The hotel is beautiful located in a quieter neighborhood in Katmandu.Anish at the front desk and every employee at the hotel went above and beyond! The restaurant was delicious and the waiters were very accommodating! We enjoyed a wonderful massage at the spa! We definitely recommend this hotel!

Beautiful hotel in historic army barracks. Delightful rooms; incredibly helpful and friendly staff; good breakfasts; perfect courtyard restaurant with good food; lovely shops; and beautiful pool. Close to a park for good early morning runs - or to join an outdoor yoga class.

Staff were so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our experience there immensely!! Would highly recommend the Baber Mahal Vilas to anyone visiting Nepal. Top notch service, great restaurants and shops, and a very beautiful property!!

Nice boutique hotel outside the hustle and bustle of the central district. Easy to and from airport and private car can be arranged. Very courteous and pleasant staff. Especially high marks for Menuka at the front desk who was extremely helpful and accommodating. Several food options available within the property itself including a French restaurant and next door great coffee and lunch at Cafe Himalaya Rooms were wel appointed with balconies. Hotel is filled with many artificers and artwork from the Maharaja era. Very cool. Room rates were also quite reasonable and daily breakfast was included. Also, had drinks at the K2 lounge, which were well crafted.

All the staff were welcoming and informative, the breakfast was excellent and the staff there were great as well. It has a sauna and a pool which we utilized. It's a beautiful place tucked away from the traffic and noise of Kathmandu.

Extremely welcoming staff meeting you with big smiles on arrival. The staff is really determined to make your stay the best 24/7. Be aware that the (young) reception/concierge staff do not always speak a clear English, so you may need to ask more times to get the full understanding of their explanations. The location of the hotel is great - close to main shopping areas, but still in a quiet residential area, with a hospital/pharmacy next door, and an integrated cosy complex with a lot of small handicraft boutiques and not less than four different restaurants that can all keep you busy for days - besides a small pool, library, fitness room and a nice spa. All in all a very good choice if you stay in Kathmandu for more days in a row

A charming hotel with charming staff. Lots of dark wood and glass chandeliers, beautifully decorated and very comfortable rooms, all in excellent condition. Part of a complex with restaurants and shops, so plenty of choice. Friendly and helpful staff completes a memorable stay. Convenient location too.

This property was truly wonderful. We stayed there twice and loved it! The rooms were charming and they fit a lot into this hotel - even a pool and gym. Chez Caroline is attached - amazing French food, and they have a restaurant with authentic Nepalese Thali food and entertainment. They helped us with transportation, and everyone was always friendly and helpful. LOVED it. There are also a few stores attached, including cute gift shops, clothing shops, and a place for mani/pedis. We just loved our stay there and highly recommend it.

The staff were great and welcoming. The facilities were well cared for. The atmosphere was special. Recommend. There will be construction for the next year or so. However, it wasn't really an issue because the early morning and evenings were quiet.

This was the loveliest hotel! The staff are so kind and attentive. The facilities are in great condition and so convenient. The rooms are beautiful with so much history and personality. The overall building is so beautiful and features really unique architecture. I cannot recommend this hotel enough! Some friends of mine visiting Kathmandu at the same time stayed at other hotels (Soaltee and Aloft) and while both had their merits, our hotel outshined theirs by leaps and bounds. The surrounding shopping area is so cute and convenient and has gorgeous artisan goods like books with nepalese paper, cashmere scarves and pashminas, and more. The nearby restaurants are tasty and affordable, and the hotel breakfast is delicious.

I am a frequent traveller and I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were fantastic, the hotel is beautiful, characterful and spotlessly clean. It’s a bit of a warren which adds to the period feel. I really hope I have the opportunity to return soon and if you are travelling to Kathmandu I have no reservation in recommending this hotel.

Staying at the Baber Mahal hotel was one of the most memorable stays ever. The list of the good things about staying here is endless. From the ambiance, the nicest staff, the food and drinks, the comfort, cleanliness to the history of the place..... everything was remarkable. The location was great too. A very safe and secure Villa with fabulous eateries, a salon, shopping etc.
Staying at the Baber Mahal hotel was one of the most memorable stays ever. The list of the good things about staying here is endless. From the ambiance, the nicest staff, the food and drinks, the comfort, cleanliness to the history of the place..... everything was remarkable. The location was great too. The royalty at its best. This place is so beautiful. The architecture the decoration, the designs, the stories that every area told you. Its a storybook setting for travelers. The room was so beautifully designed, patio had so much seating space. Restaurants had such great tasting food. The folk dance dinner event was mindblowing. We had a great time. Staff was so hepful in arranging our spa tratment and outdoor activities including money exchange. Very friendly and helpful. My stay was for 3 days and there was always some fun event going on. The art gallery to shopping at babar mahal is definitely a must. Lots of beautiful photo moments. I definitely would go again.

Beautiful heritage property with lots of interesting quirks and fab decor. Loved that we had several dining options. Local craft markets within the grounds of the hotel was such a bonus. Staff were attentive though on one occasion one or two at reception could have done better. Overall very enjoyable stay and wish we could have experienced it for more than one night. Definitely recommend.

I am a frequent traveller and I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were fantastic, the hotel is beautiful, characterful and spotlessly clean. It’s a bit of a warren which adds to the period feel. I really hope I have the opportunity to return soon and if you are travelling to Kathmandu I have no reservation in recommending this hotel.

Especially high marks for Menuka at the front desk who was extremely helpful and accommodating. Several food options available within the property itself including a French restaurant and next door great coffee and lunch at Cafe Himalaya Rooms were wel appointed with balconies. Hotel is filled with many artificers and artwork from the Maharaja era. Very cool. Room rates were also quite reasonable and daily breakfast was included. Also, had drinks at the K2 lounge, which were well crafted.

Extremely welcoming staff meeting you with big smiles on arrival. The staff is really determined to make your stay the best 24/7. Be aware that the (young) reception/concierge staff do not always speak a clear English, so you may need to ask more times to get the full understanding of their explanations. The location of the hotel is great - close to main shopping areas, but still in a quiet residential area, with a hospital/pharmacy next door, and an integrated cosy complex with a lot of small handicraft boutiques and not less than four different restaurants that can all keep you busy for days - besides a small pool, library, fitness room and a nice spa. All in all a very good choice if you stay in Kathmandu for more days in a row

This property was truly wonderful. We stayed there twice and loved it! The rooms were charming and they fit a lot into this hotel - even a pool and gym. Chez Caroline is attached - amazing French food, and they have a restaurant with authentic Nepalese Thali food and entertainment. They helped us with transportation, and everyone was always friendly and helpful. LOVED it. There are also a few stores attached, including cute gift shops, clothing shops, and a place for mani/pedis. We just loved our stay there and highly recommend it.

I had a very good stay at Baber Mahal Vilas. The hotel is safe and is centrally located in Kathmandu. The staff are very kind and helpful. The facility has very good restaurants. Getting around is straightforward and taxis are relatively cheap. I expect I will stay there again when I plan to visit Kathmandu in the spring of 2025.

The hotel had its charm and it was pleasant being there but it wasn’t close to anything and the area isn’t clean, sidewalks are broken up and the traffic was nerve racking. The staff were very helpful and breakfasts were very good.

A charming hotel with charming staff. Lots of dark wood and glass chandeliers, beautifully decorated and very comfortable rooms, all in excellent condition. Part of a complex with restaurants and shops, so plenty of choice. Friendly and helpful staff completes a memorable stay. Convenient location too.

The Baber Mahal Vilas is in a quiet neighborhood away from downtown. There isn’t much in the immediate area, but the restaurants in the attached shopping mall are all pretty good. We had massages, which were very good - just be sure to check that you get the time you paid for. We were shorted about 20 minutes, and the hotel management resolved the issue to our satisfaction.

For example, when I asked about an upgrade, they quickly upgraded my room to one of their “modern” rooms. Once I moved into this superb room my satisfaction was guaranteed. The included breakfast was small but very adequate with fresh juice, fruits, and many other local as well as western dishes. I really loved the coffee.

If you want an authentic Nepalese place this is the place to stay. My sister and I had the villa which was amazing with our very own balcony and courtyard which no one visited. Breakfast was wonderful, there are quite a few restaurants and the food was superb in all of them. There was a quaint little bar, outside areas with heaters if needed. The Nepalese people are generally the nicest people, always helpful and friendly. Their English was great so that certainly makes it easier. Tick of approval.
If you want an authentic Nepalese place this is the place to stay. My sister and I had the villa which was amazing with our very own balcony and courtyard which no one visited. Breakfast was wonderful, there are quite a few restaurants and the food was superb in all of them. There was a quaint little bar, outside areas with heaters if needed. The Nepalese people are generally the nicest people, always helpful and friendly. Their English was great so that certainly makes it easier. Tick of approval.
