The GARMIN pointed us to the wrong driveway which was steep enough. Across from it we saw the Kona Palace sign at their building and returned to the paved road--the minivan almost bottomed out upon arrival to the pavement. We chose the next driveway which did have a small sign at the mailbox post and pitched over the edge. I spent 30+ years driving high-clearance 4x4s down gravel roads less steep than this one to the back yard of another residence. I told my wife I would pay this person for parking if we had to drive down yet another steep pitch. We turned around and went back up the hill and bottomed out the minivan again on what amounted to a blind corner on the narrow Na po'o po'o road. On the pavement, I found a SAFE place to pull off and call Rebecca and ask about the driveway. I hadn't received her text with the picture that does in NO way reflect how steep the driveway really is. She said "well, everyone else makes it down here." Maybe so, but I could just see trying to repeat the drive down there IN THE DARK. No way. I told her that she could keep the money, I was not putting us in that kind of dangerous situation, and we headed to our next destination. Fortunately they could work us in earlier. The view may be nice but read all the negative comments and believe they are more than just hard to satisfy guests. In the end, we did not stay at Kona Palace.
