EVEN Hotel Brooklyn by IHG

one of two elevators was out of service the entire weekend, creating ridiculously long waits. We were on the 10th floor and ended up taking the stairs twice.

Free flavored waters available in the lobby. Room was clean and updated, easy subway and shopping access

We had a bad experience with the parking garage that is not the hotel’s parking, but the parking at 333 Sherman parking when we arrived, we were told we had to register and could not pay them directly. We had to pay online and ended up paying $47 for parking plus an additional $20.89 because we parked earlier than we were supposed to for our reservation

Overall we had a good experience at the Even Hotel for our first visit to NY. Entire Hotel and our room was very clean. Bathroom was a bit dated but VERY clean(most important). Towels were scratchy but clean and room service came daily and changed our sheets and tidied up the room and left the bathroom spotless, shower doors were spotless every day! King mattress and pillows were marvelously comfortable and the bedside charging station was a big win. Front lobby was lovely as was the guest lounge area. Staff was friendly and efficient. The evening bartender, Charisma, was outstanding! She made our stay extra fun for sure, despite the bar being out of many items our entire 4 night stay. There was a small outdoor space off the lounge that was quite lovely but the lock on the door malfunctioned so we were not able to get out there our final morning. A couple other things to note: only 1 elevator was working for our entire stay, fancy coffee machines weren't working and remote food ordering computers were down often. One more note - upon check in my initial bill did not reflect the "member" discount of near;y $500. When I brought this to their attention the front desk clerk was hesitant to research but the onshift manager stepped in immediately and resolved the issue explaining that sometimes when we book through a discount site like (Hotels.com) those prices don't transfer to the hotel. Across the street one block to right is Black Seed Bagels!! Really Delicious!!

Location was great. However, the "business center" was a joke and staff were rude.

Loved the flavored water in lobby but one of only two elevators was out of service, so that was inconvenient. Mostly a good stay, though.

This place is perfectly located in Brooklyn! Walkable to Brooklyn Bridge & zoo & botanical garden and so many subway stops nearby. I went from here to Manhattan no problem and sane to Aquarium. Loved yoga and flex bands in room. Workout room nice. Def staying here again

The hotel is in need of renovation. My toilet ran nonstop, despite letting the hotel staff know on the first day of my visit. Only one of the elevators was operational. In places repainting was done in different colors. The punny environmental print EVERYWHERE is quite dated.

The room had an slight odor but i was advised we couldnt be moved because they were fully booked. Also there is no parking or discount parking available for this property which was inconvenient. The staff was nice and courteous.

The EVEN Hotel is in a great location in Downtown Brooklyn–near shops, restaurants, activities and easy public transportation to Brooklyn and Manhattan. The room was decent, but mine needed a refresh as there was leftover hair and a used scrunchie but I had too much luggage and was too tired to switch rooms, so I just removed it. I was disappointed at check-in, as there were 3 male employees laughing and socializing with each other but no one greeted me or offered to help with my bags. The gentleman at checkout made it right with my room and was much more friendly, so I left with a better impression. Pros: location, decent rooms, safe for tourists. Cons: room size, service.

The room was clean and quiet although quite small and the towels could use an upgrade. The front desk and cleaning staff were friendly and informed. Easy location for transit.

There was a tick found in our bed — just 2 hours after checking in. Staff didn’t seem too concerned or bat an eye when I asked to switch room. New room was just as dirty/dusty with a molded shower head. It was unfortunate that our experience was ruined and couldn’t sleep or shower peacefully during our full stay.

We stayed for four nights. Friendly staff, clean and conveniently located. Would stay again.

The hotel unfortunately is not as pictured. The rooms are tired dated, shabby and grubby in places. I would not rate this a 4 star hotel. It’s in need of a refurbishment. The staff are friendly and helpful with daily maid service which you’d expect. Bed was comfortable and sheets clean but towels are not luxurious and the ones we got on a daily basis where threadbare in places. This is not IHG 4 star in UK standards.

Upon checking in, I immediately noticed that the room was not properly cleaned. For example: • The soap holder shelf in the shower had not been wiped at all. • The work desk had visible crumbs. • The Clorox wipes container for disinfecting workout equipment was empty. Fortunately, I always bring my own disinfectant spray, which I used to sanitize the room. However, the overall condition of the room was disappointing. The closet’s laminate was peeling, the towel rack was dented, and the desk chair was in poor condition, among other visible defects. Despite these concerns, I chose not to check out immediately because it was too last-minute to switch hotels without disrupting our scheduled plans. Unfortunately, that decision turned out to be a serious mistake. The most alarming issue occurred the following morning. At approximately 6:30 AM, my boyfriend woke up to use the restroom. Upon returning to bed, he noticed something moving quickly up the wall. When he turned on his flashlight, he saw a roach. I have photos documenting roaches on the wall, bed frame, and behind the lamp shade. At that point, we left the hotel as quickly as possible and reported the issue to the front desk. This experience was completely unacceptable. I do not understand how this hotel has the ratings or stars that it does. I deeply regret staying, especially given the risk of bringing roaches home with us. Only plus that it was walkable distance to the Barclays center

I don't normally write reviews, but I felt misled by the advertising on Expedia and wanted to express my concerns. The hotel was advertised as 4-star, but immediately upon arrival it did not feel 4-star. The appearance of the lobby was 3-star at best and there was an unpleasant smell. The room was very small with barely enough room for 2 full sized beds and smelled of cigarette smoke. The sliding barn style bathroom door drug on the floor when pulled and didn't close all the way. The clothes wardrobe and desk were clearly of particle board and well-worn on the edges. The refrigerator was warm. The room felt a little "rough" - not what you'd expect for 4 stars. We were on the second floor and could feel the subway running underground. On a positive note, the shower pressure was good, the room seemed reasonably clean, and the beds were comfortable. Management offered to refund our money if we wanted to check out, but there weren't any other 4-star hotels in the area with availability, so we stayed. Of note, on departure there was another guest arriving who was also disappointed by the property and was promptly leaving for the nearby Marriott.

The staff was nice enough but the water & ice on our floor and in Libby not working, chair in room was worn out & cracked, tile was so dirty, missing parts of the baseboard around the room, it smelled like sweat…just over all kinda of gross. I understand dated places, but dirty and smelly is unacceptable. The staff credited me the destination fee of $25 for my feedback…really?!?!

Decent room. They just need to do better at cleaning. Random smudges and stains on walls. Hair in the shower. Customer service was great though. Very nice at the front desk.

The room was small but clean and the bed was very comfortable.

The hotel is close to where we’d like to go and reasonably priced for the holiday time. However, our first room was not in working condition. The sink draining was very slow. What makes us have to move in late night was that the heating system wasn’t working and night was getting colder. Our second room doesn’t have the two problems but later we realized that the subway was probably right beneath us as now and then we felt the rumblings of the trains pulling into the station. We were too tired to request another move.

Great location (very walkable), and the staff was pleasant and helpful. However, the room had a strange layout and not much space. The weirdest part was the orientation of the bathroom. It had a sliding barn door, which was literally two feet (if that) from the edge of the bed. I included a picture - you can see from sitting on the bed, you could reach out and touch the bathroom door. Seemed a strange choice to put the bathroom entrance so close to the bed, especially with more than one person in the room. There was space in the front of the room with an exercise area, but it felt like that could have been better used to have the bathroom door on that side. Especially since there was a large and well-equipped gym on the ground floor.

Very nice and comfortable place near tons of Subway lines. Very pleasant and convenient. One issue we had was spotty WiFi.

The property is well located and clean, staff was nice. Room was very small and had a damaged fold down desk that we couldn’t put back up. Totally fine for a quick stay but some of the aesthetics were a little tacky.

Downtown BK location is great. These are small rooms. The brand thing is wellness - so you get a yoga mat and a pole with resistance bands.

Not ideal for families coming from long distance, subway / metro sound is so annoying. Perfect location in brooklyn

The rooms were absolutely too small as the pictures didn't reflect that. Also the ac filter needed to be changed as i noticed particles in the air. Poor.

Really upset with the destination fees. Being charged twenty eight dollars a night without the choice to say no is ridiculous. I enjoyed this hotel actually, it was a great experience, but I stay in nyc often and to be told I am forced to pay a fee that covers entry to the workout center and access to city bikes.. its ridiculous.

A warning on charges: you will be billed $US24 every time your room is made up - this includes any request of new towels without any services to room. The hotel also withheld my security deposit though I left the room cleared. I have never had such an issue before. I am not an untidy person. In terms of proximity to Manhattan or other parts of Brooklyn, the hotel is well located. There are multiple subway lines nearby. The rooms are comfortable and clean. If not for weird charges, I’d easily rate this 5/5. Adding the random costs, you’d be better off staying somewhere else.

Location was good for our activities planned. We had a man knock at our door and earlier he was walking by our door all creepy. Where our room door was , there’s no reason anyone would go that way other than who is staying in our room. We had to call the front desk, they sent security very quickly and security handled the man swiftly

Our stay at the EVEN Hotel Brooklyn was great. The front desk staff in particular is terrific. We had a problem with the heat on our first night and they were responsive, helpful, and got the issue resolved. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hotel is very conveniently located to amenities and the subway. We will stay here again!

This hotel did not honor the Hotels.com price that I agreed to. They overcharged and said the Hotels.com price doesn't reflect their pricing. The staff gave me a business card and said I could email the manager. I sent an email to the manager Rogel Zapata on 8/3 and have heard nothing back. I can't figure out how to contact Hotels.com about this either. I feel like I was ripped off. Shame on EVEN hotel. I'd recommend staying elsewhere if at all possible.

The hotel is centrally located in downtown Brooklyn, just steps away from shops and restaurants and close to subways. I appreciated being able to walk around without needing to use Uber or Lyft. It’s also conveniently close to the subways, making it a prime location. On top of that, the hotel staff were excellent—friendly and helpful throughout my stay.

This was the first time staying at this hotel. It was a great location. You could walk to food as well as several subway stations. I would stay here again.

It is really a good location for getting on transit subway to manhattan. Located near restaurants, Whole Foods, etc. The nightly rate was very reasonable.

For a visit to Brooklyn, this hotel was very well located. Just steps from a couple of different subway stops, very close to Barclay Center and Atlantic Station. Also on a smaller side street for easy Uber pickup. We were not happy with the first room assigned to us, but the front desk staff was very accommodating. The rooms are a bit smaller than we are accustomed to, and the front door was hard to spot. Down to basics - we slept well and were close to Williamsburg and Fort Green neighborhoods.

The location of this hotel was excellent and a short walk to Barclay's.

The location was great (near multiple subways), the room is clean and the reception staff are helpful.

Hotel was well priced and convenient. Lobby is a little deserted after breakfast service. I ordered the avocado toast for about $20 and it was subpar. Room was clean and efficient.

The hotel was clean and the staff was pretty helpful. The location is close to subway stops. There are lots of restaurants around the area which made it convenient to find something to eat. My only complaint is that the breakfast service was extremely slow (45 mins to get my breakfast each morning) There were only 2 staff members serving and cooking; clearly need more staff.

I had fairly average expectations for this hotel - I was in town on a work trip and looking for a clean, comfortable mid-tier place to crash. Sadly, EVEN did not meet my “on par” bar. While there were redeeming features - the staff was without a doubt professional, prompt, and helpful and the rooms were equipped with handy modern amenities like yoga mats and built-in bedside phone charging ports - they were not enough to offset more obvious flaws like bugs in the bed (I did confirm the tiny flying creatures were not bedbugs), broken water and ice dispensers, a lacking self-service “shop” for coffee in the morning, and a steeply overpriced and subpar breakfast. Equally irritating was locking in what felt like a reasonably rate via Expedia only to be told upon checking in that I’d need to pay an additional non-refundable $87 for amenities I never needed or agreed to (the specifically cited Peloton bikes). This felt blatantly deceitful and manipulative towards budget-minded shoppers on third-party sites they were targeting. Certainly not the worst of all places, but buyers beware, you may be disappointed.

Clean, friendly staff, good breakfast and walkable to Barclays.

The hotel was over all clean and nice but room service never replace the tea for the keurig. We ran out of toilet paper and had asked for more but in my experience we should not have had to ask and it should've had enough in the room. Also had to ask for towels multiple time cuz they're kept taking them all and only give us 2 when we needed more. That isn't a super big deal but was a bit annoying. The water they had at the front also kept running out. We the include breakfast is $25 extra per day and we didnt get the slips they use for the breakfasts till after our 2nd day after breakfasts was over. Also the breakfasts isn't great just felt over charged but the staff was super nice and helpful with everything we needed when we asked.

Front desk customer service was excellent. We wanted to order food and the bar/server acted like she didn’t want to be bothered to wait on us and gave us a map of local eatiers instead.

Room was comfortable. Very powerful AC, greatly welcomed in the summer heat. Breakfast was made to order and nice. Bed was hugh and comfortable.

I enjoyed my stay. Clean rooms, attentive staff and, delicous breakfast options!

The EVEN was surprisingly quiet, so that was nice. Bathroom door a little odd (on a slider and the handle was actually kind of sharp), and the in-room coffee maker was broken, but because of that they gave us free coffee in the cafeteria off of the lobby, and even more appreciated, removed the occupancy tax from our bill. Would definitely recommend as a solid place to stay, especially if you just need a good place to sleep (as opposed to hanging out in the room for any length of time—it is pretty small).
