This property is great and the rooms are clean. The shower had an inside curtain that was shorter than the tub, so water from the shower was getting everywhere. I wish they had room service or some kind of small kiosk for buying snacks or basic nerds. Great hotel though. One of the most interesting buildings in Buffalo and close enough to downtown.

It's a historic building and well restored. Unfortunately my room was not ready at 4:30 in the afternoon and the restaurant was closed. But I was given a complimentary glass of wine at the bar. The hotel is close to the Albright Knox art museum and the Elmwood village. Parking is free. The continental breakfast is included and was lavish!

Beautiful building! The only drawback was that there was not restaurant or bar operating in the building, yet. They did offer many recommendations in the area, however. Service was good.

The hotel was amazing. I loved staying there and learning about some of the history, as it used to be an old insane asylum. Not a lot of amenities but for the price it wasn’t bad. They need to update and put mini fridges or microwaves in the rooms. A pool would be nice as well. Overall I would stay here again.

I have stayed at this property before years ago when it was the Hotel Henry. It’s a beautiful place with a lot of history. It’s wonderful to see it running again and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My only concern was the lack of parking, especially when there was a wedding happening upon check in. We couldn’t find anywhere to park our car for quite some time.

Cool restoration of a historic building. Bedding and towels were nicely laundered. Quiet. Restaurant, bar and cafe all closed and only open on weekends. No housekeeping. In room coffee station poorly stocked (one coffee pod during entire stay). No hand soap in bathroom. I expect more for $250 per night.

WOW!! I LOVED this property!! The history is so fascinating and everything inside fits with the charm of the building. I loved the high ceilings and the fact that there was a gym right in the building. We stayed there to attend a concert, which was just a walk down the street. Everything was so clean, safe, close to shopping and restaurants, and literally perfect. We will definitely be back!

The Richardson is a fabulous looking converted psychiatric hospital. Where my room was attractive and clean, I received no room service in three days. I needed to call the front desk for clean towels. The staff all very friendly. I did like my extremely quiet, very high ceiling room. The food in the bar/restaurant was mediocre. The brrakfast offerings subpar. I would stay there again for the attractive room and convenience of location.

Sheets were dirty twice. I asked for a new set of sheets due to the first set of sheets not being clean. my hair is blonde but the hair was long dark brown The replacement sheets had hair on there as well. Maybe the washing machine or and dryer is not clean

The hotel is unique and spectacular looking. It is a converted mental health facility, though it was once probably termed an asylum. The room was clean though in three days I had no visit from room service. The restaurant food was fine. The breakfast (included) lack luster. I would stay there again.

The room was not clean; there was hair left on the bed spread, the shower curtain had brown stains on it, and it appeared the towels had not been washed. We were supposed to stay in a room on the Olmstead Campus wing but did not end up staying here due to the conditions of the room.

The “free” breakfast was pitiful and the room was not serviced. I get no fresh towels but I would have expected at least the garbage to be emptied and the bed made. I paid 315 per night and feel that it was not at all worth it. Very disappointed.

The property itself is quite unique. I have put relatives here 5X. Unfortunately, the hotel is soon likely to be two-star. Lack of room cleaning. I had family in 2 rooms, 1 Cleaned daily, the other never touched. Makes NO sense. Sunday brunch was lovely. Monday morning breakfast, NO MILK. Coffee, NO MILK. Dry cereal with no milk. My 88 year old Dad was like, they must be having $ troubles. In a real hotel, someone would have run to TOPS or Wegman's. Where is the hotel leadership/management? On the way out, at the front desk on a Monday morning there was NO service. It is hard to critique service, when there is NO service to critique. There was a horrid smell near the elevator exit. Was told it was the grease trap. UGH! Who wants to get off the elevator and smell cesspool like odor? The rooms were far enough away to be malodorous free Not sure I will put my family up here when they visit in the future.

Very interesting building especially if you have interest in architecture. Excellent remodel of an old building, rooms and hotel interior feel modern. One improvement would be if hotel could address the heating system in room as main vent fan blows directly into your face as you sleep. Perhaps need different vent cover to change air flow direction.

The property itself is a nice experience. However, the rooms are so tiny for being as overpriced as they are. No closet, no fridge. Lots of wasted space in the multiple lobby areas that could have been incorporated into the rooms. The shower leaked all over the floor through the poorly sealed glass door. Definitely not worth the price.

This is a truly gorgeous hotel. The property has been lovingly restored and is really beautiful. Our guest room LOOKED beautiful as well. However, beds were not particularly comfortable and both my sister and I were creaky as hell the next morning as a result. There also appears to be a problem with the plumbing. I definitely want to visit again and take a historic tour of the property, but I'm not inclined to stay again.

Rooms and hallways are incredibly spacious. Quiet on the weekdays, but seemed notably busier on Saturday night into Sunday. Definitely off the beaten path relative to Downtown Buffalo but still walkable, though a bit more challenging in the winter.

Awkwardly, Expedia sold us the room but this hotel is new and does not have their booking set with Expedia. So, they didn't have a reservation for us but luckily had a vacancy so could fit us in. The property and staff are great - booking through Expedia was not

The room was great good and small, somthing I would expect. However, they advertized laundry service and there was none. They advertized a full bar and only had beer and wine and not a good variety. No room service, no room cleaning. The "Free" Breakfast was on a platic roll cart and often cold and stale. The front Desk attendant was rude to me and my wife. For the price and service we would have had a better stay at a Courtyard Marriot
The room was great good and small, somthing I would expect. However, they advertized laundry service and there was none. They advertized a full bar and only had beer and wine and not a good variety. No room service, no room cleaning. The "Free" Breakfast was on a platic roll cart and often cold and stale. The front Desk attendant was rude to me and my wife. For the price and service we would have had a better stay at a Courtyard Marriot

Beautiful historic location brought back to life by incredible renovation and restoration project. Unfortunately our stay was soured by what I assume was a booking error followed by empty promises to make things right and a total lack of management response. We booked a king room which was somehow not available when we arrived. We were put in a double full room for the night and told we’d be put in the correct room tomorrow. Next day, I asked the desk when we’d be moving and was met with confusion. He told me he’d give me a call later in the day, never did. Went to the desk later that day and was told “well if we put you in that room, someone else will be in the wrong room”. Not really my problem. Asked several times to be contacted by management and have called daily since, they have not returned my call. All staff I’ve spoken to seem disgruntled by the lack of management. Tried going through Expedia for some kind of reimbursement- this was a romantic getaway we spent in separate beds. And Expedia was denied a refund by the hotel. Disrespectful and downright disgraceful management of an absolutely stunning property. Would have loved to go back year after year- doubt we will return now.

I had booked a room at the property for two days i.e. from 29th to 31st for which I made the payment upfront. When I arrived on July 29th to check in, they told me that someone from their management cancelled my reservation on July 07, 2024, for which I did not receive any prior notification. However, the manager arranged for a room. Then on the 30th at 11:00 PM, I get a phone call from the reception telling me I was suppose to check out on the 30th again I did not get any prior notifications. I was then asked at 11:00 PM if I wanted to extend my stay. Mind you I have already paid for 2 nights, with no other option I had to agree as I had an exam the next day and I did not want any unnecessary hassle. The next day when I went at the front desk to speak with the manager and sort the confusion no one was available to speak with. I was told that the manager will be available in the evening so I went again in the evening but again no one was available to help me with the situation. The lady at the reception gave me emails of all the people I could get in touch with I have send emails to all of them but I have not received any answers from anyone. My experience was not the most pleasant one with them, there was no coordination amongst the staff, their systems was pulling up completely different information from what was communicated to me during my reservation. All in all not a good experience.

We had a wonderful stay here. The building is massive. You could spend hours just looking around at all of the architecture and discovering the nooks and crannies of this place. The entire building was immaculate. Jessica helped to check us in. She was friendly and helpful. There was a limited Continental breakfast available. It was a comfortable stay overall. What a great experience in this historical place!

We had the best stay at the Richardson again. We truly love this beautiful historic place. This time around we made friends with the fantastic front desk receptionist, Todd. He was very warm and engaging and shared all his knowledge of Buffalo and the surrounding areas. We had so much fun learning from him and visiting the places he recommended. Thanks to Todd, we will likely be staying in one of the fabulous 4th floor suites upon our next stay! We were so amazed by them! Thanks for a great stay! P.s we really miss the cafe and we’re saddened by its closure. Hoping for something wonderful to move back in that space.

Difficult if you don't have own transport to get around. We had to uber to niagara falls. To get to buffalo we had to take a bus which was confusing if you don't know the area. But saying that the hotel is a magnificent building to explore with a museum in the basement and we got a complimentary breakfast.

Our stay was perfect, one of our favorite places to stay in the Buffalo area. Beautiful, comfortable, and clean rooms and spaces. We love that it so convenient to Elmwood Village and our local family.

The Richardson is a fabulous looking converted psychiatric hospital. Where my room was attractive and clean, I received no room service in three days. I needed to call the front desk for clean towels. The staff all very friendly. I did like my extremely quiet, very high ceiling room. The food in the bar/restaurant was mediocre. The brrakfast offerings subpar. I would stay there again for the attractive room and convenience of location.

Excellent hotel. Converted/renovated insane asylum, this added a wonderfully strange touch to it. Free parking. Nice walk to Elmwood road, with lots of cool places to eat. About an hour walk to downtown. Breakfast was terrible and seating arrangements at breakfast were terrible, otherwise it would have got the 5th star.

The hotel is unique and spectacular looking. It is a converted mental health facility, though it was once probably termed an asylum. The room was clean though in three days I had no visit from room service. The restaurant food was fine. The breakfast (included) lack luster. I would stay there again.

Wonderful property in a great neighborhood. Walking distance to the museum and Elmwood village. Staff was professional, courteous and friendly. Loved the bar, staff and food>. Truly the best hotel food we;ve ever tasted! We hope to come back to Buffalo and if so we will stay here again.

Came for the architecture, which is amazing. $300 a night and was smaller than a European Hotel No way that was a queen bed. No fridge. Breakfast awful, no I mean really awful. Starbucks on campus does not open till noon and no where else close to get coffee. Good Italian across the street for dinner. No one at the desk when we checked out, a phone number for service rang at the front desk. They refused to email me a receipt. Stayed there last year, I will not stay again but I doubt it will be open.

Very nice experience, history, location, cleanliness, and staff! We wish the breakfast had more variety. Other then bread and muffin, there was only scrambled egg, bacon, and french toast. Yoghurt, cereals, boiled eggs, veggies, and more fruits would've been nice, especially for kids. Thank you.

The hotel its'self is a beautifully renovated historic property. It is clean and well decorated. The issue is the staff and the food, both are way under par particularly for the prices they are charging. We had drinks in the bar and dinner in the dinning room. Drinks are over priced when the service is mediocre at best. The bar is very small and no excuse for not seeing us sitting at the table in front of the bar.I had to go to the bar and ask to be served. Dinner the dinning room was a major disappointment. Pasta was $25-30 a plate, no bread , and one protion was a full size and the other was less than a cup. no refills for water, dirty dishes on the table when dessert was served. 6 people in the restaurant so no excuse. And who has an Italian restaurant with no expresso machine! The front desk staff are not friendly, and very close to rude. For a hotel trying to sell itself as a 4 star hotel, they need to seriously work on the food and beverage service and quality and the front of the house staffing needs a full overhaul.

In general we liked this hotel, it was historic, well maintained and the bed and amenities were very good. However there was no hand soap in the bathroom so we had to step inside the shower to get soap to wash our hands and there was a half filled Sprite bottle behind the luggage bench.However, our biggest issue was with breakfast . We went into the dining room and ordered breakfast 9:05 and told the staff we had 10 am tickets so Martin House which is about 8 minutes to away and we were all packed to we thought we had plenty of time. At 9:25 we still had no food and would be late even if the food did arrive. We told them to cancel the order and left although there was no one at the front desk at prime checkout time. I like the hotel and wish it well but not sure if I would stay there again.
