Southey House

I stayed at Southey House for two nights and it was a very nice stay. The room was clean and spacious and had a refrigerator and water, coffee and tea. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good with eggs, bacon, oats, yogurt, fresh fruit, and more. The bed was very comfortable and had a nice and varm duvet. The room however was a bit cold the whole time (in beginning of July), so when staying in the room it was best to stay in bed. The guesthouse is located in a safe and there is a terrace so you can enjoy sitting outside in a sofa and enjoy the view.

In a lovely safe area. Beautiful guest house with the most fantastic view. Lovely staff, great breakfast. Easy access to main roads shops and restaurants. Our room was clean and spacious. Will be back next time we visit South Africa.

Staying at Southey House was a superb experience! My hosts were friendly & kind - always willing to assist. By chance, I met with the proprietor of this establishment - Like her staff, she was ultra friendly & inquired about my stay experience. I informed her that the parking was a bit tight for more than 3 vehicles - she however assured me that there are plans to expand. Southey House is located in a dead-ended street, leading to a security entrance of a nearby college - I guess this contributed to the reduced traffic & quietness. The view out of the Karoo Room was stunning & contributed to the atmosphere of serenity. My room was virtually a suite - sufficient for a couple to enjoy in comfort. The breakfast included a nice selection of the usual cereals, breads, spreads, yoghurt - the fruit salad, however varied daily: one day included guava, another day berries... it was these special touches, along with the staff's attitude towards client service, that will draw me back to Southey House on my next trip to the Pinetown area.
