Porto Bello Royal

Disappointed to be honest. First gripe is that although the actual resort is lovely, pools maintained well and lots of them, beach is good, it is directly under the flight path and there are a LOT of flights coming in and out all day long. Room cleaning was a bit hit and miss and one of our rooms didn’t have the drinks stocked once during our 10 day stay which was annoying. Booking restaurants was a bit frustrating because you always had to go to reception, could only book 2 days ahead and the reception always took a loooong time. The food was dreadful though which is the main disappointment, didn’t have a single good meal. Selection wasn’t great and seemed like everything had been heated up from the freezer section, we ate out many times. Also frustrating when the website advertises access to the waterpark at the affiliate hotel next door but upon arrival we were told that we had to pay an entry fee and our wristbands didn’t even make us eligible for drinks on-site. Not a big deal perhaps but very misleading. It was a pleasant stay but I wouldn’t go back.

We were a large party staying for a wedding we loved the size of the hotel and its location on the beach. We had a swim up sea views room which was superb. If you are looking for a lively hotel with a swim up activity pool there isn’t one but there are lots of pools and lots to do. The main restaurant is lovely with good food choice and attentive waiters. Our favourite restaurant was on the beach especially the chilled vibe and the breakfast. Special shout out to Jess who was superb at speaking to us all letting us know what activities were going on -I loved the stretching class on the beach and the aqua fit in the pool ! Also Eni our waitress in the evening was super attentive and great fun. ! This hotel is a great vibe no rushing for sunbeds no queues for meals and great drinks and bars - we loved our stay. All the staff were super friendly - apart from those on reception who were quite blunt and rude.

The primary issue with this property is lack of air conditioning.

Our room service was not good, but it may be subjective. They have over 1000 rooms so maybe the person who is cleaning our rooms was not motivated. Food is awesome. Service is really nice and friendly to children.

There are so many things I could say about this wonderful resort. Will be going back again as soon as I can arrange it.
