Beautiful bar & restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable. We were only staying to catch a flight the next morning which worked perfectly for us, despite an early checkout we were able to take some breakfast to eat in the airport. Strongly recommended, we’ll definitely go back.

We had booked The George as we were flying from Bristol Airport early in the morning and it was only a 10 minutes drive away. Car parking facilities were great with plenty of spaces, however very dark as there was no lighting. The bar was spacious, as was the restaurant. The food was delicious. Lovely big beer garden with a great seating area. Rooms were comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was continental which was perfect for us as were left the premises at 3.30am. All in all a fabulous stay and would definitely book to stay there again.

Booked here because of its proximity to Bristol airport but it didn't disappoint. Ample parking, nice beers and food (pity they had ran out of steaks!). For early risers they prepare a continental breakfast the evening before so you can always get something no matter at what time you have to catch your flight. Wouldn't mind to come back and be able to try those steaks.

Very handy and comfortable /clean overnight stay before early morning flight at Bristol Airport. Very easy 15 mins to Airport at 4am. Great check out at that time and even had a continental breakfast available. Well thought out. Highly recommend! Also we had good food in the evening and helpful and friendly staff. Lovely Somerset pub. Easy, clean, comfortable and welcoming. Will return!

We made a very last minute booking for a brief stay for an early morning flight. We were made to feel very welcome in this lovely pub. They went out of their way to tell us there would be no food available in the evening due to a flood but we were amazed a breakfast was left ready for us if we wanted it at whatever time in the morning. Really comfortable and clean rooms and a lovely cosy country pub setting. Will definitely stay again. Thank you.

Continental breakfast only on my stay which was left out overnight as there were no staff there in the morning. Stale pastries, toast and cereal only. Not acceptable at the price i paid for the night. No milk for the tea. Left and got breakfast elsewhere. Other than that the room was ok. Shower drain was blocked though so had to stop the shower flooding the bathroom with towels. Meal at night was great and the staff were efficient.

Arrived, nice welcome; taken to room via a hazardous staircase (I am disabled); room seemed ok until we noticed the poorly maintained and unclean bathroom; went down for food at 645pm, to be told food service closed at 6pm but no mention when checking in; told that breakfast (i .e. pastries etc) would be laid out at 3am for early starters, nothing except juice, toast, kettle etc. Nice pub, with grounds, but lacking as a b and b.

Lovely pub and convenient location, I stayed as I had a very early flight the next day. Was told a continental breakfast would be laid out the night before to help myself to in the morning… it was a Kellogg’s variety pack and sone bread. Room was nice and pleasantly decorated, bathroom was mouldy, just needed a good scrub. Price felt a bit high for what it was but I’d stay again if I needed to.

Liked beds & pillows. Pub atmosphere good. Staff young and inexperienced and no breakfast available when needed at 8.30-9am. No one to speak to about any problems and generally felt it was bad value for money. Carpets in my and my sister's room were dirty although the rooms were very nice. It feels like it has lost it's way possibly because of new management? I would have liked a partial refund for the lack of breakfast but there was no one to speak to.

The staff and food and service was outstanding and because I travel regularly on business and pleasure, and would like to stay again at this wonderful hotel, unfortunately my room lights seemed dodgy because they kept flickering whenever I used the light switch, plus also the toilet seat fixing had been botched up with tape and was practically falling off!

Stayed here for business. Room was fine other than the window blind was broken. Breakfast was very self-service, no cooked breakfast option, but there was bread for toast, croissants, jam etc. I felt the evening meal was a little expensive for what it was, but it was nice. A functional stay. Room was small with nowhere to hang clothes but was clean- although en-suite bathroom looked tired. Breakfast was left in dining space with limited choice and no on-site staff to assist. Bizarrely pub closed at 10pm with all staff left but music still playing until late. No one around to speak to in order to have it turned off.

On arrival really pleased as property beautiful, checked in and told would only be serving pizza in restaurant, went to room Custer which was nice apart from bathroom , smelt of dirty water , shower drain filthy , body wash empty all others old , went to restaurant was advised hotel taken over 2 weeks ago limited food in restaurant , no starters , small range of meals which was not restaurant standard just pub grub , no cocktails available as staff were not trained , overheard discussion between the manager and a young woman who was confirming a booking she had made prior to take over , Manager was very rude and unhelpful and was not going to honour . We paid £ 131.00 for a room which was advertised with restaurant and cocktails available , we should have been refunded part payment, we did not complain as pointless all that the manager kept saying was we have just taken over

Beautiful building very clean and cosy. Check in was stress free and the guys who checked us in were friendly and efficient. The only down side was that service was a little slow in the evening in the restaurant. We had to ask for dessert menu and bill.

Great stay excellent Room, Food was fantastic . I made a mistake with my booking and the staff sorted the problem for me. David went above and beyond so big thank you. And for that I believe he should have a bonus or a pay raise.

Very handy and comfortable /clean overnight stay before early morning flight at Bristol Airport. Very easy 15 mins to Airport at 4am. Great check out at that time and even had a continental breakfast available. Well thought out. Highly recommend! Also we had good food in the evening and helpful and friendly staff. Lovely Somerset pub. Easy, clean, comfortable and welcoming. Will return!

The stay was overshadowed by the lack of breakfast. We stayed overnight following a 60th birthday celebration. One of the thing we were looking forward to was the “Breakfast served daily until 10:30”. This is actually a not very interesting selection of help yourself breakfast cereals, yogurts, bread, day old croissants, hot water for tea or coffee. Certainly not the breakfast we were expecting and not a member of staff insight. If we were aware that this was The George’s idea of “Breakfast served daily until 10:30” we would have booked somewhere else. Very disappointing😔.

Continental breakfast only on my stay which was left out overnight as there were no staff there in the morning. Stale pastries, toast and cereal only. Not acceptable at the price i paid for the night. No milk for the tea. Left and got breakfast elsewhere. Other than that the room was ok. Shower drain was blocked though so had to stop the shower flooding the bathroom with towels. Meal at night was great and the staff were efficient.

Ideal location if intending to use the airport. Excellent quality and choice of food if dining in, supported by a self serve buffet continental breakfast for early leavers. There is also plenty of room in the car park.

The welcome was excellent and we were helped by taking a heavy bag up the stairs. The dinner was good, although some prized items were off the menu. It was clear that the staff were very pushed. Breakfast was not good, late, very limited, but again there were no staff. The bedroom was exceptionally clean and well ordered.

Stayed here for business. Room was fine other than the window blind was broken. Breakfast was very self-service, no cooked breakfast option, but there was bread for toast, croissants, jam etc. I felt the evening meal was a little expensive for what it was, but it was nice. I would probably stay again

Room nice and clean, bathroom very nice. The food looked tasty. Unfortunately it is only served until 6pm. However, I was offered a mini meal as a substitute, which was very nice. Staff very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Easy access and exit to the airport. I was able to have breakfast at 4am, before my flight.. which was very helpful :) All well.. I would stay there again

Found this little gem for a one-night stopover for an early flight out of Bristol Airport (only a 15 min drive). Lovely welcome from the young lady behind the bar. Very comfy room (pudding and pie) despite no air con did have a cooling fan - ideal for the current heatwave. The food was very good but not a great selection of beers on tap. The complimentary continental breakfast was a very welcome surprise, and you simply help yourself when you are ready - ideal for those like us who need to leave early in the morning when no staff are around. Would definitely stay here again when we next fly from Bristol.

Room was quite nice and the bed was large and comfortable, but couldn't open the broken blind at the window so no daylight. The breakfast situation was poorly explained and we didn't bother cooking ourselves toast which is all that was left at 9am. Things did not go well at the dinner we had there. They forgot to put our starters through. After an hour wait, the waitress came out with our main course and when we asked where our starters were we were offered them after our mains, which we declined. One of our meals was not as listed (salmon trout rather than proper trout) and there was very limited choice of red wine by the glass, which was also very expensive! When all this was questioned, the bar manager started to argue with us and only grudgingly offered an apology. There was no compensation of any sort offered - not even a free coffee. This would have cost the pub only pennies and smoothed our feelings, but was not forthcoming. Although the food we did have was nice, the long wait, the mix up and lack of apology marred the stay.

The room was really good. It just lacked a fridge for keeping cold drinks. There was a spot-on air conditioner, a radio, and TV. The bathroom was modern and roomy. The large garden was great in the hot weather, with lots of cover. The staff were friendly and helpful. A good experience all round.
