The cooked breakfast was beautiful & the fresh blueberries were honestly the best I’ve ever had! Warm & friendly hosts. Sitting in front of the fireplace in the evening was an extra and lovely treat. Thankyou so much for having us. Glad we found you! 😊

Good location for the hotel, excellent size of the bedroom, clean and comfy bed and a superb breakfast, what more could you ask for. Parking was limited but we got sorted eventually. Quaint little village with the awesome views of the castle and the best beach you could find, best I have been to in this country or abroad. Will go back again !!

Hillcrest House was a nice place to stay in Bamburgh for a couple of nights. The castle and beach were within easy walking distance. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning and was very nice. The owners were very friendly and happy to help. Couldn't park in front of the property as the town was pretty busy, but we managed to park close by around the village green, a couple of minutes walk away

A wonderful place to stay in Bamburgh, great location in the centre of the town, walking distance to the beach and castle and many restaurants and cafes on your doorstep. Lovely bright, clean room with a great breakfast and a wonderful owner, Mark who goes above and beyond to make your stay special. We had a wedding to attend the day we checked out and Mark invited us to stay in the lounge and help ourselves to tea and coffee and snacks and make ourselves at home until we were ready to leave - not many places would be so obliging! Thank you for a wonderful stay, will be recommending this little gem to all our friends and family

Hillcrest House was clean and comfortable. The area was fairly quiet and it was convenient for visiting the castle.The breakfast was very good too. The on-street parking was quite busy when we arrived, but it eased off once the day-trippers had gone and we were able to move the car a bit closer.

Hillcrest House is a lovely, cosy B&B in the heart of Bamburgh. The room was immaculately clean and very spacious with everything a traveller needs. The bathroom was massive and came with a number of complimentary toiletries. Lovely view of the fields and the sea. Very quiet and the bed was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and the owners couldn't do enough. Very friendly and helpful. I travelled alone for a solo getaway to the home of The Last Kingdom and I am so happy I chose Hillcrest. I highly recommend.

We had a delightful stay! The house is super tidy and clean, the breakfast is outstanding and Mark and his dad were incredibly friendly and helpful. The house is within easy walking distance to Bamburgh Castle and all the shops and pubs in town. We would highly recommend staying.

Easy enough to find and instructions on how to gain access were good. The room was extremely clean and so was the bathroom. I’m one of those who check the bathroom very closely and was delighted to find it was very clean. The view from the room was very pleasant over looking a field full of sheep. The view wasn’t spoilt by other buildings. I certainly enjoyed the cooked breakfast and would be happy to stay again

Clean, warm and friendly. Good size bedroom very large en-suite bathroom on the back of the house, quiet. Well organised as Mark does not live on premises. Thought parking might be an issue but was virtually out side the house, normal street parking. Good breakfast. Would stay again if in the area.

B&B was in a good location and walking distance to restaurants pubs and the Castle. The people who run the B&B are very nice and helpful and make a good breakfast. But the accommodation was very dated late 60s/70s our room was in need of a good vacuum and dusting although the bedding was clean and the bed was comfy. The shower was in need of repair as the base was cracked and sealed with gaffer tape and covered with a non slip mat and the bathroom needs a good clean.

A lovely little gem situated in Bamburgh, just down the road from the castle. Managed to park my car outside but could have been further away due to the popularity of the location. Room was clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom with views over the fields and in the distance we could see the sea Breakfast was 1st class and a good start to the day Would definitely stay here again

The location can’t be beaten! My stay was very comfortable and I slept SO WELL! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, served by very friendly and accommodating hosts. The property is dated but that also meant a spacious room. No noise at night at all. Easy walking to Bamburgh Castle and to the bus stop. Be aware that you need to let yourself in - it’s a bit odd that way. It’s a perfect location to explore the coast, and Bamburgh makes an excellent base.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hillcrest House! It is a very homely place in a gorgeous location, quiet despite being in town, with a very large bedroom & bathroom. Mark was so friendly and lovely to deal with, and the breakfast he cooked for us was delicious! It was such a treat to stay there, and great value for money.

Really disappointed in the actual property/room on arrival. check-in was via a keysafe, no one else in the building and I took a chunk out of my thumb on the keysafe cover. The room was meant to be a Superior Room but it fell well-short of what I was expecting having read the reviews left by others. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired and a bracket that had presumably held a wall-mount for the TV was exposed and hanging off the wall, with a power supply cable from a retractable cable reel(safe??)poking through a makeshift drilled hole in a wardrobe unit servicing a very small TV standing on a set of drawers. There were no tumblers/glasses provided in the room or bathroom - Again not the 5star facilities we thought we were getting, I'm afraid. Finally to breakfast - although the cooked plate of food Malcolm served us was ok and Malcolm himself was a very pleasant person, I would not rave about the breakfast as others seemed to, and in conclusion I would definitely not be recommending Hillcrest House to anyone else

We stayed for one night in room 1. The room view was pleasant looking over fields with the sea in the distance. Bed was king size and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and cooked fresh by the most welcoming host Mark.

Lovely B&B with spacious rooms and bathroom. When we let the staff know we wouldn’t be having breakfast due to a 6AM departure, they insisted on having breakfast ready for us before we left. Breakfast was fantastic! So kind and generous. And Bamburgh Castle is just two minutes away.

Mark was a great host - cooked breakfast was lovely and started the day right. The close location meant we could go straight to Bamburgh Castle for a lovely day. The room was spotless and bathroom massive. Will be back again.

Check in was easy. Lovely room with a huge bathroom. Bright and airy. Like the idea of picking your cooked breakfast the night before - easier for chef and less food waste 👍 Love the views from the room- open countryside with sheep and rabbits and the sea 👍👍👍 Sorry it’s just been overnight as we would have happily stayed longer ☺️

This is a lovely, charming property in a lovely part of the world. The rooms were clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The host was lovely and cooked breakfast daily to specification. I cannot fault any of this. However, the property is in need of maintenance and modernisation. The door handle to our room was broken and we only had one set of keys and the door could not be unlocked from inside. This meant that if one of us went out then we had to leave the door unlocked (in case of fire etc) but couldn't even close it properly. The towel rail in the bathroom was hanging off the wall and the shower was an overhead, rain style shower meaning I couldn't shower and keep my hair dry. Also, the TV was very small and we could not cast to it. In a location with nothing to do in the evenings, I would expect a better TV. Finally the WIFI was poor, we could use it to browse the web but little else, even the TV lost connection regularly. This is a lovely property with a lovely host but do be aware that there is little to do in the evenings, even if you choose to stay in and watch TV.

We woke up to a power cut which probably lasted most of the day. Mark however has an AGA which gave us a little warm.water but more importantly he had cooked us breakfast which was delicious and we had teapots of welcome tea! Thank you Mark for your kind hospitality!

One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at - excellent room and breakfast, and a superb location a few yards from Bamburgh Castle. Mark is a great host - very friendly and easy to contact. Will definitely stay there again when we return to the North East.

Our host, Mark, was fabulous. Mark provided us with detailed check in information in advance of our stay and great tips on how we could make the most of our stay in Bamburgh. Our room was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and top notch. Thank you for a lovely stay Mark. We will certainly be back for another holiday

Canny little B&B that's ticks all the essential B&B boxes just on the outskirts of Bamburgh, no issues, very quiet, Malcolm who did our breakfast was lovely and chatty. Parking could be an issue in busier months but that can be said for Bamburgh in general as it can get very busy. Good communication and instructions from them prior to the visit. Thank you!

Had a fantastic stay! Mark was super helpful and accommodating. Couldn’t be closer to the local restaurants, bars and of course the castle. Everything was spot on. Also the breakfast was tailored to how you want it and was delightful. Would definitely stay again and recommend anyone else to stay here.

Awful check in, talking through an intercom! No other communication! NO PARKING, when the advert said parking, and we were supposed to have a sea view, but we overlooked the street. Average breakfast. Hundreds of people everywhere and hundreds of cars due to tourists visiting the castle. Awful experience.

A lovely little gem situated in Bamburgh, just down the road from the castle. Managed to park my car outside but could have been further away due to the popularity of the location. Room was clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom with views over the fields and in the distance we could see the sea Breakfast was 1st class and a good start to the day Would definitely stay here again

One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at - excellent room and breakfast, and a superb location a few yards from Bamburgh Castle. Mark is a great host - very friendly and easy to contact. Will definitely stay there again when we return to the North East.

The location can’t be beaten! My stay was very comfortable and I slept SO WELL! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, served by very friendly and accommodating hosts. The property is dated but that also meant a spacious room. No noise at night at all. Easy walking to Bamburgh Castle and to the bus stop. Be aware that you need to let yourself in - it’s a bit odd that way. It’s a perfect location to explore the coast, and Bamburgh makes an excellent base.

Lovely B&B, delicious breakfast and wonderful host. Located very well in beautiful Bamburgh. View from the bedroom was great; coastline, sheep, very quiet. We had a great time and would certainly come back.

Hillcrest House was a nice place to stay in Bamburgh for a couple of nights. The castle and beach were within easy walking distance. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning and was very nice. The owners were very friendly and happy to help. Couldn't park in front of the property as the town was pretty busy, but we managed to park close by around the village green, a couple of minutes walk away

Easy self check in. No staff on site. Room as expected. No frills but very nice views and big bathroom with both large bath and shower. Really needed a full sized mirror somewhere. Bed comfortable enough. Breakfast was ok. Nice fruits and yogurts etc but cooked breakfast was very disappointing. Everything was well overcooked as if it had been made a long time in advance rather like the big hotel buffets Expect a nice fresh breakfast from a typical b&b so this was disappointing. Helpful gentleman who served breakfast very kindly helped with luggage which was very much appreciated All in all a nice stay

Lovely B&B with spacious rooms and bathroom. When we let the staff know we wouldn’t be having breakfast due to a 6AM departure, they insisted on having breakfast ready for us before we left. Breakfast was fantastic! So kind and generous. And Bamburgh Castle is just two minutes away.

Great location. Easy check in using the outside key press. Rooms are spacious. Nice king size bed (room 2) very comfy. Pre book breakfast boards and you can select your preferred time. Lovely breakfast, with local Bamburgh Bangers. Mark was very attentive at breakfast. An enjoyable stay and good value for money.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. The owner was a great chap. The breakfast was excellent including local sausages. Also I had the best night sleep here of a whole 10day trip. I think it was the lovely clean sea air coming in through the windows.

Room not clean, heavily stained towels,dirty underwear from previous occupancy left in wardrobe. No mattress protector ,that was also screwed up and left in bottom of wardrobe, toe nail cuttings on carpet.Generaly gut wrenching filth everywhere. Only stayed because it was too late at night to find other accommodation

Marks breakfast is brilliant for the price however the B&B needs a woman's touch bedding old and tried towels thread pair need new pillows
