Roxy Hotel

Wow, this place was awful. It was incredibly run down and disgustingly dated. They call themselves a hotel, but this is ten times worse than even a proper motel like a Super 8 or Motel 6... This is no hotel. Especially the lobby is awful. The worst thing is THERE IS NO PARKING LOT. They shouldn't be able to advertise that they have parking when they really have a small alley that's mostly full of the owner's vehicles. It's extremely tight and could damage your car, and fills up quickly. I was forced to park on the street, and incurred a $65 parking fine. There is no modern electric AC/heater unit. Instead there is a dated gas fired wall furnace which smelled to be leaking gas. The pictures show that the fridge was moldy, and the rooms were incredibly dated, covered in 50 layers of paint. There were two power outlets in the whole room. Thankfully, the bathroom was updated and free of mold. This is always the most important thing. The gross wall textures were smoothed out, and newer tile and fixtures were installed. However, no bathmat was provided. I checked in 12 hours late and the owner refused to give me any flexibility on check out. He tried to charge me $50 for 2 hours extension. No wonder he owns a Rolls-Royce and Mercedes S550 that occupies half the parking alley.

I have no real complaints about the area other than it’s really difficult to find parking if you can’t get into the designated parking area behind the gate. The guys are really nice there too. From the cleaning staff to the front desk. Shout out to the front desk for still opening the gate to the parking area at 4 AM in the morning because I get off work at 3 and for letting my husband stay, even though he had just lost his ID card. We’re very grateful for that to the front desk guy.

The “free parking” is whatever street parking you can find. No functional heater or air conditioner in the room. No complimentary shower soap or shampoo. Tons of homeless surrounding the property. Would never stay again.

Room was dirty and needed a deep clean at least.

The floors were dirty and the room seemed like it wasn’t cleaned in a long time. The chairs and fan and chair had this dirty grease on them, and there were bugs around

The sheets had fresh yellow stains, and we found a syringe cap underneath the sheets, clearly they don’t replace nor clean the sheets after guests leave. The carpet was filthy, everything was so old and falling apart. The only convenience is the location.

All around the quality and condition of the room was pretty bad. Horrible paint job. Some dust in areas clearly not cleaned off for at least months. Dirty places throughout that could easily be wiped clean. I felt uncomfortable being there and regretted the stay almost immediately after arriving.

Dirty room with no A/c. Window had a hole in the screen, allowing bugs into the room. I woke up 2 hrs into my sleep scratching from some sort of bite. When i awoke i lifted my pillow and found a little black bug scurrying across the bed. I freaked out and decided to check the bed for any more possible bugs. When i stripped the mattress of the sheets i found stains on the bed, dark red ones. After this i checked out early and was denied a full refund. Only a partial, 1 night of 3. The staff are also ill-mannered.

This was the worst hotel I ever stayed at. The hot water didn’t work, there were roaches crawling around. They even got into the food. The ac didn’t work. The heater didn’t work. The shower had black mold. The nob to the sink fell off. Absolutely terrible.

But really dirty. Towels are scratchy.

Rooms should be clean and not Dusty and beds and blankets should have cigarettes burns if it's a non-smoking hotel.

Stayed here just for one night because i was going to a concert. Positive: inexpensive room, in walking desert to venue. Negatives: No AC traffic on the street was loud. Overall you get what you pay for. Honestly I was only in the room just to sleep and that was it.

Just awful, but it does the job. Pros: The room itself was clean, had wood floors, and didn\'t smell like smoke. The mattress is surprisingly comfortable. The heating works. The wifi works (barely). I got a room for 3 nights for $66/night and you can\'t beat that price. Cons (so many): Check in is at 2pm and before 2pm has a $25 early check-in fee. Even though I arrived at 1:45pm, they wouldn\'t waive the fee for me. There\'s a required $25 cash-only deposit when you check in, that you only get if you check out at 10am (The Expedia listing says 11am which is incorrect). They were unable to provide me with a receipt for my deposit. The young woman I talked to doesn\'t speak english well enough to answer the question "What\'s the check-out process?" and needed to get her manager. The room is barer than bare bones. No electrical outlet near the bed (I came prepared with my own extension cord), no lamp in the bedroom, only the overhead light with the light switch by the door. There\'s a construction site next door that starts working at 8AM. I absolutely could not get back to sleep after they started working. My gues is that this hotel is probably geared towards folks who have no other housing options and are in dire straights. They\'re not trying to create a pleasant

Consistent (always clean, very nice and helpful front desk, safe, best price in Hollywood). It’s “barebones”, so don’t expect to pay an amazing low price in the heart of Hollywood and receive “Four Seasons” Amenities””. You must be aware that NO rooms have air conditioning. If you can’t take the Heat this is not the Property for you. Each Room always has a Standing High Speed Fan. Other than the no air conditioning it’s still (at least for me) the best value in the Heart of Hollywood.

REVIEW: D I will Never stay here again. Lumpy bed/ mattress springs worn away at edges and compressed in a few areas making for a bed with visibly depressed areas and thus leaving only a small strip in the middle that one can comfortably sleep on. So many random loud noises I had to use Earplugs to get sleep. Broken chair. Very dirty/ disgusting... Heart shaped flies and roaches. Many stains/ discolorations on walls, floors, fridge, desk etc. AC broken & no heater. The floor is uneven/ slanted in places. No soap holder in shower. Faucets squeak. Long time for water to get hot. No plug by bed (office leant me an extension cord when I asked). Very loud every day about 11:15am... Worker telling people to leave.

The lady was nice, but the room was hot and the fan could only do so much.

The maid does not clean she just vacums that's it there is no wall outlets to charge your phone only one and it's in the bathroom other than that the staff is really nice

Pretty basic but good value. Didn't see any bugs during my stay late April / early May. Noisy area but earplugs solved that. Excellent access to public transport (B underground metro line).

almost 100 dollars for a night in a 100 year old inn! I am quite sure the last time they painted the walls was the first time they built the structure! The beddings were ripped. No airconditioning.. I was sweating all night long. When heavy trucks pass, you feel a shake like earthquake.. Awful odor..

I booked a two-night stay at the Roxy Hotel with my son, looking forward to a fun weekend at Universal Studios. However, we were very unhappy with the hotel and decided to bail after the first night. I paid for the full two nights online through Expedia.com, but I honestly feel like this place should not even be shown on that service. Roxy is situated in a loud and shady area, with constant noise and sirens throughout the night. The parking was horrendous, as their “free” parking was just an alleyway where everyone just parked haphazardly, trapping each other from being able to exit. We had to park several blocks away and walk back to the hotel. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and urine. The bed was uninviting and the comforter had holes from burns in it. The shower had mildew and there was no hot water. The creaky wooden floor felt unstable and decayed, as if I was about to fall through if I applied too much pressure. And there was no AC, but we had a small fan to cool us down in the 90° heat. The room also had only one power outlet, which the fan was plugged into (leaving just one available plug). That was very inconvenient for charging our phones. But hey, at least the wifi was great! I was able to browse the internet and look for a better hotel while we suffered in this dump. I strongly advise against staying at the Roxy Hotel, unless you are a low-life, hooker, or desperate budget traveler. It is a rip-off and a nightmare, and it spoiled our weekend.

Never have I heard a hotel say you need a 25 deposit in cash but if you put it on a card there’s no guarantee you’ll get your money back. The rooms are dark even with light the walls are so thin you can hear the neighbors. Just not a good experience will not stay again.

It was good... It served it's purpose. Nothing expectacular but comfortable enough to sleep. The service it's good. The owner and his Family are great people The Fair and understanding.

Very rude staff. I believe a couple runs it. They try to bully you.cThey have a kid that screams all night. They do not have AC. No rooms have AC. They provide fans. LOUD FANS. Which means you have hot loud air blowing on you. The shower was a joke. My room had a hole in the wall.They have one run down microwave for the entire hotel. There is construction literally next door so be prepared to get no sleep. They start around 6am and they stop around 7pm ish. It is listed that check out is 11am but they bam on your door at 10am. I had to call Expedia to assist with this issue. I took pictures of all of this. I will add to yelp. This place should be every cent of $59 a night. Very over priced for what you get and the treatment you receive

I like the location, but Hotel needs to be upgraded to new beds, furniture, etc, it is really ugly. I don't like that all around are homeless and feels really unsafe

For the price and location this stay was awesome and perfect. Room was acceptable and clean. Not upscale but expected for price and location. If you want to save money I HIGHLY recommend!

Great place in the heart of Hollywood

Great hotel near everything including transit, major sights, dining and amazing price

This hotel is probably the best value in West Hollywood. They offer great prices in a very convenient location. I really enjoyed the vintage coke machine in the lobby. It's only a short five minute walk to the subway, which make the location very convenient for someone visiting the city without a vehicle.

Hotel is small has no air conditioning the heater does not work but it's a pretty cheap option it's a good location I mean it's kind of slummy in the neighborhood but it's really right in the middle of Hollywood
