Loved waking up with an ocean view. Back patio area to sit and enjoy the view and next to a park, so not looking into another building or window. Poll was heated, so able to swim in the morning, sit in the jacuzzi before checking out. The only surprise was the train track goes right by the beach front, so you could hear the crossing horns every couple hours throughout the night. I think you'd get used to that if staying longer.

Fabulous property, loved the location and thank you for giving us the beachfront property. It was the best! Check-in was a breeze, pool and hot tub were clean. Unit was clean (shower needs a little repair). Will definitely be back!

Overall, a very nice stay at Wave Crest. It’s an older property that’s not a traditional hotel as there is no bar/restaurant or lobby area. The room was a decent size with a nice view of the ocean. There was a Murphy queen size bed which is a little odd. Plus there is no air conditioning. The weather was fine for the dates we stayed, but I could see it getting very warm during summer months. They have their own parking lot and the parking is free. Location is very good as it’s a stone throw away from the ocean and only 1-2 blocks from the main strip in Del Mar.

5-Star Stay in Del Mar Seaside! Modern accommodations with ocean views and easy access to one of Southern California’s best beaches and restaurants! Beautiful pool with gorgeous views of the ocean! Will definitely return to this best kept secret! Front desk service was great!

Wave crest was fabulous beautiful ocean views quick walk to beach. Nice clean pool. Staff were wonderful kind and helpful. Id like to go back for a week or two. Definitely would stay there again!!!😎

Great place to stay in Del Mar! We are in Del Mar not infrequently for soccer tournaments. Not sure how we’ve never stayed here before. A bit dated, but tons of space, friendly staff, plenty of towels, directly on the beach, easy parking, walkable to all the cute shops and restaurants, and reasonably priced considering location and size of the apartment. Will absolutely book here again.

We did not have a direct view of the beach, we had a side view, but you still can not beat the area and ease of getting down to the beach. You only have to walk a short distance to get the view you desire. The pool was nice and has a wonderful view of the ocean. There is work being done on the railroad tracks but it did not bother us, it did obstruct the views from the lower units that would normally have a direct view of the ocean

Beautiful and clean. If we needed anything a mere text is all it took. Plenty of space loved the little extras like extra towels. Bed and pillows super comfy!!! Definitely did not have enough time. Thank you

Wonderful-exceeded our expectations in every way. It was much nicer than the photos.beautiful location, on a Cliff right over the ocean. It was quiet, very clean, and the furnishings and everything were new, bright and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and unpretentious.

Reception isnt 24/24 like written on Expedia. No one was at the resort when we arrived even if we said we would arrive for check in late. Coffee maker was leaking heavily. Mattress was sagging. View from room was on a garbage bin. Dishwasher wasn't working. TV speaker was blown. They changed it after 4 days. There is a train with horn every 20 mins or so.

The room was filled with ants and other bugs which I have pictures and videos to prove, and they fasly represented the room making it seem like it would be an ocean front room with a patio, and it was nothing like that. There was no patio or view of the water from the room. Then they wanted to keep telling me about going to their tiny pool like that’s going to make up for what we walked into on my wife’s birthday. She was very disturbed by the conditions of the room and even further infuriated by the gentleman at the front desk offering us to come and spray bug spray in the room. Then the gentleman at the front desk went as far as blaming the false representation of the room on Expedia and not the hotel, taking no ownership at all. Overall it was a terrible experience for the 15 minutes we stayed there. We ended up leaving and they still won’t refund us.

very quiet and comfortable. everything was very clean. Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes, wine glasses, pots, and paper towels. The trains didn't bother us at all. Only a few go by each day and they're short passenger trains, so not very noisy. I was surprised that we had a nice view of the ocean from our upstairs apt. And Del Mar is such a nice little town.

The property was absolutely gorgeous right on the cliff of Delmar Beach! it was spotless, spacious ,and the office staff was very friendly! The only thing is the train noise was very loud as the train track is only hundred yards away -not the regular train, but the freight train was very loud . I would still book it again, regardless.

I booked this room but they had issues with the room so they gave me a different property: Carsbad Inn which they had only one room. The Carlsbad room was noisy and was on the first floor with street viewno ocean view. I complained about the room but was not given was told they didn't have any other room. They did not let me know about issues with the room until I arrived at the property and learned about the issue. Their front desk person in Del Mar told me their that their reservation people would call. It told them about an hour to call to offer me the Carlsbad location.

Great place to stay in Del Mar! We are in Del Mar not infrequently for soccer tournaments. Not sure how we’ve never stayed here before. A bit dated, but tons of space, friendly staff, plenty of towels, directly on the beach, easy parking, walkable to all the cute shops and restaurants, and reasonably priced considering location and size of the apartment. Will absolutely book here again.

The property was absolutely gorgeous right on the cliff of Delmar Beach! it was spotless, spacious ,and the office staff was very friendly! The only thing is the train noise was very loud as the train track is only hundred yards away -not the regular train, but the freight train was very loud . I would still book it again, regardless.

Overall, a very nice stay at Wave Crest. It’s an older property that’s not a traditional hotel as there is no bar/restaurant or lobby area. The room was a decent size with a nice view of the ocean. There was a Murphy queen size bed which is a little odd. Plus there is no air conditioning. The weather was fine for the dates we stayed, but I could see it getting very warm during summer months. They have their own parking lot and the parking is free. Location is very good as it’s a stone throw away from the ocean and only 1-2 blocks from the main strip in Del Mar.

We did not have a direct view of the beach, we had a side view, but you still can not beat the area and ease of getting down to the beach. You only have to walk a short distance to get the view you desire. The pool was nice and has a wonderful view of the ocean. There is work being done on the railroad tracks but it did not bother us, it did obstruct the views from the lower units that would normally have a direct view of the ocean

Nice little gem of a spot. The studio isnt too bad. Got the job done for a little mom and dad get away. Staff was cool and you can walk to almost any place (weather permitting) it was raining during our stay.

My room was absolutely gorgeous with a beautiful view. There’s plenty of parking. There’s plenty to do in walking distance. I love staying at Wave Crest. The staff is friendly, efficient, and loves to please you.

We stayed one night and chose this property for its advertised “on the beach” location. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations for the price. The room was decent but outdated, with no air conditioning. To get airflow, you must open doors/windows, but there are no screens, so bugs come in. Privacy is also limited, as people from the nearby park can see directly inside. A major issue was the train, which runs every 10–20 minutes and is very loud. Since the tracks sit between the property and the ocean—and windows must stay open—you hear it constantly. The property is not truly “on the beach.” A railroad track and cliff separate it from the ocean, and beach access requires walking through a nearby park. While not far, this feels misleading. Additional drawbacks included no breakfast or on-site dining, limited laundry (2 machines), cleanliness issues (cobwebs), and construction noise disclosed only after booking a non-refundable stay. Checkout expectations (taking out trash, loading dishwasher, etc.), along with a tip envelope and reminder text, felt excessive. While the kitchen was nice and the beach is nearby, the stay did not justify the cost and felt misleading overall.
