Beautiful done renovations of the building! Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms are really nice( water could be a little hotter)! Courtyard and pool are a wonderful place to unwind from the day!

It was very hard checking in. There was no parking or place to park to unload and put your luggage. The front desk told us to put our luggage on the sidewalk, park across the street, then check in. There wasn’t any bellman to watch out luggage. Also, the elevator was broken so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs to our room. For the price you pay for the room they should have had help available until the elevator is repaired.

The hotel was beautiful but there was a wedding the night we stayed there. The bar and sitting areas were packed so we didn't get to enjoy them. We did eat at the restaurant and it was very good.

It's a lovely gem of a hotel that never disappoints when ever we stay there. For the price it's the best value out there for hotels on this level. The restaurant and bar is also lovely, with great food. It's in the center of Covington so you can walk everywhere. One one complaint is the off site gym, which was a bit down and out, compared to the hotel and you have to walk to another building behind the hotel.

What an absolute precious hotel. Staff was wonderful, parking was a little hard (only because of the Christmas event that was going on at the hotel. Rooms clean and comfortable and the restaurant and bar were very nice

We were in for one night. When we arrived the room was not ready. We waited 2 hours for a room. When we got in the room it smelled so bad of cigarette smoke and was very musty.

This hotel already has a later than average check in time (4pm), but the room was still not ready upon our arrival at 4:30. The desk clerk was rude and unhelpful and could not estimate how long the wait would be. He did not offer even an apology, a drink while we wait, a discount, truly nothing. When we did get into the room, around 6pm, the toilet had not been thoroughly cleaned (under the seat was dirty) and there was less than a half roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Overall for $275 a night, not even close to worth it.

This hotel already has a later than average check in time (4pm), but the room was still not ready upon our arrival at 4:30. The desk clerk was rude and unhelpful and could not estimate how long the wait would be. He did not offer even an apology, a drink while we wait, a discount, truly nothing. When we did get into the room, around 6pm, the toilet had not been thoroughly cleaned (under the seat was dirty) and there was less than a half roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Overall for $275 a night, not even close to worth it.

The rooms are absolutely not worth the money so you are paying for the location and convenience of walking around the area and back to your room. The sheets were so stiff and wrinkled it was very uncomfortable to sleep on. I held it up and placed it down on the bed and it stayed up just like I had been holding it. If I hold up my sheets at home and let go, they fall into a pile. Not these. It’s as if they were starched or something. The bed was very uncomfortable and broken, making clunking sounds with every movement. There is no mini fridge if you have leftovers and no coffee maker. They serve room service coffee and food starting at 7am but if you’re up before 7 and want coffee, you’re I guess going out for it or waiting. It was very musty and there were dehumidifiers in the hall way. The carpet in the hall was very stained.

Absolutely adorable little gem of a hotel! The rooms were beautiful and comfy! The grounds were beautiful and very true southern decor. I had a one night stay and got a great nights rest. Quiet, staff was kind and amenities are great.

The bed was comfortable and the bar staff was wonderful. We had no view, the bottom part of the window had a covering. The bathroom had zero storage or shelves and was tiny. No mini fridge or coffee maker. On checkout, the front desk required ID to get our receipt printed. I’ve never been asked for ID at any hotel on checkout. This caused another trip back to my car to get ID, which was inconvenient since the parking lot is no where near the front desk.

Everything was good, but the AC is a deal killer and why we could never stay here again no matter how nice it is. The AC vent blows directly in your face when you are in bed making it impossible to sleep with it on. So you have to turn it off and then it gets to warm to sleep.

The Southern hotel is my go to hotel in Covington. They have an amazing staff that is friendly and go above and beyond for you. Rooms are as comfortable as they are stylish- they make you feel pampered and at home. Always enjoy my stay at the Southern!

This place is amazing. Super cute and such sweet staff. The restaurant is amazing for all meals throughout the day and the bar is perfect to end the night. Will definitely be coming back!

This hotel had a loud wedding going on when we checked in. We had no idea that an event was going right in lobby area. It was extremely noisy. Then, we couldn't find anywhere to park because guests of the wedding were parked everywhere. The unfriendly staff at check in put us right in a room above the lobby area where the noise was. So rude. Finally, the restaurant. When we walked in to ask for a table, after standing there like dummies about 5 mins, a rude waitress said to us in a unpleasant tone, just a minute. Then, after another 5 mins, a friendly waitress finally took us to our table. The older waitress with long brown hair in a pony tail, kind of short, very rude to us for some reason. We won't stay there again and recommend anyone who is interested, ask if there is an event. If there is, maybe ask for a room AWAY from the lobby

I had a wonderful stay at the Southern Hotel in Covington. The atmosphere truly captures the charm of the real South, chic, stylish, and beautifully set. The staff was very accommodating and even provided me with an early check-in, which I greatly appreciated. Everything felt warm and welcoming. I’ll definitely be staying here again!

The hotel property was very well kept, and the staff was excellent. I had a small emergency when I realized I forgot my phone charger. Around 10 p.m., I called the front desk to see if they sold any. The friendly lady at the front desk informed me they didn't. But she kindly offered to lend me her personal charger instead. She mentioned she’d be working the night shift and asked me to return it once my phone was fully charged. Unfortunately, I accidentally fell asleep and woke up at 3 a.m. in a panic, worried she might think I didn’t intend to return it. I rushed it back down to the front desk — and to my relief, she wasn’t even upset. This small but meaningful act of kindness was just one of the many things that made my overnight stay memorable. Truly great service!

We stayed there for the Super Bowl. The hotel was in a nice quaint city about 45 minutes from New Orleans. There was plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The hotel was very pretty. We loved the old fashioned feel. It was very clean and decorated nicely. I would recommend.

Lovely hotel with a beautiful lobby that I wish I had more time to sit and read or relax in. The staff was nice and especially the girl working at the bar tried her best to accommodate me with food after the kitchen had closed at 7p.m. I would say the availability of food was a downside but I would stay here again and perhaps ask more questions about kitchen timing.

The inky negative thing I can say about this property is the parking is limited. Other than that I would stay here again any day! Rooms were very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The whiskey selection at the bar was impeccable. Food for room service breakfast was delicious as was the dinner we enjoyed the night before. Wonderful place to stay and have a getaway for the weekend.

Had a wonderful time at The Southern! Enjoyed the quiet room, serene surroundings, great bar, dining at The Gloriette and historic details of the property. Staff was very accommodating, warm and professional.

The hotel was beautiful but there was a wedding the night we stayed there. The bar and sitting areas were packed so we didn't get to enjoy them. We did eat at the restaurant and it was very good.

What an absolute precious hotel. Staff was wonderful, parking was a little hard (only because of the Christmas event that was going on at the hotel. Rooms clean and comfortable and the restaurant and bar were very nice

The Southern Hotel is our new favorite place. Everything was above par.One of the desk clerks was interested in history. My great grandfather opened The Southern Hotel as a hospital in the early 1900s. Later building "The Fenwick Sanatarium" she had read about it. Her interest made me feel special. The restaurant was excellent, my husband couldn't stop talking about how good the Shrimp and grits were. We live in "Cajun" country and are known for our food. This bested it and the presentation was perfect.

When we checked in the staff on duty were not very friendly. Almost snooty like. The lobby and grounds of the hotel were beautiful but our room was the very last room on the 2nd hall of the 2nd floor it overlooked the HVAC system. We booked this room months ago so I thought we would have had a much better view. The lady on staff working the morning after we arrived was very kind and helpful.

The Southern Hotel is a marvelous place to spend your time while traveling. It is a beautiful property which is well maintained and a staff that is friendly and efficient.
