Stayed at The Cat and Custard Pot for one night, to enable us to get to the Badminton Horse Trials without having to endure the horrendous queues driving up on a Saturday morning! Such a good decision - it was easy to find with a large car park, pretty outside area to have a drink in the sunshine, we had a delicious evening meal with excellent service, our room (Home Guard) was spotlessly clean, had a really comfy bed, great en-suite, coffee/tea machine and bottles of water. Didn’t need breakfast as we checked out early to get to Badminton before the queues! It was the perfect start to our weekend and we would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

A very pleasant stay in a quiet village. Bed was comfortable, huge bathroom, easy parking behind the inn. Had an evening meal which was excellent and the traditional English breakfast was first rate. Would stay again if we were in the area.

A traditional village pub, full of character. We stayed for 2 nights, the room was light and very comfortable. Everything was very clean. Free internet access was included. It was lovely to have the choice of 2 dining locations, the main restaurant offered a varied menu and delivered excellent food. The Pizzas at the Chalet were lovely and we had a very enjoyable evening of live music on the Sunday night. The staff were really friendly. Good choice for breakfast. It was a good base to explore the area.We would definately return.

This is a great pub, in a lovely location. Rooms are delightful and the manager/staff helpful and approachable without being overbearing. We dined in the chalet in the evening and the pizzas were marvellous, as was the wine. The breakfast was also fantastic. This was our second visit and we are already planning another!

Really enjoyed our stay in the Cat & Custard. Quiet and plenty of parking. Room was spacious but a tad hot. Thank goodness for the fan. Food was exceptional and tasteful. Alcoholic beverages were extensive and staff were helpful and friendly. Nothing was too trouble. Sam, who served us most of the evening was polite and humorous. A great assist to the premises. Would definitely recommend

Cute place. Nice staff. We actually tried to walk to Westonbirt Arboretum and this mom & daughter picked up us when they said us walking in the rain even though they were going to the opposite way. The daughter, Francesca, happened to work at The Cat & Custard Pot Inn! Just shows she’s also kind outside of work. Then Gemma in the restaurant served us d was very pleasant. She recommended the Parma with Burrata pizza which was really delicious.

Super charming spot in the tiny village of Shipton Moyne. Friendly staff. Excellent meal and breakfast. Clean and modernized room with nice sheets and comfy bed. Great little pub. Super close to the Arboretum if you are coming for a show. My only complaint: no cats were to be found 😀 Highly recommended.

The room was small but ok but it was very hot even though we had a portable fan. We couldn't have windows open as we had the kitchen extractor fan nxt to our window which was also smelly & noisy. We were in Guard Room. We like dogs but there were such a lot in the rooms & restaurant it felt unhygienic. Although the place is a dog friendly accommodation, it was more like Planet of the Dogs. Don't think they should be allowed to be on the chairs & tables.

Received a very warm welcome upon our arrival ,staff food and service excellent at all times . The first room we were offered had very small shower room ,the room we then stayed in had a much better bathroom , my only comment would be, bathroom could do with a bit of TLC . But overall a great little find ,in a very quiet and pretty village , would use again .

After coming for a delicious Sunday lunch last year we knew we wanted to come back again for a relaxing night away without our kids. The Cat and Custard Pot is a charming historic venue in a pretty little village with lots of character. The roast beef was excellent and it was lovely to chill for the rest of the evening in the pub. Our room was light, clean and nicely furnished and we had a peaceful night, followed by a tasty breakfast the next morning. Overall good value for a relaxing night away in the countryside, we'll be back again.

What a great stay. From the moment we walked in the door we were made welcome. Our room was comfortable, beautifully decorated and spotless. Dinner was delicious and reasonable with nothing too much trouble and breakfast was the same. We are planning on coming back with friends as one night in such a pretty area just wasn’t enough.

We had a very pleasant overnight stay and meal there and the staff were friendly. The room was quite small, the bathroom even more so. The stair carpet to the rooms badly needs replacing. A better range of vegetarian food for dinner is needed and the brulee dessert was tasty but rather small for the price. Breakfast was good but perhaps an offer of more tea and coffee would be a good idea.

We had a lovely stay, plenty of parking, rooms were clean and comfortable. All of the staff team were friendly and helpful. The person who checked us in reserved a table so that we could eat in the restaurant, the food was good quality with options from local suppliers.

Staff were very friendly and helpful from check in to check out. Food in the restaurant and breakfast was excellent and reasonably priced. Our room was spacious with a large en-suite bathroom which was very clean. Perfect location for visiting Highgrove House. Would definitely return.

On the app the pictures shown for our room (Elmleaze) a picture of a bath and other pictures definitely not taken in this room. The shower cubicle screen door opens directly into the main room area so that anyone else in the room could see you having a shower! Your towel and clothes also had to be outside the cubicle. No privacy at all. Also no wardrobe, just a few clothes hangers on a hook at the back of the door. Not very convenient. We would have liked to check out pretty early but there was nobody around till 8 o’clock when chef and one staff arrived. Didn’t appear that any staff stay on property overnight? What happens in any emergency?

Our room was beautiful, with a massive bathroom and roll top bath, however…. For our 2 night stay we had no heating. Luckily it wasn’t too cold in February, but would have been nicer if the room was a bit warmer for me. Breakfast was outstanding and the chef knocked up a proper English breakfast. One older lady who served us breakfast one morning was a little highly strung / panic mode and was more worried about bookings. Which left us all a bit tense after breakfast, but the next day a young man served us and he was relaxed and calm, which made for a lovely breakfast. I would definitely stay again, great bar staff. We went for a wedding nearby and booking staff helped us get taxis and were so super helpful and friendly.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room clean and spacious. Unfortunately our room was close to the kitchen extractor fan, it went off at around 10.00pm the first night of our stay however was on all night the following evening.

To be honest the rating is solely down to the lovely way the staff handled the check in and evening meal. The room itself would be a 2 star. I was in the roof, the stair case leading to was steep, the room door small and oddly shaped, the access to the bathroom was through a tiny weird shaped door, photo below. I sustained a brain injury a few years ago, so navigating to odd space was a challenge. There should be a disclosure about this room.

On the app the pictures shown for our room (Elmleaze) a picture of a bath and other pictures definitely not taken in this room. The shower cubicle screen door opens directly into the main room area so that anyone else in the room could see you having a shower! Your towel and clothes also had to be outside the cubicle. Our room was beautiful, with a massive bathroom and roll top bath, however…. For our 2 night stay we had no heating. Luckily it wasn’t too cold in February, but would have been nicer if the room was a bit warmer for me. Breakfast was outstanding and the chef knocked up a proper English breakfast. One older lady who served us breakfast one morning was a little highly strung / panic mode and was more worried about bookings. Which left us all a bit tense after breakfast, but the next day a young man served us and he was relaxed and calm, which made for a lovely breakfast. I would definitely stay again, great bar staff. We went for a wedding nearby and booking staff helped us get taxis and were so super helpful and friendly.

Really enjoyed our stay in the Cat & Custard. Quiet and plenty of parking. Room was spacious but a tad hot. Thank goodness for the fan. Food was exceptional and tasteful. Alcoholic beverages were extensive and staff were helpful and friendly. Nothing was too trouble. Sam, who served us most of the evening was polite and humorous. A great assist to the premises. Stayed at The Cat and Custard Pot for one night, to enable us to get to the Badminton Horse Trials without having to endure the horrendous queues driving up on a Saturday morning! Such a good decision - it was easy to find with a large car park, pretty outside area to have a drink in the sunshine, we had a delicious evening meal with excellent service, our room (Home Guard) was spotlessly clean, had a really comfy bed, great en-suite, coffee/tea machine and bottles of water. Didn’t need breakfast as we checked out early to get to Badminton before the queues! It was the perfect start to our weekend and we would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

It was lovely to have the choice of 2 dining locations, the main restaurant offered a varied menu and delivered excellent food. The Pizzas at the Chalet were lovely and we had a very enjoyable evening of live music on the Sunday night. The staff were really friendly. Good choice for breakfast. This is a great pub, in a lovely location. Rooms are delightful and the manager/staff helpful and approachable without being overbearing. We dined in the chalet in the evening and the pizzas were marvellous, as was the wine. The breakfast was also fantastic. This was our second visit and we are already planning another!

We dined in restaurant the food was excellent hubby had ribeye steak and I tried the belly pork with crushed potatoes leeks and apple sauce and cider which was the most delightful plate of food I’ve had in a long time the staff were very helpful and the breakfast very good would definitely recommend this establishment you will not be disappointed

We both really enjoyed our stay. The room was bright and airy , lovely colours. Bedroom and Bathroom fabulously clean, comfortable bed, lovely to have a bath with lots of hot water. Restaurant staff and food , welcoming , tasty local food and very helpful friendly staff. The location was great , beautiful village, much to do in the area and good transport links. It’s a special gem. We would definitely go back.
