Great location near the train station. Helpful, friendly staff. Room was small but very clean and everything worked. Room 11 had a large skylight instead of a window but didn’t seem claustrophobic to me. Continental breakfast was self-serve with plenty of good things to choose from. (Cooked breakfast was also and option but I didn’t have that). Despite being in a pub building it was quiet. The building is old but well maintained. Good value.

The photos on Hotels.com indicate a highly stylised designer look to the rooms and the hotel and it was not like that at all! This hotel was very basic and worn. Had to ask for soap for the room and later found an insect by the pillow. We couldn't use all the facilities as one of the rooms was being used for a private party. (We weren't told about this beforehand.) We were aware of live entertainment on the night but nothing prepared us for what we saw in the main lounge. The room cost over £219 and I wouldn't have paid £50 for it.

Easy to find. Simple check in. Free street parking available right outside hotel. Lovely room. Easy walking distance to shops, bars,restaurants, etc.

Hotel very tired. I was in a single room which felt very shoehorned in. There were no windows so felt a bit claustrophobic even though a bit of daylight came in from the skylight. The walls around the bed were lined with what looked like untreated wood. The cheap drawers were tatty and looked as if they had been for a while.The shower room was tiny with a tiny sink. There was a kettle but no teabags or coffee. The plus side was that it was clean and handy for the station. I felt that having paid £114 for the night it wasn't good value. Travelling as a single female I wasn't keen on having to go to the busy public bar to check in so I wouldn't recommend it for solo travellers.

The hotel was clean but looking dated and tired. The rate we paid was very high for the standard of room i.e. Friday/Saturday night. We had the smallest bathroom but it worked fine, the room itself was small with only one chair for two people. The cups were small and we requested mugs both for the room and at breakfast which were provided. The cushions on the bed smelled and also the blind to the window did not work properly and was difficult to operate. We found the staircase to the rooms was dark especially when entering the stairs from outside, it was difficult to see the stair treads to climb easily. A brighter light on the landing would have been very useful. On the plus side the place was clean as noted, the staff were friendly and very helpful, and the continental breakfast was fine and was included in the rate. If we wanted a cooked breakfast (which we didn't), this was extra.
