pick another as bar was overbearing every night (4 night stay). We had booked a one bedroom and we’re given a studio. The apartment had not been cleaned, kitchen floor was sticky, chattered glass on the carpet, radiator thermostat head was broken and on the floor. Impossible to close the velux. Hair around the bathroom sink. Lift was not working and we were on the third floor. Other guests came in at 03:30am drunk and making a lot of noise on the same floor as us. Street noise all through the night despite being a Sunday night. Won’t return to this place.

An excellent location with room for the whole family at a reasonable price. Pros: - walkable area, lots of amenities - clear check-in instructions, with flexible check-in and out options - cab service to airport that was so easy and cheap compared to many other options - can add on breakfast if you want - elevator Cons: - because of the age of the building, the plumbing uses a macerator. This is loud. - lack of hooks in the bathrooms, and places to set toiletries in the showers - a few cosmetic blemishes like dents in the wall - location a bit noisy outside with nightlife, but ear plugs solve that - some instructions on operating the appliances could be helpful Would definitely stay again!

Apartment 3. Two rooms. Bedroom sealed like a Tomb and as hot as an oven - no aircon, no way to open windows, only a small ineffective FAN. Even with Heating turned down to minimum room unbearably hot. Fridge the opposite - was turned up to maximum and froze pepsi bottle and (more seriously) insulin stored in Fridge overnight. Great location, but overall not a good nights sleep so wont be back...

We stayed for a couple of nights in December - the 1 bed flat was good overall. One thing we noticed was bin bags full of rubbish left in the lift- they were there every day of our stay, we’d go out and come back with the bin bags still there and smelly. Avoid the lift and use the stairs!

I would have loved to stay here longer, and we would definitely stay here again. The staff was very communicative, there was a variety of food options; it’s close enough to main attractions to be accessible via walking while also avoiding the more populated areas. We had a two bedroom suite that was perfect for the four of us. It had comfy beds, two full bathrooms, a kitchen area equipped with dishes and appliances for convenience and a feel of a home away from home. The elevator is two person max, but that’s fairly typical for Edinburgh. We were on the top floor, and the stairs were still manageable. We were very pleased with our stay and how conveniently located it was.

The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable and very well equipped. The entry was rather shabby, but once inside everything was warm and welcoming. It was great value for money for an apartment so close to the centre of Edinburgh

As soon as we checked in we noticed the light in the bathroom was broke and flickering non stop. It was difficult to be in the bathroom at all with this light as it genuinely felt like a room used for torture. There was no reception as it was a Sunday so couldn’t report there. I called to report this immediately and was told I would receive a call back in 5 minutes. An hour later I had still received no call back so I called again and was told they forgot to call me back but that they couldn’t get a hold of the duty manager. He said he would continue to try contact the duty manager to get it fixed for us. I told them I didn’t want to wait about any longer and I was told this was ok as the duty manager could access the room anyway even if we weren’t in. Needless to say this wasn’t fixed when we returned at 10pm that evening and I received no further update at all, even now. I was here for the fringe and dealing with this meant staying in the aparthotel for much longer than I wanted to meaning we missed out. The issue itself left us with pounding headaches and flashing that seemed to continue well after leaving the room. This is so dangerous but in particular to those with epilepsy or prone to seizures. Overall a disappointing stay. In addition to the above, room was warm (although a fan provided) and too bright (only a blind that didn’t keep light out), place wasn’t very clean (mould and dirt across the flat). Loved our stay. Beds were comfy and really appreciated how clean it was. It’s in a great location and was easily walkable to restaurants, shops and the train station. We would definitely recommend the property and will stay here again when we return to Edinburgh.

The apartment is very central. Only thing is the night time noise. I was up most of the night because of the music from the club next door which went on until 3am on a Monday night. Room was well equipped. The sofa desperately needs binned it was covered in stains and looked dirty. The carpet also needs a good shampoo or replaced.

A mixed review - apartments themselves were very comfortable. However, my room was on the second floor and above a pub/club, which lead to considerable noise until 345am - it might not be every night, but I would expect Thursday through Sunday (at least). Appreciate that it's outside of the control of Spires, but contributed to a grim night of little sleep.

Excellent place and location. Great instructions. Very clean and given what we paid for hotels, it’s very reasonable. 2 bedrooms. One bedroom had a queen and single. Other bedroom queen. 2 baths with showers. Nice living area. Lots of towels. No complaints. If you need an elevator, keep in mind you have to walk up 5 steps or so, so wheelchairs might be a problem.

We had a two bedroom suite that was perfect for the four of us. It had comfy beds, two full bathrooms, a kitchen area equipped with dishes and appliances for convenience and a feel of a home away from home. The elevator is two person max, but that’s fairly typical for Edinburgh. We were on the top floor, and the stairs were still manageable. We were very pleased with our stay and how conveniently located it was.

Lovely clean apartment with friendly staff. Unfortunately it is above a nightclub that’s open until 3am and you can hear the music and feel the bass of the club reverberate throughout the building. Not conducive to a good night’s sleep. Great location apart from being above the nightclub!

Parking was a fair distance at the Q. Did not find out about the hotel discount until we had already parked. It would have been nice to be advised about that before hand. Overall very happy with location short walk to the castle and Royal mile

It was just ok. The studio was small and a bit outdated. I’m not sure if the cleaning wasn’t the greatest or it wasn’t just well maintained, honestly maybe both. Washroom below average too. Location was good and convenient. Staff wasn’t friendly and Don’t even think about early check in, late check out or bag storage… zero chances.

Great location- convenient to transportation (3 blocks from the airport tram) and great dining options. Very easy checkin. We loved the washing machine and well-stocked kitchen. Plenty of room and very comfortable beds. We were there for the last weekend of the Fringe so we heard some street noise but that was expected. Very helpful reception staff.

As soon as we checked in we noticed the light in the bathroom was broke and flickering non stop. It was difficult to be in the bathroom at all with this light as it genuinely felt like a room used for torture. There was no reception as it was a Sunday so couldn’t report there. I called to report this immediately and was told I would receive a call back in 5 minutes. An hour later I had still received no call back so I called again and was told they forgot to call me back but that they couldn’t get a hold of the duty manager. He said he would continue to try contact the duty manager to get it fixed for us. I told them I didn’t want to wait about any longer and I was told this was ok as the duty manager could access the room anyway even if we weren’t in. Needless to say this wasn’t fixed when we returned at 10pm that evening and I received no further update at all, even now. I was here for the fringe and dealing with this meant staying in the aparthotel for much longer than I wanted to meaning we missed out. The issue itself left us with pounding headaches and flashing that seemed to continue well after leaving the room. This is so dangerous but in particular to those with epilepsy or prone to seizures. Overall a disappointing stay. In addition to the above, room was warm (although a fan provided) and too bright (only a blind that didn’t keep light out), place wasn’t very clean (mould and dirt across the flat). This review could have been more detailed and positive if my request for refund on one night had be prioritized. My travel agent advised, just before we stayed at Spires, that our return air flight had been moved forward by 24 hours. Consequently, our pre-booked stay of 6 nights was shortened to 5 nights. Extensive email communication with Craig Duguid, National Sales Manager, of Spires, followed and at all times he hid behind Terms and Conditions to avoid reimbursement for the lost night of accommodation, effectively condoning corporate theft by taking payment without providing any service. Hence what might have been a more than satisfactory stay and positive review, is now dealt with the indifference that Spires Apartments showed to my request

A mixed review - apartments themselves were very comfortable. However, my room was on the second floor and above a pub/club, which lead to considerable noise until 345am - it might not be every night, but I would expect Thursday through Sunday (at least). Appreciate that it's outside of the control of Spires, but contributed to a grim night of little sleep.

Although apartment was clean and comfortable, it was directly above a very loud and noisy bar/nightclub! Unable to get any sleep until after 2am when the music stopped. Glad i hadnt booked the apartment for my young family, as i was thinking of doing so in the future before i experienced last night! Such a shame as the apartment was very nice.

Pros: - walkable area, lots of amenities - clear check-in instructions, with flexible check-in and out options - cab service to airport that was so easy and cheap compared to many other options - can add on breakfast if you want - elevator Cons: - because of the age of the building, the plumbing uses a macerator. This is loud. - lack of hooks in the bathrooms, and places to set toiletries in the showers - a few cosmetic blemishes like dents in the wall - location a bit noisy outside with nightlife, but ear plugs solve that - some instructions on operating the appliances could be helpful Would definitely stay again!

The check in process when you are arriving after 5pm is terrible!! I messaged days before to get the information and was told that the codes would be with on day of arrival. By 8pm on day of arrival still no message or email. I actually started to panic a bit as I had a tired child after playing sport all day. After quite a lot of effort I finally found a number to call only to be told I didn’t have a booking. He finally realised I was in Scotland not wales and found by booking and problem solved. I wasn’t impressed at all. I’ve messaged 5 times now and not had a response to apologise. The apartment was distinctly average and I didn’t get any sleep as so much noise coming from street all night long, Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Still awaiting my email confirming the entry code to the building and flat. Had to ring the emergency number to get in as received no codes to get in the front door. Was told this would be sent as priority…still no email. Eventually got in and after a 6 hour drive we wanted a shower but no towels. After numerous attempts messaging on the hotels.com app (no reply), no reception (only mon-Fri), we then had to ring emergency duty manager who after 3 phone calls and 40 minutes said that the company had ran out of linen and there was no towels. No communication regarding this. Was told we would get some delivered at 9am the next day (told the housekeeping would coming in 1 hour earlier especially to give us some towels). Again, I’m still waiting on these. No one came to our door. Zero communication. To top it all off we got no sleep whatsoever as being directly above a club which is open until 3am is not ideal. No rest, unable to wash, would never stay again. Poor customer service.
