Hampton Inn & Suites Sandusky/Milan

AC worked real well. Except for mold on edges of walls & ceiling in bathroom and paint overspray on windows. Rome was clean. Desk chair was a accident waiting to happen. Breakfast was good. Everything was hot and kept filled.

The pool was freezing cold, and the bottom was dirty/sandy. The hot tub was out of order, which was disappointing. The doors in the pool area are rusty, and the paint is severely chipped. The chairs in the breakfast area and the lobby are disgusting. The material is all ripped, making it seem like nobody cares about the hotel's aesthetics. Our main issue was on the first morning of our stay. I had gone down to look at what was offered for breakfast while my daughter was asleep in the room. Immediately, my daughter messaged me, very upset. In the few minutes I had left her, a man had entered the room claiming he was from maintenance. There were no issues with our room, and how can a man just enter without notifying the guests first? I spoke with the front desk; she claimed there was an issue with a bathroom tile. I confirmed this was not the case. Instantly, I am told that maintenance was sent to the wrong room and they should have gone to 313 instead, as it was vacant. Back on the third floor, I soon found that 313 was not vacant, as a TV was blaring loudly. This was witnessed by two of the maids. I don't know what is going on at this hotel, but as I stated to the front desk clerk, their practice of sending maintenance into rooms without prior notification is something I most definitely consider a safety concern, especially for women traveling alone. This should be addressed immediately. Needless to say, we did not feel safe at this hotel, and I would never return.

The room was clean and well maintained, overall the visit and location were very nice. The only downside was the pool and hot tub could have been maintained a little more…. The hot tub was warm but the jets did not work the way they are intended to. Staff and the room were perfect though.

We had a really great stay! The only issue is that we called for housekeeping to restock our towels once and they never showed in the two nights we were there. The front desk staff was helpful in getting new towels, but they also indicated that housekeeping should have been by at least twice. It was more of an annoyance than anything but overall, it didn’t truly impact our stay too negatively.
