The room itself was lovely: quiet, clean, a good size, with a good shower. Unfortunately, several issues really let the hotel down. There was a large pile of rubbish immediately outside the hotel entrance less than five metres from our room, which looked as though it had been accumulating for some time. Check-in took over 35 minutes despite there being only one family ahead of us. Our reservation was confirmed as correct within the first few minutes, yet we were left standing at reception while the receptionist continued dealing with the other booking. Most concerning was that the key-card system wasn't working, so reception had to manually unlock rooms for guests. When we returned after dinner, my partner simply gave our room number and a staff member unlocked the room for her without asking for her name, ID or any proof that she was staying there. A shame, because the room itself was genuinely very good.
