Very nice hotel in the middle of Tain. Staff was excellent. The rooms were spacious and clean. Loved sitting on the front porch in the morning with a cup of joe and a freshly baked meat pie and watch the city come alive. Lots to do and the whisky tours were close by.

Friendly staff. Good whiskey bar. Thevhotel is tired and needing a lot of work to improve it. No power in the room in morning. One staff member available to do breakfast and sort out power problem.

The Hotel is located in the centre of Tain with plenty of parking. The staff are fantastic, smiling, helpful and precise. The breakfast buffet layout is the best I have seen. The 2 cooked breakfasts that I had were just fantastic.

The hotel is spacious, has ample parking and is near all the town amenities but is a bit old and tired. The resident manager appears to run it single handed and does a brilliant job. In a part of the world where hotel accommodation in the main tourist season is often eye-wateringly over-priced this is a good option for working travellers.

Its got parking is the only positive. A once beautiful building left to rot. The staff they had tried his best but wanted a lot of help. Wallpaper hanging off walls, musty smell, avoid at all costs.

The room was comfortable and a large comfy bed, nice en suite, the food was excellent big enough portions. Nice comfy settees in lounge . The manager was very pleasant and always had time for a chat. Would definitely stay here again .

My stay was comfortable and friendly. The food was of a good standard. The room was clean and functional but a little dated in style. The Wifi was adequate most of the time, however it was not available everywhere in the room, only worked in one particular spot. Housekeeping was available every day. The staff was small but friendly and accommodating. All in all a good stay.

Do not stay here. This beautiful old hotel has gone to rack and ruin. The bedrooms were clean but that was about the only thing. The bathroom had a heated radiator that has the wires taped together with insulation tape and a PAT test sticker on it from 2018. The tv in the room had no signal, the curtains didn’t close properly. We didn’t even stop to have breakfast just a coffee was enough with food left out uncovered and more than enough flies to put you off. The waiter had a dirty shirt and trousers on. The chair legs stuck to the carpet! There is visible damp in almost every room we went in. The staff eat their evening meal in the bar area with one of them even monitoring his blood pressure regularly! For £120 a night it was a disgrace. Never again!!!

It was a very sad hotel. Super dated, grubby, I was ill from my evening meal, one member of safe, weird music for dinner and breakfast, place smelt like it was rotting in front of me.

Dirty rooms, tv’s done work, windows held open but cut of pieces of wood/timber. Dirty bathroom’s and a shower that does not work! If knew how to ask for a refund I would. Loud and nosey guests all night long with no night manager to contact

The room was spacious and comfortable but a bit outdated. The room had an enormous window and the blind, when pulled down was ill fitting so the light woke us up at 5am. The TV didn't work which was disappointing. The hotel was generally dusty and needed some TLC. However, dinner and breakfast was very good and the staff friendly. and helpful.

I had a pleasant stay. There are a few simple things to improve on but it is an old building and it may not always be straightforward. Wi-Fi was strangely weak even though there was a router outside my room. Only slight issue was whilst the welcome was friendly there was little information given out on matters such as WiFi codes and breakfast times. I would happily stay again just for the fantastic fried breakfast.

WE were overcharged on bar drinks on the first evening. The issue we tried to resolve with the staff, but they refused to accept, paid a £7 refund which ultimately reduced the Bill from £85.00 down to £70. after discussions. The drinks we had however, base don the individual drinks price could not be added up to £70.00. Consequently we used an alternative outside bar for an evenings drink. Additionally, room 19 had no bathroom mirror. The only mirror was the other side of the room. The television in the room was not connected nor had a coaxial cable to connect it so it could not be used. It was also a small television and not the standard 32" TV one would expect. We will not use this hotel in future.

Staff very friendly and breakfast was good. The property is looking tired in urgent need of refurbishment. We stayed in room 24, the curtains didn’t cover the full width of the window, wallpaper was hanging off the wall, the electric radiator in the bathroom had insulation tape wrapped around the connection, tape was along the top of the bath side panel, the tv is positioned at 90 degrees to the bed which is not ideal for viewing, one bedside light kept flickering.

I have to say that I was a bit dubious of my upcoming stay here after reading so many negative reviews. We really enjoyed our one night stay here. We were in such a huge room which felt so incredibly spacious. The staff were friendly and worked really hard to ensure that guests enjoyed their stay. Yes there could be some decor improvement as a little dated or worn but none of this really impacted our stay. The breakfast was nice and the staff were accommodating with any additional request.

On arrival I was upgraded to “the boardroom “. Great but the downside was a TV the did not work because of the aerial connection. Lovely big bathroom with new fitttings, but the bath did not drain.

The property needs upkeep. The floor in the hallway has spots where it is very soft. If the carpet weren’t there you might step through. Finding an outlet to charge devices was not easy. The WiFi is slow and we had to ask for the password, it was not given at check in or posted anywhere in our room. The key to our room did not work and we had to ask for one that did. The free breakfast was a table full of open cereal boxes. We won’t be back.

My family and I really enjoyed the old school feel of this hotel, and the fact that it is family owned and operated. It’s a real treat to have such wonderful hospitality, and owners who care about going the extra mile. We arrived late and all the restaurants were closed; the owner helped us order food. We are three (two adults and a 6-year-old); the owner didn’t hesitate to supply us with a rollaway bed. My daughter had a wonderful time chatting with the family and their daughter, and overall we really appreciated the realness of this experience - so much so that I’m leaving a review, which I never do! This was a lovely little town with everything in walking distance. One word of caution: if you’re the type of traveller that like chain hotels and everything being brand-new, this isn’t the place for you. It’s old and has character! It’s clean and welcoming, just shows its age. I hope we can come back one day!

I found the hotel good but agree with past reviews it does need money investing in it. Our room was massive with 4 poster bed and balcony. We ate in the restaurant and the fish and chips were top notch. But best of all was the service received from Jim the man who’s seems to run the hotel all on his own. He made us feel like we were staying in a 5 star hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel in the middle of Tain. Staff was excellent. The rooms were spacious and clean. Loved sitting on the front porch in the morning with a cup of joe and a freshly baked meat pie and watch the city come alive. Lots to do and the whisky tours were close by.

The Hotel is located in the centre of Tain with plenty of parking. The staff are fantastic, smiling, helpful and precise. The breakfast buffet layout is the best I have seen. The 2 cooked breakfasts that I had were just fantastic.

For a cheaper property, I really enjoyed this place. The room was spacious. The staff were very friendly and polite. As a stopover for me on the NC500, it was perfect and I enjoyed my two nights here.

The hotel is spacious, has ample parking and is near all the town amenities but is a bit old and tired. The resident manager appears to run it single handed and does a brilliant job. In a part of the world where hotel accommodation in the main tourist season is often eye-wateringly over-priced this is a good option for working travellers.

My family and I really enjoyed the old school feel of this hotel, and the fact that it is family owned and operated. It’s a real treat to have such wonderful hospitality, and owners who care about going the extra mile. We arrived late and all the restaurants were closed; the owner helped us order food. We are three (two adults and a 6-year-old); the owner didn’t hesitate to supply us with a rollaway bed. My daughter had a wonderful time chatting with the family and their daughter, and overall we really appreciated the realness of this experience - so much so that I’m leaving a review, which I never do! This was a lovely little town with everything in walking distance. One word of caution: if you’re the type of traveller that like chain hotels and everything being brand-new, this isn’t the place for you. It’s old and has character! It’s clean and welcoming, just shows its age. I hope we can come back one day!

Run by a lovely family. This hotel is right on the John o’Groats trail (and in the centre of Tain) and provided a very comfortable nights stay after a long days walk. I noticed it also provides /thinks of the details that not all hotels (along the trail) do…. Bottled water, big pack of shortbread, giant tv (not the tiny wee ones you often get on the wall), alarm clock, in shower mat….

I had a pleasant stay. There are a few simple things to improve on but it is an old building and it may not always be straightforward. Wi-Fi was strangely weak even though there was a router outside my room. Only slight issue was whilst the welcome was friendly there was little information given out on matters such as WiFi codes and breakfast times. I would happily stay again just for the fantastic fried breakfast.

It was a very sad hotel. Super dated, grubby, I was ill from my evening meal, one member of safe, weird music for dinner and breakfast, place smelt like it was rotting in front of me.

I found the hotel good but agree with past reviews it does need money investing in it. Our room was massive with 4 poster bed and balcony. We ate in the restaurant and the fish and chips were top notch. But best of all was the service received from Jim the man who’s seems to run the hotel all on his own. He made us feel like we were staying in a 5 star hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

This place looked great online, but disappointed in every area. It has potential but is very outdated and tired. Wifi & TV didn't work, bathroom had a "spongy" floor, breakfast was mediocre. And there was pretty much zero happening in the town- not this fault of course- we stayed there because we did some tours in area. Pros: it had free parking and the owners/managers were very nice and accommodating. But sadly, that didn't make up for the price we payed and the overall experience.

部屋は綺麗で広かったが、アンティークの家具をそのまま使用しているのでメンテナンスが必要な部分はありました。（私はアンティークの部屋に泊まってみたかったので満足はしています） メインの通りに面した部屋だったのですが、それほど外の音は気になりませんでした。 スタッフは親切でフレンドリーでした。

Decent hotel, bed was comfortable and there was no shortage of drinks to choose from at the bar! Some areas do need some TLC as the building is showing its age. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic with so much choice.
