One of the best stays I had in Japan. I would recommend it to everyone and would gladly visit this Ryokan again. All of the staff members are incredibly kind and attentive. Their hospitality and service were thoughtful and attentive. Most impressively, I left my coat in the closet, and they kindly shipped it to Osaka for me. I am truly grateful for their thoughtfulness! The room was very comfortable, and the outdoor hot springs were absolutely amazing. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were both incredibly delicious. Thank you for giving me such wonderful memories to cherish.

Das Personal war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Hotel ist etwas weit weg von der Bushaltestelle und es geht Berg hoch bis zum Hotel. Deshalb empfiehlt es sich beim Hotel anzurufen und nach einem Transfer zu fragen. Auf dem Rückweg haben wir den Transfer in Anspruch genommen. Die Onsen waren nach Geschlechtern getrennt (so wie es in Japan üblich ist). Insgesamt waren die gemeinsamen Onsen aber sauber, einladend und schön. Das Essen ist typisch japanisch. Der Shabu Shabu hat uns gut geschmeckt, auch wenn es etwas Übung bedarf die Zutaten rechtzeitig rein und raus zu tun. Das Schönste war auf jeden Fall der kleine japanische Garten mit dem Koi-Teich hinter den Zimmern. Alles in allem hat uns das gut gefallen im Hotel

Beautiful remote location with a stunning property and close to a shrine. Excellent meals. Staff were incredibly kind. A little hard to get to, I suggest a taxi. We had the kaede suite with private hot spring, highly recommend. Beautiful private garden. I do wish the room was warmer in the morning and had more insulation.

If you are looking for a traditional ryokan and a more remote area, this is the perfect place. Although it is about 45 mins from Kyoto train station, you will not be disappointed. Upon arrival, we were immediatelty greeted by the staff and welcomed with matcha tea while our bags were taken to our rooms. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. Our room featured a private onsen overlooking the mountains. It was absolutely breathtaking. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing! We stayed one night and spent the next morning walking around the small town which was quite quaint and adorable. We would definitely stay here again!

The highlight of staying in Kyoto. This ryokan is going towards more of the countryside of Kyoto in Ohara but it is definitely worth spending a couple nights in. Yes it is farther away from the main tourist temples but honestly it is so much nicer staying here away from all the tourists and finding hidden gems within Ohara where there are hardly any tourists. The rooms themselves were so serene and peaceful. The onsens always feel amazing especially after long days exploring temples and gardens. The staff and service were beyond accommodating and friendly. My wife had dietary restrictions and they were more than happy to accommodate. Breakfast and dinner is included with each night which is so lovely not having to worry about what to eat for dinner when it is already provided. Our room had a nice view of the garden and koi fish swimming around. I can't say enough about how great it was to stay here and I would highly recommend to anyone I know to stay here. You will receive a unique Kyoto experience from everyone else if you stay here and will never forget! Thank you to the staff, you have made our visit to Japan incredibly memorable.

The property was beautiful. The bath, gardens, and room were all amazing. The meal offered was really good and they give you a welcome drink and snack. There are shops, places to eat, and shrines nearby with an opportunity to walk to a waterfall. The staff was very nice and attentive. Free shuttle to the nearest bus station. Amazing and peaceful stay. I highly recommend staying here.

The property has some of the most stunning views and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The food was magnificent and me and my wife loved our private onsen. It gave a much needed break from an otherwise busy vacation.

We had a great stay at Seryo for one night. The service and food were outstanding. The only downside is that the rooms can get cold quickly, but the futon and comforters were very warm and there’s also AC if you need it. Just a heads-up: this is a traditional Japanese inn with public baths separated by gender, and bathing is done nude.

We had a beautiful, relaxing, and very special few nights at Seryo - the property is gorgeous and spotless; the staff is friendly and accommodating; and the food was out-of-this-world! It’s obvious the owner and everyone at Seryo put a lot of love and care into both Seryo and the guest experience. We can’t wait to tell all our friends and family to come to Kyoto and stay at Seryo.
We had a beautiful, relaxing, and very special few nights at Seryo - the property is gorgeous and spotless; the staff is friendly and accommodating; and the food was out-of-this-world! Overall: 12/10! Food: superb, cleanliness: absolutely spotless, hospitality: the best I have ever experienced, views: breathtaking. The accessibility going up the hill can be a bit rough but there are taxis that can take you up and drop you off only a few steps from the doors. We arrived from downtown Kyoto and had no trouble finding where we needed to go. There are shops and temples all around the Ryokan (all within a ten minute walk), stunning trees and flowers along the way. We were not afraid to try out the sleepwear and a traditional Yukata for dinners, which is a big thing considering we are picky about our clothing. We were lucky enough to have a room the had it's own Onsen and garden. We spent a lot of our time drinking tea and eating sweets by the garden, spending quiet and peaceful time with each other and taking care of our bodies with "our vacation from our vacation". I have a food allergy and every meal we shared at this beautiful location was specifically catered towards my needs; I had no fear that there was cross-contamination or something was not translated properly. We felt at home the minute we walked in. We were respected and gracefully shown how everything in the Ryokan worked. This was our favorite part of our whole trip. Beautifull view of not only the country side but of the Japanese culture as well. We would come back to Japan just to stay in this Ryokan again.

This is by far the most beautiful and relaxing hotel we stayed at while in Japan. Highly recommend this experience. The pictures do not do this place justice. It’s stunning and so well kept. The Hot Pot, Shabu Shabu dinner was also the best meal we had during our entire trip!

Everything at this Ryokan was top notch. Excellent service, delicious traditional meals and immaculately clean facilities. The staff is very kind and helpful- they speak English well and have all answers to your questions. Onsen is beautiful and very clean

One of the best stays I had in Japan. I would recommend it to everyone and would gladly visit this Ryokan again. All of the staff members are incredibly kind and attentive. Their hospitality and service were thoughtful and attentive. Most impressively, I left my coat in the closet, and they kindly shipped it to Osaka for me. I am truly grateful for their thoughtfulness! The room was very comfortable, and the outdoor hot springs were absolutely amazing. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were both incredibly delicious. Thank you for giving me such wonderful memories to cherish.

Beautiful remote location with a stunning property and close to a shrine. Excellent meals. Staff were incredibly kind. A little hard to get to, I suggest a taxi. We had the kaede suite with private hot spring, highly recommend. Beautiful private garden. I do wish the room was warmer in the morning and had more insulation.

If you are looking for a traditional ryokan and a more remote area, this is the perfect place. Although it is about 45 mins from Kyoto train station, you will not be disappointed. Upon arrival, we were immediatelty greeted by the staff and welcomed with matcha tea while our bags were taken to our rooms. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. Our room featured a private onsen overlooking the mountains. It was absolutely breathtaking. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing! We stayed one night and spent the next morning walking around the small town which was quite quaint and adorable. We would definitely stay here again!

The highlight of staying in Kyoto. This ryokan is going towards more of the countryside of Kyoto in Ohara but it is definitely worth spending a couple nights in. Yes it is farther away from the main tourist temples but honestly it is so much nicer staying here away from all the tourists and finding hidden gems within Ohara where there are hardly any tourists. The rooms themselves were so serene and peaceful. The onsens always feel amazing especially after long days exploring temples and gardens. The staff and service were beyond accommodating and friendly. My wife had dietary restrictions and they were more than happy to accommodate. Breakfast and dinner is included with each night which is so lovely not having to worry about what to eat for dinner when it is already provided. Our room had a nice view of the garden and koi fish swimming around. I can't say enough about how great it was to stay here and I would highly recommend to anyone I know to stay here. You will receive a unique Kyoto experience from everyone else if you stay here and will never forget! Thank you to the staff, you have made our visit to Japan incredibly memorable.

We had a great stay at Seryo for one night. The service and food were outstanding. The only downside is that the rooms can get cold quickly, but the futon and comforters were very warm and there’s also AC if you need it. Just a heads-up: this is a traditional Japanese inn with public baths separated by gender, and bathing is done nude.

Wow! What an incredible stay! Probably the best experience of our entire trip to Japan. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, even showing us different local matcha varieties used during the meals. If you are visiting Kyoto on your trip to Japan, I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this property for the full Ryokan experience, equipped with a beautiful Onsen, Yukata, and local shrines in Ohara. 10/10

we had an amazing time at Seryo!! the staff was immediately incredibly welcoming and showed us all the amenities and our wonderful room with a perfect garden view. the food was incredible and they even adjusted everything to be vegan for me!! we unfortunately had a less than desired experience at a different ryokan right after our perfect experience at Seryo which just affirmed that Seryo was the right decision!! highly recommend and would love to go back again in the future!

Overall: 12/10! Food: superb, cleanliness: absolutely spotless, hospitality: the best I have ever experienced, views: breathtaking. The accessibility going up the hill can be a bit rough but there are taxis that can take you up and drop you off only a few steps from the doors. We arrived from downtown Kyoto and had no trouble finding where we needed to go. There are shops and temples all around the Ryokan (all within a ten minute walk), stunning trees and flowers along the way. We were not afraid to try out the sleepwear and a traditional Yukata for dinners, which is a big thing considering we are picky about our clothing. We were lucky enough to have a room the had it's own Onsen and garden. We spent a lot of our time drinking tea and eating sweets by the garden, spending quiet and peaceful time with each other and taking care of our bodies with "our vacation from our vacation". I have a food allergy and every meal we shared at this beautiful location was specifically catered towards my needs; I had no fear that there was cross-contamination or something was not translated properly. We felt at home the minute we walked in. We were respected and gracefully shown how everything in the Ryokan worked. This was our favorite part of our whole trip. Beautifull view of not only the country side but of the Japanese culture as well. We would come back to Japan just to stay in this Ryokan again.

We loved our stay at the Seryo Ryokan. The setting was perfect and the service fantastic. It had been many years since I was last in Ohara and it brought back memories. The staff went out of their way to address our needs. But the best thing about our stay was the superb dinner and wonderful breakfast. What a treat! We definitely would like to return to Ohara and stay here again.

Das Personal war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Hotel ist etwas weit weg von der Bushaltestelle und es geht Berg hoch bis zum Hotel. Deshalb empfiehlt es sich beim Hotel anzurufen und nach einem Transfer zu fragen. Auf dem Rückweg haben wir den Transfer in Anspruch genommen. Die Onsen waren nach Geschlechtern getrennt (so wie es in Japan üblich ist). Insgesamt waren die gemeinsamen Onsen aber sauber, einladend und schön. Das Essen ist typisch japanisch. Der Shabu Shabu hat uns gut geschmeckt, auch wenn es etwas Übung bedarf die Zutaten rechtzeitig rein und raus zu tun. Das Schönste war auf jeden Fall der kleine japanische Garten mit dem Koi-Teich hinter den Zimmern. Alles in allem hat uns das gut gefallen im Hotel

Loved this family-owned and operated Ryokan. The attention to detail and service was impeccable. The meals were an experience onto their own - absolutely delightful and delicious. Wonderful location to hike and visit temples near by. Secluded and serene location in the mountains. A little hard to get to from Kyoto, but worth the effort. Wish we had stayed longer.

The property was beautiful. The bath, gardens, and room were all amazing. The meal offered was really good and they give you a welcome drink and snack. There are shops, places to eat, and shrines nearby with an opportunity to walk to a waterfall. The staff was very nice and attentive. Free shuttle to the nearest bus station. Amazing and peaceful stay. I highly recommend staying here.

we had an amazing time at Seryo!! the staff was immediately incredibly welcoming and showed us all the amenities and our wonderful room with a perfect garden view. the food was incredible and they even adjusted everything to be vegan for me!! we unfortunately had a less than desired experience at a different ryokan right after our perfect experience at Seryo which just affirmed that Seryo was the right decision!! highly recommend and would love to go back again in the future!

Overall: 12/10! Food: superb, cleanliness: absolutely spotless, hospitality: the best I have ever experienced, views: breathtaking. The accessibility going up the hill can be a bit rough but there are taxis that can take you up and drop you off only a few steps from the doors. We arrived from downtown Kyoto and had no trouble finding where we needed to go. There are shops and temples all around the Ryokan (all within a ten minute walk), stunning trees and flowers along the way. We were not afraid to try out the sleepwear and a traditional Yukata for dinners, which is a big thing considering we are picky about our clothing. We were lucky enough to have a room the had it's own Onsen and garden. We spent a lot of our time drinking tea and eating sweets by the garden, spending quiet and peaceful time with each other and taking care of our bodies with "our vacation from our vacation". I have a food allergy and every meal we shared at this beautiful location was specifically catered towards my needs; I had no fear that there was cross-contamination or something was not translated properly. We felt at home the minute we walked in. We were respected and gracefully shown how everything in the Ryokan worked. This was our favorite part of our whole trip. Beautifull view of not only the country side but of the Japanese culture as well. We would come back to Japan just to stay in this Ryokan again.

We loved our stay at the Seryo Ryokan. The setting was perfect and the service fantastic. It had been many years since I was last in Ohara and it brought back memories. The staff went out of their way to address our needs. But the best thing about our stay was the superb dinner and wonderful breakfast. What a treat! We definitely would like to return to Ohara and stay here again.
We loved our stay at the Seryo Ryokan. The setting was perfect and the service fantastic. It had been many years since I was last in Ohara and it brought back memories. The staff went out of their way to address our needs. But the best thing about our stay was the superb dinner and wonderful breakfast. What a treat! 깨끗하고 정원도 정말 이쁘고 직원분들도 친절하셨어요!! 밥은 한국인 입맛에는 잘 안맞을 수도 있는데 (참고로 저 비위약함..) 느끼하거나 가쓰오부시 국물 좋아하시면 잘 맞을거에요 주변에 산젠인 호젠인 볼것도 있구요!! 힐링하다가 왔습니다 온천도 너무 좋더라구요ㅠ 근데 오보로 방에 묵었는데 에어컨/히터기 소음이 너무 심해요.. 저는 잘 잤는데 제 남편은 한숨도 못잤다고하네요 ㅠ_ㅠ

This is by far the most beautiful and relaxing hotel we stayed at while in Japan. Highly recommend this experience. The pictures do not do this place justice. It’s stunning and so well kept. The Hot Pot, Shabu Shabu dinner was also the best meal we had during our entire trip!

We had a wonderful experience staying at the hotel. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout our stay. I accidentally lost one of my earrings in the hot spring shower area, and the staff went above and beyond to help me locate it. Their kindness and assistance were greatly appreciated.

Exceptionally nice staff. Beautiful onsen and most of the time had the whole onsen to myself, and it’s limited to 4 people at a time at max. The breakfast was amazing. Really nice garden view from our room which is shared with other rooms but felt private. There are also lots of shops and temples to explore in Ohara that are much less crowded than Kyoto.
