The LINE Hotel DC

Property and staff welcoming and clean. Hotel charges a high resort fee and no real amenities to justify additional $28 per day. There are cheap slippers in the room and use of an umbrella if it rains. I carry both my own umbrella and slippers when I travel. This is likely a reason I may not stay there again.

I really wanted to like this hotel but it was mediocre at best, thanks to some unforced errors on the hotel's part. For starters, the check in desk is very difficult to find! There are no signs from the main entrance and it's on another floor. I had to ask several people for assistance. Secondly, there's a $30 resort fee that cannot be waived and covers things that most hotels offer free, like internet and a gym. Third, the elevators don't give an audible indicator that they have arrived, which means people often wait and call the elevator multiple times even when it is there. Likewise, there are two floor-selector panels per elevator but only one key card reader and no signs explaining that the key is required. So it's very common to wonder why the elevator isn't working. Signage costs next to nothing and would greatly enhance the user experience.

No room in mini refrigerator to store our own food or beverages. Disliked display of over priced snacks/drinks. Dislike additional charge each night for gym, which we did not plan to use.

An 'amenity fee' of $27 $3 tax per day is charged at check-out time.

Staff were very kind and helpful. Parking was not including in price of room and an expensive extra cost to trip. We were only told that parking was available but not at the price of the $55.00/night surcharge.

This property is a gem! Very clean well appointed room. Very impressed with the amenities. Hello fully equipped gym! Definitely will stay here on my next stay.

Beautiful building, really nice bar and lounge area. The room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. Check in was easy and the gym was well equipped.

Manager was incredibly kind. Hotel was nice, clean with some solid amenities (especially the hotel gym). Will be back when in DC.

Wonderful interior . Did not like check-in area. It's on the side street and doesn't design wise mesh with the rooms interiors . It's dark and the furniture just looks thrown together. I actually thought I booked the wrong hotel when we pulled in because the front of the hotel is so exceptional . The check in's furniture just looks thrown together.On a positive the lady who checked us in was lovely and the bar staff were great as were the restaurant staff. I highly recommend the old fashion ! The rooms are well designed and we had a great view of the monument.

Very average. A bit rundown. Restaurant and bar shut down on arrival with little offer for major inconvenience. Dead roaches on hallway. Basement entrance smelled like mold sewer spill. Very dark common areas and elevator. Felt safe but isolated from front desk or amenities. Can’t reach safe. 6’ tall TV off center and not available from anywhere but left side of bed. Crazy setup.

AC didn't work in the room, it was dirty when we got in. Staff was not particularly helpful, lost some of our items. Pretty bad all around (beautiful property though).

One of the light bulbs in the room flickers (this has happened in other rooms during different stays). A knob is missing from a desk drawer so you can't open the drawer. Food from a previous guest was left by the front door for more than one day.

Hotel was very dark and not very clean

Low sink water pressure, food found under bed. Had to continually ask for 4 wash clothes ( knowledge of 4 people staying in room) lobby dark with no personality. Staff pleasant.

Very funky, fun vibe. Comfortable room. The food ordered from the restaurant was very good, and so was the service: quick, polite, great housekeeping, etc. A few things in my room were dusty. I’m not sure if that’s because the building is older, and so the cleaning team is fighting the dust a lot more, or if the cleaning needs a bit more thoroughness! But all in all: I would come back. It was quiet and restful.

Room wasn’t very nice, the bathroom flooded everytime we took a shower since there was nothing but a shower curtain that was a foot off the floor. Not super clean either.

My room was along the back of the hotel, away from Columbia Ave. The music from the nightclub next to the hotel was EXTREMELY LOUD and lasted until 3AM on Friday and Saturday nights. It was impossible to sleep; I really can’t recommend staying here on a weekend night due to the sonic assault. This really needs to be addressed, or at least a warning to guests about the noise. It’s a nice hotel, and a very pretty building, but it could benefit from some minor updates/refresh to justify the rates being charged.

The room was clean. The bar staff was great. The room was so loud at night from the club that I couldn't sleep till well after 3am. We also had no hot water. When we tried calling the front desk no one would answer. For a supposedly high end hotel it was just average at best. Had I have known about the noise or hot water I would have considered booking elsewhere.

OUR ROOM WAS LOCATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE HOTEL AND THAT EVENING THE MUSIC AND NOISE WENT ON TILL 2 AM. UNFORTUNATELY, THE NOISE JUST PENETRATED THE BUILDING WALLS AND WE COULD NOT GET TO SLEEP.

It was more the restroom water got everywhere. Shower is not sealed properly. Didn’t sleep well on mattress

The property was not able to accommodate a linen change to hypoallergenic linens even after multiple conversations, all that was given was fresh pillows and two blankets. The shower in the room also had little to no water pressure and took a long time to heat up.

The hotel rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable. The noise from the nightclub on the west side was so loud be switched rooms during the night. The lobby and gym are dark and need some updating. Also check your room rates before travel if you booked a while ago. We basically paid twice the rate being offered this weekend as we booked our rooms a few months ago to attend a wedding. . Despite paying this rate for 3 rooms the hotel wanted to bill another $25 per room to check out an hour late ( and they were not full). So overall a good place for $200 a night but way overpriced for $400 a night

wonderful service

Very unfriendly front desk staff. They acted like they were annoyed checking you in. When asked questions about restaurants or hair salons they refused to give any referrals. The check in process was very uncomfortable

I have stayed here many times and always have enjoyed wonderful guest services. But this time--I'm sad to say--staff did not live up to their usual excellence. Hopefully, they get back to their stellar service. Fingers crossed.

I have spoken to the guest services team at the Line; but I had a horrific experience checking in to the hotel. After little to no effort in locating my reservation, two folks at the check-in desk tried to tell me that they did not have a reservation for me (despite me sharing the hotels.com receipt). They then rudely told me I needed to leave, call you all and figure it out on my own. In addition to being 8 and a half months pregnant, it was also extremely callous and rude. Then, as I asked the woman (manager?) standing there if she could help me in speaking to hotels.com/expedia, she rudely told me that is not her job. and that she was not going to speak to me about this - she was in listening mode. As I went to turn around and figure out what I was going to do (Every hotel room in DC was sold out that night, I was panicking)- suddenly the man actually handling the check in said - I found your reservation. And all the "manager" had to say was- "oh, that's nice." It was the strangest, most uncomfortable experience I've ever had. I was so upset - near tears - and several folks in the lobby who overhead the exchange encouraged me to reach out and complain/share my experience. I will never stay at the Line again. To make matters worse- it now looks like I was charged by both Hotels.com AND the hotel.. and the charge is exceedingly different (by the tune of about 200 dollars) and so I now know how significantly overcharged I was by booking through hotels.com.

Hip area. Service can't be beat! Staff went above and beyond helping retrieve an item left in the room after checkout.

Horrible service from the front desk, the agent couldn’t figure out how to allow me to pay my room charge. I was charged $59 dollars for a $28 dollar breakfast, and my room didn’t even have a pen to order breakfast. It’s time to make some staffing choices consistent with quality and not quantity.

I wanted to heat up some soup and was told they would bring a microwave up. It took over 2hrs to get my microwave. I had to call and inquire about when they would bring it up 4 different times. I had to leave and put the do not disturb sign on my door and they still entered into my room.

Everything went very smoothly from check in to check out.. Front desk was very courteous and helpful.. Room was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed.. A very nice experience.

Fun and lively area. 15 minutes from Union Train Station and close enough to main tourist attractions.

The Line is in a great and centrally located location. It's pretty walkable to all DC neighborhoods and has great proximity to Rock Creek Park where you can enjoy a hike or even use it to walk to Georgetown. Coffee shop in lobby was convenient and quality. Room sizes were generous as well as bathroom amenities. Would definitely stay here again.

Great stay, this is a lovely boutique hotel. The lobby area is more dark than it needs to be, but the room was clean, comfortable, minimalistic design. Basic amenities. Location is great, walkable neighborhood, great local restaurants on 18th street. The hotel restaurant, bar and coffee shop are great! Food, drinks and service were very good. I would stay here again

Loved our stay! The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were clean and really cutely decorated. If you like a good espresso martini, try their lady finger down at the bar… incredible.

2 -3 hr delay on check in “because they were full the night before “ no Kleenex/1 coffee cup/ limited nespesso supplies- asked for all The lobby restaurant offerings all closed at 4:00 on Sunday and left us to search out dinner without a reservation- ughhhh

The Line is a little worse for the wear, serviceable but no longer the happening place. No full service for breakfast any longer, just a coffee bar with limited menu.

Loved this place. Spent 4 days here for business travel. Staff are lovely, in a great neighborhood, the onsite restaurant/bar is awesome and it’s modern and fun. Will definitely stay again!

The Line has a beautiful aesthetic. The dining area, bar and lounge was comfortable and welcoming. The bartenders had a wealth of knowledge about the local area. They made a few recommendations for restaurants in the area and the ones we tried were amazing.

Historical and partially renovated hotel is a decent place to stay when visiting Adams Morgan area. It is very short distance to many restaurants and stores. Room was clean, relatively spacious and WiFi worked well. I was a bit disappointed by the quality of breakfast and restaurant (it seems frying oil has not been replaced for a while). Overall it was very enjoyable stay.

The breakfast was amazing--had a couple of different options and the food was the best I have had. I had 4 breakfasts and one dinner and it was nice to east so well!
