It's a historic hotel. Has free parking. Great ambience. Surrounded by beautiful historic small downtown. Visiting our granddaughter who is a freshman at Kenyon University, so we hope to visit her many more times before she graduates. We live near Indianapolis, IN, so about a 4-hour drive. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Expedia got us a great rate.

So it was okay but the more I considered the rating of this hotel the worse I felt it was. I could hear the neighbors next door until 2 am. The sink is outside of the bathroom which makes it very hard to get ready without waking everyone in the room. We had forgot our toothpaste and I figured they would have travel toothpaste to give to guests at such a nice hotel. They gave us these toothbrushes that you wet to activate toothpaste that were awful. The food at the breakfast was terrible and the plastic use was off the charts. Also the exercise room is a windowless box with 2 pieces of equipment and some free weights. Not worth the money at all!

It was a great price for a good stay. There were some very noisy neighbors above us the first night, but the other two nights were quiet. I would recommend staying there. Their free breakfast was great and tasty. Free parking saved us additional charges. We’ll definitely be back to stay there again.

This hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. The room was super clean and charming. We were able to walk to our venue at Knox Memorial. Private Parking was right next to the entrance. We highly recommend The Grand for your stay while passing through Mount Vernon.

Beautiful property!! Very clean and well taken care of. The lady at the front desk was super helpful and friendly, she went above and beyond to make sure our stay was good. She even wrote down a list of restaurants in the area while we checked in. Great stay at a very affordable cost!

The front desk and restaurant staff were very nice. However...when I went to get into the shower, there were three HUGE clumps of long hair stuck to the walls of the shower. GROSS!! The shower also turned ice cold after about 7 minutes (in our new room).

Great setting on the town square, good location. Problem was the HVAC went out on our 2 day stay on the 4th floor, sleep was terrible as it was 74° at night even as it was 35° outside. No offer of any help was given to us except a fan to move around warm air. No other room, no discount for a major issue.

I was very pleased with my stay except for the fact that they neglected to properly sound proof the rooms so you don’t hear someone watching tv, flush their toilet, sneeze, cough, laugh or cry. Also when you walked across the room the furniture shook from the poor subfloor stabilization. You should be able to expect that you have privacy in a room that you pay good money for. My suggestion is that they need to put more insulation in the walls and do a better job of stabilizing the floors.

Real coffee cups and water glasses in the room were a very nice touch. Room was very clean and comfortable. My wife has celiac disease and appreciated the gluten free items available at breakfast. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Mount Vernon is a nice little town to visit, stay at the Grand when you do. You won't regret it.

The hotel is clean, nicely decorated for holiday season. Thermostat worked poorly in our room: temperature stayed at 71F until morning even though I lowered temperature to 65F in the evening. At breakfast, harsh brown was uncooked, completely white, lukewarm. There was no decaffeinated tea option .

The front desk ladies were so welcoming and inviting to us! We told them it was our 34th anniversary, and they surprised us by upgrading our room to one facing the park. The view was beautiful! We absolutely loved the room. It was decorated in the era of the hotel when it was originally built, which gave it so much charm and character. We really enjoyed the history and atmosphere. The breakfast was great, parking was easy, and the hotel is conveniently located near coffee shops, restaurants, and parks. We had such a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back!

Historical and beautiful yes. Clean yes. Lipstick on a pig. The beds were hard as rocks. The shower would turn ice cold every few minutes and stay that way for 45 to 60 seconds then 3or 4 min later turn cold again. Breakfast waited on cheese omelets for 30 min. Kept running out of food. Wasn't the greatest. Disappointed
