Hampton Inn & Suites Sandusky/Milan

Very nice stopover. Rooms were clean and staff was very helpful. They might want to update the chairs in the breakfast area.

Pull out bed had large, yellow stain. No other mattresses available for them to switch out. Son had to sleep on the floor- with linens provided by hotel staff. No mirror above the sink when getting ready- only full length body mirrors on the closet doors. Hot tub initially was "warming up" after a repair. Was subsequently closed the next day. Work out room had strong moldy smell and was not able to be used at all- could not be in the room for more than a few minutes. Breakfast area furniture needs to be replaced- chairs are extremely worn with upholstery not intact. Extremely disappointed with stay at this hotel.

We stayed here 7 months ago, and the place is still being remodeled in a strange manner. Old furniture sits next to new FF&E, drywall and fixtures in both our room and the breakfast area, some of it worn so badly it featured large holes in the fabric. In our room the mirror over the vanity has not yet been installed. We had to use the sliding closet doors that are mirrored. Our room seems to have been created out of two former rooms; one half of the new larger room was unfurnished except for an old couch along a blank wall. There was no art. The breakfast area sports a sign reading “Happy Breakfast,” yet the breakfast cook wished us no similar greeting, not even a smile. Her only answer to a question about condiments was “Nope.” Guests must walk about 100 feet away from the breakfast food to get coffee or hot tea; it’s only available in the lobby. Obviously we will not be staying at the Hampton Inn again. We will stay at the Holiday Inn Express down the road!

AC worked real well. Except for mold on edges of walls & ceiling in bathroom and paint overspray on windows. Rome was clean. Desk chair was a accident waiting to happen. Breakfast was good. Everything was hot and kept filled.

The pool was freezing cold, and the bottom was dirty/sandy. The hot tub was out of order, which was disappointing. The doors in the pool area are rusty, and the paint is severely chipped. The chairs in the breakfast area and the lobby are disgusting. The material is all ripped, making it seem like nobody cares about the hotel's aesthetics. Our main issue was on the first morning of our stay. I had gone down to look at what was offered for breakfast while my daughter was asleep in the room. Immediately, my daughter messaged me, very upset. In the few minutes I had left her, a man had entered the room claiming he was from maintenance. There were no issues with our room, and how can a man just enter without notifying the guests first? I spoke with the front desk; she claimed there was an issue with a bathroom tile. I confirmed this was not the case. Instantly, I am told that maintenance was sent to the wrong room and they should have gone to 313 instead, as it was vacant. Back on the third floor, I soon found that 313 was not vacant, as a TV was blaring loudly. This was witnessed by two of the maids. I don't know what is going on at this hotel, but as I stated to the front desk clerk, their practice of sending maintenance into rooms without prior notification is something I most definitely consider a safety concern, especially for women traveling alone. This should be addressed immediately. Needless to say, we did not feel safe at this hotel, and I would never return.
