This is such a nicely-themed property, and it’s a plus to have the Chattahoochee River just outside our room. There are several stairways that lead right down to the river.

The beautiful creek area with seating is especially nice. The reason I gave only 3 stars for property condition is the absence of elevators. (I couldn’t find the one and only elevator they said was available!?!?!?!?!!!!!) All staff members were exceptionally nice, courteous and helpful. 🤗

Great location and definitely will stay again. Walking distance to just about everything. No elevator but the stairs weren’t too bad. We were on the 3rd floor over looking the little river with a balcony! Just remember to get/bring towels to the pool they don’t have any there. Parking was great also, we have a truck and sometimes parking is a problem.

Nice facility, friendly staff, clean and well maintained. The beds were excellent and there was plenty of hot water. The only negatives were that the "indoor pool" was outside of the hotel in an enclosed greenhouse type structure, so you froze going from the room to pool and back. Otherwise, no complaints and I would definitely stay at this facility on my next visit to Helen.

The riverside patio and view was really good, as was the live music at a restaurant up the river a bit. The outdoor furniture could be a bit nicer, but was comfortable enough for a couple of hours. The room was clean, but the decor is dated with dark brown being a prominent color (white bedding would make a big difference). The bathroom is small and fixtures older, but the the toilet is private. The private balcony was nice and had a screen door so we could leave the main door open and enjoy the sound of the river. Perfect location with a very short walk to the Octoberfest building, downtown shops, and recommended restaurants.

By far the best bed i have slept in while traveling! The only thing is that the pool is heated but the room it is in is not so the water doesn’t get very warm. Otherwise the view from the room is beautiful and it is literally a quick walk to everything!

My kids really enjoyed the pool, it was 35 degrees in Helen but we had a hard time getting them to get out of the pool, they loved it!

Check in easy and guy was friendly. Can't beat the location. Both doors did not open to the balcony. One was permanently shut and the window in that one was cloudy so it ruined our view a bit. One other issue, and no fault of the hotel, is the huge parking lot across the river. When it's full it kinda ruins the picturesque view you may be looking for. And during the summer all the tubers during the day probably destroy it. Beds were comfortable. They do offer some breakfast items. Make sure to read their terms and conditions, they are very straight forward and open. If you are surprised by anything you didn't read them. Honestly, for the price, next time we will go back to the cheaper, non balcony room. They have a great little walk along the river with tons of chairs and tables so we will just utilize that next time. But location alone is worth it, once we park the vehicle it doesn't move till we check out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a river front balcony with excellent views. The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome. We will definitely return!

When we arrived the sink was stopped up and there was a stain on sheet, so I was turned off immediately. The view from our balcony was great, very relaxing. Very pricey for the accommodations.

The Helendorf is an older hotel with unique architecture. The room was very clean, hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast area is cute and clean. Breakfast consisted of pre packaged items but had good variety. The hotel is in downtown Helen with shopping and restaurants nearby in walking distance.

For the place being kinda spendy, I feel the balcony could have been swept, and the outside grounds swept. The bath tub caulk needs the mold scrubbed out. The bed was comfortable.

The hotel staff was nice but the decor was a little outdated. I would have given 5 stars due to location and overall quality but the only feedback I could give would be to have the curtains updated to black out curtains so the neon sighs did not peep through the curtains. I woke up several times thinking it was 7am but it was 1:50am.

We had a great stay! The hotel was clean and the view was amazing. The music at night was a little loud and the walls are a little thin - we could hear our neighbors and their extra curricular activities at night.

Its a bit outdated, but was decent. There was a lot of mattress protectors and it was decent considering the price factor. It was near all the shops and parking was decent. The walls are super thin though so we did feel some banging around from the room next door to us. The staff was friendly and always available and checked in with us at reasonable times. We checked in kind of late but didn't seem to be an issue. Checking in and out was super simple. Would most likely stay here again.

We liked everything about the property! The location was great and being on the river was excellent to take a dip in the river whenever we wanted. Our room overlooked the river which was our morning and afternoon relaxing time. Ryan was very helpful in surrounding suggestions like restaurants and must sees. He was very friendly and welcoming which made us comfortable. Just two Florida girls enjoying there getaway! Thankyou! We will definitely be back!

The hotel location near town and right by the river was great. The hotel is old and pretty shabby. Front desk help was apathetic (except guy on last day of our stay). Housekeeping was friendly and helpful but only clean rooms by special arrangement. Breakfast was prepackaged and unappealing. COVID should no longer be used as an excuse for bad service and poor quality. I would stay here again but it definitely doesn't deserve a 9 out of 10 rating as indicated on Expedia site

So glad we chose Helendorf for our first trip to the town. We could walk to everything from our motel. The employees at the hotel were so nice. We will definitely stay there again.

This hotel was perfect for our stay in Helen, GA. It was perfectly on theme, you feel transported from the moment you drive up to the property. Everything was immaculately clean. The staff were all so friendly & helpful. The radio alarm in the room next to us went off at 3am. We called front desk and they took care of it within minutes. Coffee and tea available at the lobby all day. The room was spacious, the view was beautiful! The kids loved the hotel. I could go on and on about how great this place was! We will definitely be back!

I liked the stay the rooms was fine, i like the fact that there was conjoined rooms for a family.. Parking was kinda tight meaning there was no parking. The only thing I had an issue with was, me and my family African American came in for breakfast like 7isham before we checked out, I'm very observant and I noticed the desk female clerk older lady with blonde hair and it was a younger gentleman there that morning. March 19th. They watched us eat and stared it was very uncomfortable and some of my family went elsewhere to eat. If the food is for breakfast then let people eat and enjoy themselves don't make them uncomfortable... But overall I enjoyed my stay

The Helendorf is right in the heart of town near the famous bridge and near the restaurants and shopping. The rooms are on the Chattahoochee river.

Loved being in downtown Helen. Definitely walkable to most everything. Room was good, loved the river view. Clean, comfortable, safe. TV worked and had Netflix (last few places we’ve been had TV issues and no Netflix). Overall, a good place to stay and I’d go there again

We had a room with a balcony, the view with the river was awesome. Walking down to the table with chairs to watch the river flow was really nice. Walking distance to town was really good.

So glad we chose Helendorf for our first trip to the town. We could walk to everything from our motel. The employees at the hotel were so nice. We will definitely stay there again.

Centrally located in Helen, Georgia, everything is within walking distance to this hotel. We got a balcony room facing the Chatahoochie river. What a beautiful view. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The beds are so comfortable. Great price for all that you get. Definitely recommend.

Excellent location. In the middle of it all. It was clean and enjoyable. My only suggestion is some renovations -,squicky doors and beds and not enough outlets; that don’t really charge and some more lighting. Some changes to the continental breakfast would be good,such as adding two waffle makers.

We loved the location. It’s right on the river. The location was the best. Be sure to get a riverside room. The breakfast was all per package food. Not the best but coffee was great. We would stay here again.

The location is perfect. We parked the car upon arrival on Sunday and didn’t move until departure on Wednesday. We chose riverfront and greatly enjoyed the river sounds and breeze. We enjoyed our first trip to Helen. The continental breakfast is very basic ( microwave products ) but the stay was great and location perfect. Once we checked out we went to Unicoi and Anna Ruby falls.

We loved our stay here! It is so conveniently located. We loved being right in the river and having a balcony that looks into the river. Rooms were nice as well. The breakfast provided could’ve used some fresh fruit and yogurt.

I had stayed before in Helen, but never one of the charming , older ones ! That was this establishment. Right next door to the stellar Bodensee restaurant and the thrilling Alpine coaster. This place rocks. It is clear the care and preservation they put into the property. The breakfast was a great variety of pre packed goodies, and fresh juices. Better than I expected ; The set up was so easy and convenient! I love the cats on the property. It was such a low key and relaxed atmosphere. The lobby looks like the Hufflepuff Common House in the best way! I will always recommend this property to any friends wanting the ultimate Helen experience. The cool, misty mornings at the creek are a reason alone to make the visit.

The hotel is a walkable distance to everything in main town. However, it needs a renovation as other reviewers mentioned. The room i got wasn’t clean good and one of the sheets had old stain and they only do room service if you requested it. Rooms are spacious and A/C worked perfectly. Parking is included in your stay. Breakfast is included but is one of the worst in my opinion since we travel with little kids. They only provided personal like frozen packed of bagel, mini burgers, and I believe pancakes and they have a machine with coffee and juice. Staffs are nice and answered all need questions. Overall if you want something in price and in walkable distance and dont matter eating outside, it a good option to sleep in it :)

From check-in to check-out, great experience!!! Clean rooms, kind staff, timely notification during tornado warning. Loved being riverside and watching the tubers go by. Look forward to the next stay.

Staff was very friendly rooms were smelly there were Cobb webs in all breeze ways and dirt and debris. Had to buy air fresheners for room; also the mattress was not sturdy. When you say it dinked in. There was nothing hot served on continental breakfast everything was frozen and had to be nuked.
