This place is pure magic. From the second we walked in the door it became clear that this would be a stay we will absolutely never forget. The house is absolutely stunning. It’s quirky and weird in the best possible way while also being incredibly tasteful and elegant. There is so much love and passion poured into this place and it is apparent at every turn. It’s also got everything you could want from a modern hotel- very comfortable bed, great shower, amazing pool- while also providing an experience that transports you back in time. Evan could not have been more welcoming and wonderful to talk to, he has so much information to share about the house, it’s so clear that his passion has made this place what it is. He also loves Mystic and the surrounding area and has lots of great tips to help you get the most out of your trip. Bonus that there are two very sweet dogs on the property. We will be back here. Not sure when, but we will. Magical!

The House of 1833 is a beautiful old home with an amazing collection of antiques. It is surrounded by old English style gardens. In late September we were a bit too early for fall colors. The owner is delightful and helpful and the food was wonderful!

House of 1833 was the most unique B&B we have ever stayed in. When we arrived, we were greeted by Evan, who was simply delightful. Entering the home, at first glance when going inside, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful antiques and collections, the ornate decorations and the simple beauty of the stately home. After a lovely tour of the home Evan took us to our room - the "Ivy" room - which was lovely. It was a nice touch for an old home like this to have a TV in the room as some don't do this. We had made this our base as we toured around Mystic Seaport and Newport, and we so enjoyed coming back to our room and having such a pleasant place to relax. On top of all of that - the food. The amazing amazing food. Evan is an amazing chef and our three course breakfast was so delicious. It was all made fresh and to our liking. We felt like family from the moment we arrived. We were there in the off season so the pool and tennis courts were not open, but from the pictures of the summer here it is breathtaking with all the gardens. We can't wait to have the chance to come back and visit. We are avid travelers and we highly recommend The House of 1833. Thank you Evan for opening your lovely home to us! Heather and Ian

Our first stay in Mystic was complemented by a great host and a very good breakfast. Free self parking convenient to loading and unloading was a plus. We loved the wonderful variety of well maintained antiques all over the property and rooms.

My wife and I booked one night and we *thoroughly* enjoyed our stay! The proprietor - Evan - was an absolute delight with a home/B&B straight out of a quirky movie ... comfortable, welcoming, and just eccentric enough to keep things interesting and different. Great piano music in the background, excellent breakfast and perfect distance from downtown Mystic. Will *definitely* come back!

It was a great stay. It was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast and will certainly not be our last now with such a great experience we had at the House of 1833. House of 1833 was the most unique B&B we have ever stayed in. When we arrived, we were greeted by Evan, who was simply delightful. Entering the home, at first glance when going inside, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful antiques and collections, the ornate decorations and the simple beauty of the stately home. After a lovely tour of the home Evan took us to our room - the "Ivy" room - which was lovely. It was a nice touch for an old home like this to have a TV in the room as some don't do this. We had made this our base as we toured around Mystic Seaport and Newport, and we so enjoyed coming back to our room and having such a pleasant place to relax. On top of all of that - the food. The amazing amazing food. Evan is an amazing chef and our three course breakfast was so delicious. It was all made fresh and to our liking. We felt like family from the moment we arrived. We were there in the off season so the pool and tennis courts were not open, but from the pictures of the summer here it is breathtaking with all the gardens. We can't wait to have the chance to come back and visit. We are avid travelers and we highly recommend The House of 1833. Thank you Evan for opening your lovely home to us! Heather and Ian

The proprietor - Evan - was an absolute delight with a home/B&B straight out of a quirky movie ... comfortable, welcoming, and just eccentric enough to keep things interesting and different. Great piano music in the background, excellent breakfast and perfect distance from downtown Mystic. Will *definitely* come back!

Due to an issue with previous hotel and having to leave immediately, we were absolutely amazed by this property! Evan was a top notch host and prepared the most amazing breakfast items and even accomodated my gluten allergy! We absolutely loved our stay and will be booking as a yearly getaway. We look forward in staying in the warmer months so that we can enjoy the outside gardens and pool.

The House of 1833 is a beautiful old home with an amazing collection of antiques. It is surrounded by old English style gardens. In late September we were a bit too early for fall colors. The owner is delightful and helpful and the food was wonderful!
