Rock Hotel

Room and service was very good. Swimming pool and service was excellent. Breakfast service for tea and coffe slow and my tea was only luke warm on one occasion. In general I enjoyed our stay and would return if visiting Gibraltar again.

Great room with lovely view of the sea. Staff were friendly and there was free on-site parking. My only criticism is that we arrived at 14:50 and were able to do the check-in paperwork, but were told to return in 10 minutes to get the key. I can understand not letting someone into their room if it is hours early, but making someone wait 10 minutes—standing at the desk and then getting the key cards at exactly 15:00 was annoying.

Location: up a steep hill a bit of a walk from the city centre, with lovely views over the harbour towards Spain with the Rock behind. Room: clean and a good size, has aircon (that isn't pointing directly at the bed so cools the room nicely without you sleeping in a draft). Balcony was lovely to enjoy, shame the guests in the room next door kept smoking on their balcony, forcing me inside. In room fridge was also welcome, I kept drinks in there to keep cool in the hot weather. Swimming Pool: salt water pool across the road, lovely location with the gardens around and when floating on your back you have a great view of the Rock. Breakfast: could have been better for the price, especially the coffee, but adequate. Overall staff were friendly and welcoming, check-in was easy and they were happy for me to leave my suitcase early and go explore. Checkout I had to wait for the staff to finish their smoke break which was somewhat annoying when you've got a flight to catch.

The hotel was a good base nice pool area , very handy for the cable car to the Rock and walkable to the Main st and marina area, we didnt eat in the hotel.

Nice bar area and terrace with a lovely and legendary bar staff. Pool area nice enough but across road from hotel so feels a little detached. Room wasn’t ready when we arrived and we were told we would get a call when it was available…no-one called…no apology either. Woken by banging and hammering at 6:15 am…front desk couldn’t have cared less when I told them. Not the service I expect from a hotel of this standard.

The hotel was Central and well situated to the attractions we were looking to visit. The hotel provided a great breakfast and the bar area was pleasant to sit in with great views of the harbour. The pool was detached from the Hotel but was in easy walking distance and was a great quiet spot to spend a hot afternoon.

The property has excellent views, a good restaurant and bar, the swimming pool is decent. TV has 200 channels I think some older people may struggle with the hill up to the hotel entrance.

Pool was closed for the end of season even though temps were well over 20degs

I would not stay in any other hotel in GIB. The views are magnificent; for me the most outstanding feature of the hotel together with the proximity of the lovely Alameda Botanical Gardens and of course the historical context..The two Maitre'ds Natalya and Abdullah were outstanding ambassadors and provided excellent restaurant service which complemented the wonderful menus. My wife loved the pool and the gardens, but my only criticism is that crossing that busy main road to get to the pool is an accident waiting to happen. The hotel should invest in a simple pedestrian bridge. It would be a huge benefit !

Loved our stay at this property. Parking was so easy across the street and we walked to the gondola ride to the rock and downtown for dinner. The property is well maintained and has amazing views from the balconies. I only regret we did not stay for breakfast as they had a gluten free area in their buffet and I would have liked to try it. Perhaps on our next visit.

The staff were very friendly. However, the hotel is in need of a bit of TLC. I did have a problem with the maid service and as far as we didn’t need towels changing and followed their advice. However, they still change them. The toilet rolls were never replaced, and I had to go searching for some, the extractor in the bathroom didn’t work. I am informed all of this to the hotel

One night in Gibraltar, we walked from the border. Easy until the you reach the hill the hotel is situated on 😂 (better with a taxi!) Warm and friendly welcome, staff are great. Room spacious and clean & we did have an adjoining room door which seemed to be open which made us a bit uncomfortable though. Perfectly clean, however some odd mixes of the lovely retro furniture with plastic floor panels etc. Could just do with a bit of bringing back to life. Views from our west facing room excellent!

The view from our balcony room was fantastic. The room itself was very clean and spacious. The outside pool was lovely as was the nearby Botanical Gardens. Walking into the town and various marina's and bars was easy but the walk back up the hill to the hotel might be too much for some in which case catch a bus or taxi. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel.

The receptionists are good and friendly. The space of the room is good and well layout. Having problem with TV. The kettle inside was rusty. The tea pot was not cleaned after being used. The pillows were too hard and uncomfortable. The air conditioning unit blew out some dirts. We had to turn it off and open the window and balcony door instead.

We arrived via the rock hotel bus stop as taxis are non-existent in Gibraltar and looking up at the hotel you get a very grand feeling but that’s all that’s grand. The staff were welcoming but we didn’t feel special. We made our way up to the room and found a letter under the door warning us that the water will be shut off at 11am the next day. The worst part about that letter is that it was covered in ants. The room was tired and needed a good clean, the floor was old and had traces of what we can assume is ant powder. After a long day we decided to head down to the bar for a quick bite to eat and the food was average at best. The ceasar salad was just salad and chicken smothered in mayo. The door had a bizarre locking mechanism which wasn’t explained at all and would leave the room open if not used correctly. The room had the very basics of what you needed. No spare pillows, no iron etc Air con was noisy and weak. The bed was like sleeping on concrete and using breeze blocks for pillows. I ended up sleeping on my jumper to compensate. The hallways have wooden flooring and you can hear absolutely everything going on in the night. When the room next to us came back and closed the door it sounded like it was our room. A few times throughout the night we woke up to the noise of people returning to their rooms. when mentioned the ants the next morning it was blissfully ignored as we were told to pay our bill.

Overall it was very enjoyable, especially the pool. There were some 'niggles' though. The breakfast buffet was quite good, though nothing like so good as many in hotels I have stayed in with a far lesser rating. There wasn't a coffee machine so getting a refill was haphazard at best. Service in both the breakfast room and the bar was bordering on poor with long waits to get any attention. Our room was well maintained and clean and the beds were very comfortable, plenty of storage space too.

We absolutely loved the cleanliness, charm, service and location this Hotel provided, from the moment we arrived until we departed the front desk staff, porter, bar & restaurant and maid service were just fantastic. It rained our three days in Gibraltar so we ate all of our meals here and every one of them was excellent! Would we stay here again? Without Question!

FULLSTÄNDIG KATASTROF. AVOID AVOID AVOID. De lyckades göra en resa för 10 personer till en veritabel katastrof. Hotellet är mycket nedgånget och smutsigt, ett av våra totalt 4 rum städades inte trots flera påminnelser samt vi fick ingen förklaring till varför man vägrads att städa rummet. Mycket smutsig inredning och bland annat mögel i duscharna, se bifogade bilder. Beställde rum inkl frukost men väl på plats var man tvungen att betal ca 75 % mer om man ville ha annat än enbart kaffe och bröd att äta på mörgonen!!!!! Rumspriserna är mycket för höga i relation till rummens skick och standard. Personalen var överlag ointresserad och ville helst inte att man skulle störa dem. Värst var personalen i frukostmatsalen samt de i receptionen. För att komma till poolområdet var man tvungen att korsa en hårt trafikerad allmän väg. Det fanns inte ens ett övergångsställe. Hotellet behöver en ordentlig renovering och delar av personalen behöver gå en kurs i hur man får sina gäster att trivas. I stayed in room 122. Sea view balcony twin room. Negatives first, the bathroom was very small and the toilet was insanely close to the wall! The bathroom also had a leak which leaked out the door after every bath/shower. The room walls were thin so you could hear next door conversations and noises in the hallway due to hard floors. We were unable to get a shuttle from the airport or to the airport even though the website claims you can, there was always a reason why they couldn’t arrange it or would recommend a taxi!? Also, the Rock hotel is perched on a VERY steep and long hill, so not recommend for the less fit or older guest. POSITIVES: the location is ideal, 10-15 minute walk to the Main Street and main square, 20 minute walk to the Marina and Ocean Village. Because it is perched on the side of the rock of Gibraltar, the views are amazing!! Large balconies! Views are of the harbour and are ever changing. You can see Spain & North Africa clearly. CABLE CAR is 5 minute walk. The rooms are clean and well stocked, nice size wardrobe and bedside tables. Coffee & tea making facilities, mini fridge, complimentary water bottles and nice bathroom minis. Offers a laundry service. Room service is not for breakfast. Restaurant downstairs had a nice menu and good food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall I would stay here again but not in that room. I stayed in 123 last time and was perfect.

The room was a bit too small for us / room 332 and the bathroom was a bit of a joke ... we moved from room 206 because there was no bath .. but the bath in 332 was so small it was not fit for purpose. overall i was expecting a much more luxurious room than we got

This is a lovely, spacious hotel. Our room had a beautiful balcony over looking the harbour. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is located just a short uphill walk from the bus stop.

Good breakfast. The room was a bit small, and the bathroom was also small. We had a lovely terrace. The view over the bay was very beautiful. The hotel was very noisy due to a steep road right in front, with cars accelerating loudly. You have to cross this road to get to the pool!

Room was small but cozy. Best part was the balcony with a great view of the harbor and clean bed. Since the room was fairly small not much space in the bathroom.

Great location with beautiful views. Room somewhat dated but clean. Some concerns about safety - No anti slip mat available in bathtub shower, power for kettle faulty, sometimes worked some times did not. Excellent staff.

The hotel had a great view and the beds are very comfortable. I gave 3 stars because it was very loud. We could hear the people walking in the room above and the people talking in the room next door. Also the toilet was installed incorrectly , instead of facing outward it was sideways between 2 walls, not comfort table or even possible if you are a tall person, unless you sit on it sideways. I don’t know if all the rooms are like this. We ate dinner in the bar area and the food was so so and the service was not good. All in all it was a nice location and great view.

Hotel itself was nice and hotel staff were friendly. Views were good. Rooms could use some modernising and looked a bit tired in some areas. Restaurant and bar were fairly poor, service staff were unfriendly and seemed put out at the prospect of doing their jobs. Breakfast was a 5/10 but very expensive at £18 per person.

The hotel exterior looks the part, but that's where it stops. The room was nice and spacious and the view from the balcony was good, the phone did not work in our room for the whole of our stay , even though it was reported twice.First night went for a meal in the restaurant and the service and food were very poor, as was the breakfast the next day. There's one member of staff that is worth his wait in gold and that is David

Lovely hotel and brea with my family. The check in however was terrible. It took from 10:30 until 17:00 to check in and get our room's. The bookings were confused with one of our party being in a room two floors away. They blamed hotels.com for the confusion which was not true. Great holiday, great hotel, terrible check in

The staff was extremely rude. We had difficulties findind the right elevator and the male British porter critizised us, was unhelpful, rolled his eyes, and did not offer helping us with our suitcases down the steps. Probably the worse staff we encountered in many years.

Excellent service, staff are very friendly.

I would recommend the hotel to anybody. The price was extremely affordable and yet the service was superb and the staff are wonderful. The hotel and my room specifically had magnificent views.

I do have a grievance. The personnel was just not up to par with other 4-star hotels. We had to walk out on day one because after waiting nearly 20 minutes, nobody took our order. Second day, while we were waiting for coffee, nobody would come to serve us. I went to the person that was scheduling the tables and I asked for someone to bring our coffees, so what happened was that instead of lattes they brought drip coffee with milk. They still charged us 5,50 pounds for that (which was horrible). Anyway, not coming back to this hotel.

Bra hotell med en fantastisk utsikt, gångavstånd till centrum och intill linbanan. Ligger i en stor backe så lite jobbigt att gå uppför.

I loved everything EXCEPT the walk up the hill to the property but that's just because I don't exercise..... i'll try harder on my cardio for my next visit.

Great location and proximity to the cable car and the rock of Gibraltar (5 minute walk). Free parking which proved useful. It’s kind of “the” hotel due to its location to the rock. It’s a tourist haven (probably to be expected) and generally well put together with stylings of history and celebrity guests though it could be spruced up a bit. But it’s clean and convenient. The desk staff has a few less than helpful folks which was unfortunate but others on staff make up for it.

An excellent hotel, close to the cable car base. (Be warned, though, that if you're wheeling luggage from the bus stop, the climb up to the hotel is quite steep. Also, my room's lighting was weird; I couldn't find a way to turn off a couple of lights (I had to unscrew the bulbs to turn them off).)

Good traditional hotel with high quality throughout in an excellent location for sightseeing and an easy bus ride to airport or town centre.

Nice hotel, 50’s retro style, could do with some modernisation in facilities, unfortunately I did not like the fact people were allowed to smoke while others were still eating in the restaurant/veranda area.

Bra beliggenhet. Det tar ca 30 minutter å gå fra grensen til hotellet - kun en bakke opp mot hotellet. Hotellet er staselig men har nok sett sine bedre dager. Frokosten var ikke mye å skryte av. Flott utsikt og meget vennlig betjening. Det var både eurostikk og uk-stikk på rommet.
