Santa Elena Lodge

The lodge was nice with nice restaurant adjacent, good food. Quiet town with few extras but several DYI beach and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Mycket trevligt, familjärt boende med trevlig personal. Bra restaurang vägg i vägg och knappa 100 m till en liten supermercado. Ett flertal kanonfina stränder inom några kilometers radie, och ingen trängsel alls trots att de är så fina, på en av dem var vi helt ensamma. I byn Cuajiniquil, en knapp kilometer därifrån finns flera autentiska barer med en enklare meny men även fullskaliga restauranger med mycket god mat. Vi var de enda gringosarna i byn den dagen/kvällen vi var där. Kan varmt rekommendera detta boende.

My husband and I stayed at Santa Elena Lodge for 3 nights while visiting Cuajiniquil for birding and natural history. We were told the lodge was constructed from reclaimed wood and built by the family who still run it today. It is quite a stunning structure. The gardens are lovely. The food was probably the best we had on a 9 day trip to some natural areas of Costa Rica - generous portions at every meal and good coffee There are many natural areas to visit to see birds and other wildlife and there is a reference guide in each room expaining in detail where to find these areas. Owners and staff were also very knowledgeable. This area and the lodge is authentic and undisturbed by the excessive tourism of some other areas. The staff at the lodge are very, very friendly, rooms very clean. I recommend this lodge and area for true nature lovers.

Lovely place, a beautiful older Costa Rican style wooden building. Rooms are not very spacious, but there are common spaces to enjoy. Good local food, and the staff are all very kind and helpful. Great region to explore.

What a slice of paradise! Rooms, staff, hotel facilities were fantastic and run by a Costa Rican familyas described and pictured. Excellent if you’d like an out-of-the-way place from the crowds, this area is absolutely perfect.
