Great hotel, the breakfast had a great variety and you could even order from a menu and it was included. Rooftop patio was nice. Only one hot tub, so a little crowded. Parking on site and some very close by so not an issue. Staff were great.

Great hotel in central location with comfortable room. Immaculately clean everywhere. Lovely rooftop pool, excellent spa facilities with indoor pool, sauna and steam room. Breakfast choices and.service were very good with fabulous fruit every day and tasty fresh egg dishes. Didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening. So convenient for all sights, dining and shopping. Would definitely visit again.

We had an amazing stay at Castanheiro Boutique Hotel. The staff couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly. Any request was granted with a smile. Our room had long views over the sea and the surroundings. We enjoyed using the rooftop pool and spa pool with the sauna and steam room. A very varied variety of the inclusive breakfast each morning set us up for each day. The hotel is perfectly placed for walking to central Funchal, and a very short walk to the beach

The check-in was extremely welcoming, the room was lovely and all staff were helpful and friendly. This is a great hotel, the rooftop area is a real treat, esp. when the sun is shining.

Location is excellent. Despite being only a couple blocks from all the restaurants, shops, and bars, the hotel is perfectly located on a quiet side street. Our included breakfast was among the best I have experienced anywhere. Service was excellent and both the quality and choice of foods was perfect. The hotel facilities, from the sauna, fitness center, etc. and the rooftop lap pool and whirlpool are wonderful. Our room was upgraded to a beautiful suite. This is really a top hotel in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood that would be my first choice if visiting Funchal again.

Helpful staff, central location, comfy bed, tired gym, great happy hour every night we were there, good food, we were b&b but ate in hotel restaurant 3 nights out of 7. Would definitely consider going back to Madeira and this hotel but there are so many destinations to reach before that happens!!

Everyone on the hotel staff was so nice and made us feel at home. The hotel was beautiful with wonderful views of the city. The pool deck was really nice and relaxing. Our spa services were outstanding!

Ein sehr schön gelegenes Hotel! Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Insbesondere eine Dame an der Rezeption verbreitete gute Laune. Das Reinigungspersonal arbeitete sehr fleissig und gut. Leider hörte man in unserem Zimmer in der ersten Etage wie die Sessel und Tische in der Bar darunter laut über den Boden geschoben wurden, wenn abends aufgeräumt wurde. Man gewöhnte sich aber daran.

Incrível hotel, aconchegante, extremamente bem localizado no centro do Funchal, serviço muito atencioso, restaurantes excelentes, instalações limpas, um SPA maravilhoso e uma piscina agradável no topo do hotel, com uma visita espetacular da cidade. Viajem de casal, adoramos e vamos voltar.

The facility was clean and elegant. The staff was all friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that we did not have a bathtub. They showed them in the add and I requested a rm with a tub. It was nice that the had a hot tub on the room. It was wonderful up there. When I return I will stay there.

Overall a good experience. Our room was upgraded to a junior suite upon arrival which was a nice touch however a night there was a lot of noise until late as well as early in the morning. I’m not sure if this was due to location of the room (being on first floor and above the dining room/kitchen). It was difficult to sleep, especially if you’re a light sleeper.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel at the friendly staff at the reception. The food at dinner was not really great and the overall service in the restaurant for breakfast/ dinner as well. The coffe was old and cold when served, or nobody served one for a long time etc

I was blown away!!! They are absolutely amazing!!! We had a 10 hr delay and upon arrival they met us with sparkling wine, directions to restaurants that were open late since we didn’t get to the hotel till after 11pm hungry and exhausted. The hotel restaurant was phenomenal!! We ate there once for dinner, every day for breakfast and dessert one night. We have GF/DF restrictions and they accommodated and made it completely normal. The spa was great, we did the couples massage and love it. They realized it was my bday and had a whole set up by the pool. The location was absolutely amazing as well. We rented a car but didn’t use it much. We had dinner reservations and dolphins tour all within minutes plus extremely nice just to be able to leave the hotel and be downtown and having the availability to explore and see all the shops and attractions. Just be worn the parking is a tight squeeze so can be a little stressful to go in and out, but next to the hotel which makes it extremely helpful.

From the minute we stepped in the front door we were made to feel welcomed. They went out of their way to make our visit special. The hotel is lovely and had so many amenities that we didn't even have a chance to use them all. Even when we told them we were checking out before breakfast (which is excellent) they offered to pack us a picnic to take to the airport with us. We would highly recommend this establishment.

Wir haben eine wundervolle Woche im Castanheiro Boutique Hotel verbracht. Das Hotel liegt in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße und ist dennoch so zentral, dass in Funchal alles zu Fuß erreichbar ist. Gassen mit Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants sowie der Hafen liegt im Umkreis von 2 bis max. 10 Minuten. Der Service war äußerst zuvorkommend. Uns wurde ein Flughafentransfer gegen Gebühr organisiert und wir hatten stets Unterstützung bei der Planung und Buchung unserer Ausflüge. Wir konnten uns zu jeder Zeit mit unseren Fragen an das Personal wenden. Sogar die Buchung eines Mietwagens wurde für uns übernommen. Dieser ist empfehlenswert, wenn man weiter entfernte Orte auf der Insel ohne touristische Gruppe und unabhängig erkunden möchte. Eine Parkmöglichkeit bietet das Hotel ebenfalls, allerdings gegen Gebühr. Wir hatten den Mietwagen über's Wochenende und da gibt es Zonen in der Altstadt, wo man auch kostenlos parken kann. Tasteful refurbishment of an old property. Very friendly management and staff. Excellent breakfast, catering in general first class. We were celebrating our anniversary and when returning after a day out found champagne and chocolates in our room, a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Location is excellent. Despite being only a couple blocks from all the restaurants, shops, and bars, the hotel is perfectly located on a quiet side street. Our included breakfast was among the best I have experienced anywhere. Service was excellent and both the quality and choice of foods was perfect. The hotel facilities, from the sauna, fitness center, etc. and the rooftop lap pool and whirlpool are wonderful. Our room was upgraded to a beautiful suite. This is really a top hotel in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood that would be my first choice if visiting Funchal again.

Fantastic hotel in a great location that was close to harbour, shops and restaurants. Located in a quiet road. Lovely, well equipped room and excellent breakfast. New Year’s celebrations were outstanding and we especially enjoyed being able to view the fireworks on the roof garden, with free drinks and food provided. All of this was enhanced by a wonderful staff team. A great stay.

Great hotel, the breakfast had a great variety and you could even order from a menu and it was included. Rooftop patio was nice. Only one hot tub, so a little crowded. Parking on site and some very close by so not an issue. Staff were great.

This was our second stay at the hotel, this time with friends, who enjoyed their visit as much as we did. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food for the vegetarians in the group. The facilities and rooms were excellent. The location is ideal. I'm hoping we'll be able to visit again!

Lovely hotel right in the heart of the old town so very easy to walk to shops, sights and the seafront. The room was very comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom. The food in the restaurant was amazing and really good value for money. Breakfast included was varied, plentiful and delicious. Shout out to all the staff especially in the restaurant who were so friendly and really looked after you. Would definitely stay again.

We had a truly wonderful 5-night stay at the Castanheiro Boutique Hotel! Every single member of the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the entire hotel was spotless. The breakfast was lovely with a fantastic variety of choice to start the day. It’s a buffet style but you can also order item cooked fresh. To top it off, the rooftop pool area is simply amazing—easily the best in Funchal! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would definitely recommend!

We got a stunning room (an upgrade I guess, as we were celebrating a special occasion). All the rooms seemed to have lovely balconies. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great and the dining courtyard was so lovely and peaceful. The rooftop pool was a great place to relax after busy hiking days. The people at the hotel (we saw Claudia at the main desk the most) were warm and very helpful. The location was excellent and they have parking right next door. My only suggestion would be that they should replace the glass/ clear plastic barrier on the rooftop to make the pool area feel nicer. It’s got a great view but somewhat obstructed by this foggy clear barrier. Overall we loved this hotel and would stay here again

We didn't eat in the restaurant as we were on a very tight budget (only there due to flight delay) but the menus looked really nice and had we been staying longer and on our terms, we would have.
