Very outdated. Carpet was stained and very old. Looked dirty. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom door had a hole in it and there was black mold on the walls, ceiling and wood trim by the tub and on the floor. Outside patio was nice and fireplace was nice. Fridge was bigger than usual hotel fridges. Hot tub in pool area was broken. Restaurant had great service but was overpriced.

This is a nice resort for families but it was not entirely accessible for my guests with mobility issues. The private beach is accessible only by walking through a gate and 2 blocks of an adjacent private neighborhood so we were not able to use it since my guests could not walk that far. The host originally placed us in a 3rd floor room that had no elevator access but they did find another room with walking access. The hallways are not air conditioned so walking the long hallways in the summer is uncomfortable. The bathrooms could use updating and there are no microwave in the room. The pub had a nice lunch but does not have a clear handicap access as it is right next to the pro shop so there are golf carts lined up on either side on the driveway leading to the pub. There is an excellent full size indoor pool and the setting around a 9 hole hole course is beautiful. We made our stay work but I would be very clear about what kind of room and accessibility is needed as this historic location has limitations.

This was the perfect getaway randomly found it and me and my husband are making it our go to every year private beach,golfing,pub,pool,hot tub, hammocks. Also quick walk down the beach to the town which was full of food desserts and shopping. So much fun.

The resort was tired. Pool was nice and warm but needed cleaning. Sauna did not heat up enough o warrant being called a sauna.

nice place.... they call it a 'resort' which I guess it is and if you are a golfer, it has a nice golf course. The pool and sauna advertised is just ok. Private beach is a bit of a walk, but very nice. Easy access to the town and all those amenities. So we were happy there, but a bit pricy if you are not a golfer. Rooms are nice and clean, service was good. Good restaurant on-site (Daves Pub).

We were disappointed with our experience. The amount of stairs was an issue. Stairwell was hot and carpets were stained. Banister was wobbly. Upgrading is definitely needed. Beach area was full of debris. Complementary breakfast is not offered. Buffet style breakfast is $30. I've stayed in less expensive places that offered at least continental breakfast included with stay. Dave's pub was nice with good food. Pool was nice but in need of a cleaning. Not worth the money.☹️

Hello! Terribly to book the place Oakwood resort spa. Other related services were not in there. Like Pool( cold water) sauna or pool attendants. They are still have add card for spa in the room which is not running since 2 years. Totally disappointed. Rate was so expensive. If you needed to me deal with your web. 50% should be refunded cash to my card. Not any next booking or any promotional offers. I am sending the picture which I took while stay in my this visit.

No microwave option included, charged $25 for the very old microwave. Room was not cleaned and towels not changed, stayed 2 nights on the long weekend. No washrooms on the private beach, even portable, 10 minutes walk to the room, clearly no one used the room's washroom, when on the beach. PRICE FOR THE ROOM IS OVERCHARGED.

Booked a 2 night stay. First room that was assigned to us appeared to have been occupied and still had beds and sheets undone, as well as have toothbrushes and toiletries, etc in the bathroom. Not cool. Called the front desk and they had us move all of our stuff to a different "upgraded" room in a different building altogether. 2nd room was somewhat better, but had a very dusty and dirty floor that has not been cleaned or vaccumed in a very long time. I did not see much of an upgrade. For the price we paid, we could have had a much nicer place to stay. Although it\'s a nice family friendly resort, I would not bring my family back here...much better options out there. For

The whole room felt a bit dated. The washroom fixtures were from the early 2000s. The TV was small relative to the room size and the colour hue showed its age. There was dust and dirt behind the table, bed, wall corners and edges of the room. Given the rating and price of the hotel, I expected much better.

We stayed there for two days, The room was not too clean, they don’t provide cleaning services for both days, we also had someone making noise upstairs till 4am and the staff had to come in listen to the noise so they could believe what we were saying, as they said the did transfer those people to different room but actually they were still there. Also they had security fees that they don’t show it when you book online with them. Location was nice and beautiful view.

I would say they need to do some maintenance and update the property. They need to clean better as well. Carpets and furniture are very dated as well as tv’s etc. beds were fine and it’s a nice area but come on oak wood….nothing has changed in 20 years!

The hotel needs a huge Reno and for the price they are charging it’s a complete rip off. Our original room had carpet that was damp snd smelled and the bathroom was moldy with cob webs. We switched rooms to the main lodge and it was a bit better because the floor was laminate and no pealing and moldywallpaper in the bathroom. The staff was amazing and I feel bad that they have to put up with multiple complaints. Never saw any management on the property. The only thing they have going is that they have a private beach access. For those people that do not want to fight the crowds at Grand Bends main beach it is a good location. Much better options for Grand Bend. Would not stay there again.

Access to the beach was amazing! Staff at the front desk upon check-in were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately the pool was dirty and there weren’t enough chairs to even sit around the pool. Stayed in Pine lodge which was so loud listening to all the people in the hall way. A/C hardly worked and carpets throughout the pine lodge were so stained and gross.

The room I pre booked and requested (backing onto the golf course) wasn’t ready upon arrival at check in time (4PM) so we were given another room which was away from my guests, without a balcony or walk out in a different building and dirty upon arrival-the bathroom floor had hair and the refrigerator was not cleaned.

Oakwood Inn was just OK. Certainly not a 4 star hotel. Rooms were comfortable like a dated rustic lodge, which was kind of nice and added to the overall feel of the place. It could do with a little TLC and attention to detail in the cleanliness department. Maybe wash the windows and sweep off the sitting areas occasionally. Our first room smelled so bad of stale cigarette smoke we asked to be switched. They say " no smoking" in the rooms but I am not sure they really do anything about it. The whole 1st floor of our Lodge reeked of it Unfortunately, the dining room where breakfast is served is crawling with carpenter ants. Speaking of buffet breakfast, it is not that great. Chewy bacon, powdered eggs, frozen begium waffles, instant oatmeal.... I have had better at a Super 8 or Comfort Inn. Very disappointing. Dave's Pub was very good, though. Deanne was great and she and her coworkers work their butts off with a smile on their face. Shout out to Robin at the front desk. She is super helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, this is a decent place to stay, but is not worth the 4 star rating and a little overpriced for what you are getting. Unless you are looking for somewhere quiet, close to the beach and within walking distance of downtown.

The mildew smell in the room hit you when you opened the door and everything was damp (carpet, bed, couch). They put us in an adjoining room and there was a barky dog. The tv remote didn’t work. We checked out early after one night and they didn’t apologize, offer us a different room or offer us a refund. So disappointing because we have not had any complaints of our stays in the past.

The property itself is beautiful and well kept. The rooms could use a facelift along with the outdated furniture. Upon checking in, we were told at 3:30 to come back at 4:00. I would say they need to do some maintenance and update the property. They need to clean better as well. Carpets and furniture are very dated as well as tv’s etc. beds were fine and it’s a nice area but come on oak wood….nothing has changed in 20 years!

Access to the beach was amazing! Staff at the front desk upon check-in were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately the pool was dirty and there weren’t enough chairs to even sit around the pool. Stayed in Pine lodge which was so loud listening to all the people in the hall way. A/C hardly worked and carpets throughout the pine lodge were so stained and gross.

I loved the property and the proximity to the beach. Only 5 mins down the road, and the view of the lake on the walk is beautiful too. Rooms are spacious. I stayed in the main lodge with a golf course view, and a pond as well. Baby geese were on the grass, so cute!

We paid $600 for our room mid week for one night. It was what you would expect for a room half the price. I wanted to get to the room an hour early and was unable to. The room was tired looking with patio doors that were damaged and hard to open. The bed was nice. There was a living room that had a somewhat comfortable couch. The towels were small and scratchy .There was a fridge, coffee maker and microwave, but the coffee maker in a room off the bathroom, and the microwave on the desk, meaning I had to bend over awkwardly to use it. Not exactly a kitchenette. There was not a vending machine on our floor, the carpets were badly stained on the staircases and stairwells. There was a pub on the grounds but nowhere for finer dining. It is not that the stay was bad or unacceptable. But there are better places to go for that price

For a reservation of 4, you find 2 towels only. As well the paper tissue was out, toilet paper too. Not impressed at all and waiting time at reception is terrible. Probably because I catched a group of people checking and it was hours waiting.

One of the worst experiences for the most expensive one night stay I have ever had and I am a global traveller. This place is a very old, run down lodge not worth $480 per night plus 7% resort fees plus 13% taxes. The pictures do not justify its ugliness. Though it depends on your expectations and experiences. The only positive point is its location to the main street and it's private beach. Staff, specially the so called supervisor are rude and treat you very differently if you are of minority. Our room was not ready at check-in and was not ready at the stated check-in time of 4 p.m. the excuse was that room is still not ready and the housekeeping was behind. At 5:30 when I complained, the so called supervisor blamed me for booking the room the day of. Can you believe that? I booked the place in the morning via Expedia and check-in at 2 p.m. the so called supervisor was blaming me for their room not being ready for the 4:00 p.m. check-in time as their own policy and was unhappy that I was aggetatand and upset for her gas lighting me. The other admin who helped us to find out that our room was still not ready at 5, provided us late check out; however the so called supervisor was making me feel like she did it. When we got to the room, only one key was working, not enough towels for all of us, only one soap, nothing else and the toilet seat, well let me tell you how bad that was. I am sure with the amount of money they charge they can afford to change their toilet seats.

My check in process was one of the worst hotel check in experiences mainly due to the only customer ahead of me who delayed the check-in to over 40mins due to their problems, I wish management called in another staff to help her and move others checking in or tell us to come back as we missed our birthday dinner reservation, it wasn't a late check in either, only 1.5hrs after check in time. The rounded/bent shower rod was also installed backwards in our bathroom and the shower curtain sticks to you while you shower which was an awkward situation haha

We had an amazing two nights at the Oakwood Resort! The staff were pleasant, courteous and helpful. The grounds were beautiful and so peaceful. We enjoyed the pool as well. It was so handy to walk to the private beach or drive 6 minutes to Grand Bend beach, We enjoyed walking the strip with all the interesting shops. Just a great little gem for a getaway!

Great location - quiet and there was always somewhere to park. We unfortunately didn't try the onsite restaurant but will when we return. This was our first visit to the Oakwood but we have been many times to Grand Bend. It was a great location that we would happily return to. The rooms were a bit run down. The washrooms could have used some renovations but it was functional. We went to the pool and enjoyed the private beach. It was a very nice trip! Nothing fancy, but it was very enjoyable and we were able to walk both along the beach, and along the highway to go back and forth to the main area in Grand Bend. I would return!

Oakwood Inn had a private beach to walk to. The city beach was overcrowded and hard to get a parking spot. That, was a big advantage. But,They need to do more for their customers that need help getting to the beach. Plus it was hard to sleep with dogs barking and noisy neighbors in the hotel.

Lovely cottage-like retreat! This place is a gem. I booked for just one night on our way back home, but I wish I had done more! Quick walk down to a private sandy beach with restaurant and bar on site. Nice grounds. Quiet and secluded.

Great amenities. Swimming pool was clean and accessible. Beach was quiet and clean. Sandy and great for young kids. The golf course was well maintained and not overly busy. Easy to book a tee time. Daves pub food was excellent and the server was amazing. Overall fantastic stay. Wish we had booked for a couple extra days

Private beach area was only a short walk from hotel and through an area of beautiful homes. Only downside if the stay was the buffet breakfast, pancakes and waffles a bit hard and cold & eggs seemed like they were prepared the night before (save your $20 per adult o. Stayed here for the Labour Day long weekend. I knew full well that I'd have more to do there had I golfed. Facilities are good, as well as the room. The bed was very comfortable. One complaint about the room is that the balcony looked out onto an embankment of trees blocking much of the view of the course. The breakfast and lunch/dinner options were good, but pricey. The dinners were more worth it at Dave's Pub, but I only had the breakfast buffet once as the cost dodn't justify the selection. The major complaint I have with Dave's Pub was the service. The first meal had decent service, but not the second one. It felt I was being hurried up a little bit. Lastly, the private beach was good. The sand was soft and the water was cold, but shallow. Overall, good, but not great. If I stay again, I'd eat my meals elsewhere.

Oakwood Inn was just OK. Certainly not a 4 star hotel. Rooms were comfortable like a dated rustic lodge, which was kind of nice and added to the overall feel of the place. It could do with a little TLC and attention to detail in the cleanliness department. Maybe wash the windows and sweep off the sitting areas occasionally. Our first room smelled so bad of stale cigarette smoke we asked to be switched. They say " no smoking" in the rooms but I am not sure they really do anything about it. The whole 1st floor of our Lodge reeked of it Unfortunately, the dining room where breakfast is served is crawling with carpenter ants. Speaking of buffet breakfast, it is not that great. Chewy bacon, powdered eggs, frozen begium waffles, instant oatmeal.... I have had better at a Super 8 or Comfort Inn. Very disappointing. Dave's Pub was very good, though. Deanne was great and she and her coworkers work their butts off with a smile on their face. Shout out to Robin at the front desk. She is super helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, this is a decent place to stay, but is not worth the 4 star rating and a little overpriced for what you are getting. Unless you are looking for somewhere quiet, close to the beach and within walking distance of downtown.

The registration clerk was awesome and so sophisticated and helpful with his service. Private beach was amazing and not far from the main Grand Bend strip to shop! The food was gross but they were really busy at the bar and grill. The breakfast was overpriced and basic, I don't know why I thought it was included in the stay. But the property is gorgeous and secluded, we would definitely come here again, but get Timmies and Subway for breakfast and lunch :)!

Private beach is a bit of a walk, but very nice. Easy access to the town and all those amenities. So we were happy there, but a bit pricy if you are not a golfer. Rooms are nice and clean, service was good. Good restaurant on-site (Daves Pub).

We paid $600 for our room mid week for one night. It was what you would expect for a room half the price. I wanted to get to the room an hour early and was unable to. The room was tired looking with patio doors that were damaged and hard to open. The bed was nice. There was a living room that had a somewhat comfortable couch. The towels were small and scratchy .There was a fridge, coffee maker and microwave, but the coffee maker in a room off the bathroom, and the microwave on the desk, meaning I had to bend over awkwardly to use it. Not exactly a kitchenette. There was not a vending machine on our floor, the carpets were badly stained on the staircases and stairwells. There was a pub on the grounds but nowhere for finer dining. It is not that the stay was bad or unacceptable. But there are better places to go for that price

The location was great. The Pine lodge is a bit dated and run down. The room needs some maintenance/repair. The toilet was very wobbly, the blow dryer was broken, and the bathroom fan was grinding so loud we thought the motor was going to burn out. For the pricy cost of staying at this resort, we expected much better.

Private beach access was great! Carpet felt dirty, rooms were outdated and breakfast buffet was just okay with many items that ran out with slow replacement. Staff were generally pretty good. More were super friendly and helpful.

Rooms and especially bathrooms need to be renovated. Front desk staff was not very welcoming. Upon check out you are usually asked about your stay ..... nothing. No feedback requested or wanted. Beach area convenient but needed to be cleaned. Overall found it to be overpriced.
