Above Tide Motel

Very clean. Wonderful view of Seymour Narrows and Quadra Island. Enjoyed ocean wave sounds all night. Old but clean. Parking was challenging.

LIKE: Motel was convenient to city centre and commercial eateries; Quiet, scenic patio; comfortable bed and room. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: Parking spaces limited; difficult entry ledge on driveway (when leaving from office frontage).

I needed a hotel to break up a drive and this was a great option for price and location. The person at the front desk waited for me to show up and the check-in experience was super easy. The parking was tight as there were a few huge pick up trucks whick made it really hard to get out of the car.

I LOVED my stay here! The view is incredible. I could step outside my room onto grass right next to the ocean. At night you see the lights of Quadra island over the river. Just beautiful. Lana on reception was great and was super helpful if ever I needed anything. The owner alerted me to the dolphins passing too which I was very happy to see and there were hummingbirds flying around the garden, I even saw deer on the beach. It was a quick and nice walk into town, everything in the room worked as it should and there was an on site laundry which was really useful. The only thing I would change for the future would be the mattress as it was a bit too squishy, but other than that everything was perfect and I would love to stay again!

Poor parking, room was ok, but tv had 1 channel. Bthrm hardly any water pressure

Nice waterfront property. The parking lot was hard to get around in . Very little room to maneuver your car around . Very little space between the retaining wall and the building .

It was a unique little place. We had tha downstairs unit and it was a gem. Cute lil courtyard for our own personal use, amazing view. Room was small but cozy and everything you need. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker and view. Bed super comfy. I would definitely reccommend. I wish we had booked 2 nights instead of 1.

I didn’t know they had a laundry facility. I was so pleased to find out that they did! Everyone was so welcoming and helpful! Our room has a beautiful deck with a view of the bay. Very pleased!

No faucette on tub, had to fill with shower to bath - 30 minutes , also had to use shower to fill kettle. Keurig coffe thing - single cup, too much moop, not good coffee. Can hear peop[le next door talk, snore, fart,....some sound proofing would be good. real tight parking. FD person was nice, happy. OK location.

The property is fantastic, couldn't be closer to the water and the outdoor seating areas were perfect.

Super clean. Older building but has been nicely updated. Loved the sheets (not standard motel-white). Comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchenette.

Der Ausblick war super. Der Fußboden im Zimmer war sehr dreckig. Aus dem Wasserhahn im Bad kommt kaum Wasser. Das Bett ist sehr weich. Es gibt keine Eismaschine.

Unfortunately our room was very dirty. I took film footage of the bed ledge covered in hair and dirt. I had to plug in my charger behind the night stand and it was filthy, so bad. The people were nice and the bathroom toilet/shower/sink were clean, so that was good!

Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig und die große Küche gut ausgestattet. Trotz Lage an der Straße war es im Zimmer selbst ruhig und der Balkon auf den Ozean bot eine tolle Aussicht. Das Zimmer roch leider etwas muffig und der Boden war nicht überall sauber. Daher gibt es Abzüge bei der Sauberkeit. Die Mitarbeitenden waren sehr freundlich.

Ocean front. However very dated, poor parking facilities, found cockroach in tub, showerhead is not convenient for above average height and size. Also very limited amenities.

Lovely staff, when I went to put things in the fridge I smelled mold and saw a bunch of it still remaining in the empty fridge. Not a good first impression. Beds, thankfully, were clean after careful inspection and comfortable.

There were silverfish in the room and in the bed. Be cautious when booking this motel.

friendly check-in/out. rooms have odd set-up, guests need to stand up to turn on/off bedside lighting, no fan in bathroom, water in shower does not maintain hot/cold (reported). had to move furniture to find outlet for charging device. good budget choice, good waterfront view, welcoming staff.

The location was good as you could walk downtown. The view from the balcony was amazing. The bed was pretty good. The room was clean. The ac unit was super loud. We were surprised that the building is quite old. We expected more for the price. Location and the view is what you pay for.

Nice place but needs a/c in the main room

Stayed here for one night after a kayaking trip that finished near Alder Bay in the afternoon. The lower rooms on the river side are shaded in the afternoon and quiet. The rooms and beds are relatively small, so if you have a lot of gear that you need to sort or pack you might prefer somewhere with larger rooms.

Good balcony views. If you are upstairs remember there are people below. Don’t be heavy footed

Very basic old decor. A lot of traffic noice. Bed was comfortable. It was clean. It was too expensive for what was there.

De accomodatie is erg verouderd. Badkamer met name. Ik sliep aan de kant van het water op de begane grond. Het is een erg gehorig motel. Mijn kamer was wel schoon.

This old motel is thoughtfully looked after. Our ground floor small room was well appointed with double bed, table & two chairs, coffee table & two sitting chairs, microwave and bar fridge plus Kuerig and kettle, 2 mugs & 2 glasses. Other dishes and utensils were available for free from the front desk. The window was tiny so no real view from the room but a cafe table and 2 chairs on the grass outside were lovely when it was warm enough to sit out. Some units have wooden platforms for the tables. The landscaping is not well looked after but the view is great. The unit looked freshly painted and was very clean, especially the bathroom, which had generous supplies of Kleenex, bath tissue and (cleverly) single packets of shampoo and conditioner and soap. Lighting was minimal and cheaply retrofitted with one ceiling fixture over the bed and three small portable lamps, over the table, at one side of the bed and over the microwave. Windows were newer vinyl with screens and there was a small air conditioner unit. The thermostat did not appear to work but we were comfortable. There was a metal set of utility shelves taking up most of the closet space with room for only a couple of hangers. The bed had budget linens and a mattress that felt overly soft but was surprisingly comfortable. Below ground room was very quiet with no road noise, even though motel is on the main highway. Staff was friendly and thoughtful. Overall, good choice for short stays on a budget.

Staff were very friendly and the view was awesome

Great staff. Didn't get her name, but the lady at the desk was very friendly and very helpful. Went out of her way to help with a small issue. The view is incredible. Stayed 2 nights and saw cruise ships go past our balcony on both nights. We will be back again for sure!

Highly unprofessional individual behind the desk, the guy behind the desk came out to borrow smokes from me at the smoking area. And completely interrupted me and my crew as we were having a discussion. No cable TV, no housekeeping.

Both had spectacular views from the second level and comfortable furniture both on the balcony and in the guestroom. The suite was well-outfitted with dishwasher, full fridge/freezer. stove, microwave, coffee pot, dishes etc. Very clean and while an older property the rooms have been nicely updated. Friendly staff. Would recommend!

Easy to access and a nice location. Parking is a bit strange and it is easy to hear everything from the other rooms around you. Wonderful staff!

Stayed here 2 nights. It is maybe a 20 minute walk from the whale watching station. Nice staff and room

Our room had incredible views of Campbell River! Beds were comfy. Nothing fancy, but very doable and a good bargain.

It was a basement suite, a bit old. But the location is great, right on the ocean and staff were friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Above Tide Hotel. Although the motel is rustic and does show its age and wear, it is clean, comfortable, and the management staff is so friendly and accommodating. The rooms also have a balcony with a front row view of Quadra Island and the Discovery Passage - so beautiful and calming. It's just a few steps away from the Campbell River Museum and a few minutes walk down to the town with all of is docks, shops, and restaurants.

Great view of the water, comfortable balcony, close walk to downtown. The grounds would greatly benefit from heavy pruning of the blackberry bushes. Host was friendly and helpful.

The view is fantastic and it's a nice walk downhill to many pubs and restaurants.

This little motel is a gem. Small Kitchenette rooms with an unparalleled view of the water and islands. The staff is super friendly. Our first floor room looked out on a garden with tables and chairs where we had our breakfast and dinner.

Lady at check in was great, very friendly and helpfully pointed out the snacks, food and even ice cream for kids, available to purchase if needed. My room was very cosy, clean and an outdoor seating area with water view. I grabbed my laptop and did my end of day reporting with the best view, at the outdoor table. Watched the huge cruise ships cruise by and the fishing boats heading to harbour. Hotel is older, no elevator and adequate parking. A room somewhere above me was populated with a heavy swearer, every 2nd word so very annoying but I went out for dinner, came back and they had quieted down, coffee, snacks, individual creamers in the fridge for coffee - my fave! The only complaint I have is the weird sheet set on the bed which felt SO synthetic combined with the pillow & mattress protectors. Just use cotton please! You can’t beat the ocean view for the price.

The view out of the room was beautifully, wach room has a balcony that looks over the ocean and as you wake up you can watch the sunrise. It was magical. And a bonus was theu provide real cream for your morning coffee not just coffee mate!

My biggest goals in finding a place in Campbell River was being on the water side of 19a and having a kitchen to save some money. This place was perfect. Big room with one queen in a separate bedroom and one facing the water. A full kitchen, full size fridge, and clean bathroom. The balcony had an amazing view and we sat out there watching boats and eagles our entire stay. And no traffic noise! Since our time crossed with Canada Day, we were able to walk into town (a mile?), enjoy the parade, vendors and food trucks, then walk home with no worries about parking. Owner Paul was an absolute gem and was very eager to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommend!!!

Views cannot be beat! Room is cozy and has good kitchen set up. Basic but really worth the reasonable price! Minutes to downtown and marina so convenient.

They definitely could use some maintenance around the building. There is a small patio that overlooks the ocean, but if they let the blackberries and bushes get much taller the view will be gone. The place itself was clean inside but extremely dated. No restaurant on site but there is one at the hotel next to it. Parking was not terrific. I know it’s summer and rates prices are higher but it’s not worth $223 a night taxes in.
