Loved the comfort, quiet & uniqueness of this hotel - from the lobby spaces & decor to the tiniest details in the room & beautiful spacious bathroom. Only critique was no bellman to help with luggage or ramp at front to get luggage easily to the lobby.

Stunning property! We went for an overnight stay, Yale University tour. The hotel is near everything. The coffee bar was delicious, lots of options too. The lobby and rooms beautiful and unique.

Great location - minutes from Yale’s Old Campus & around the corner from Pierson ResCo. Charming decor. Minimal space for drop off/check-in. Competing drop-off/street space with The Study (hotel next door-caution: unprofessional staff) - especially during busy times (Grad/Family weekend). No designated parking. Private (non-hotel) parking garage across the street.

The load-in process wasn't very clear. The neighboring hotels on a busy street have multiple spots for valet and told us that the Graduate has one spot available for load-in, which was apparently already in use. Thankfully there are nearby garages, so we just grabbed a spot in a garage and walked our luggage from there.

We initially walked right by the hotel as it is not noticeably marked, the building has signage that says “Hotel Duncan” on the exterior. Also, when we got inside, the room room floor and room itself was musty smelling and there was no way to get fresh air into the room (i.e. open a window, etc)

This hotel is located in an amazing area. It is close to everything. Close to great restaurants, shopping stores, and the Yale Art Gallery. The hotel is welcoming from the second you walk in. The art on the wall and decorations 😍 separate it from any hotel I have previously been in. The hotel is super clean.

I was so excited to stay here a second time (originally stayed here in October 2022), but I was let down by the lack of customer service and housekeeping. We stayed for four nights and had the room serviced once (at 5:00 pm), but only after I asked several times the day before and the day of. For a four star hotel, this property has two star service. Other than that stark negative, this hotel is gorgeous, decorated nicely, and very comfortable. I would consider staying a third time, only if the housekeeping issue is resolved.

So slept in my bed 1st night , 2nd night and while fixing my bed to sleep in it for the 3rd night i pulled the covers back and found a pair of mens underwear IN MY Bed, so i slept with that in my bed for 2 nights. I told the lady at the front desk the next morning. All she sais was "i will notify housekeeping. So when i checked out a couple of hours later and mentioned it again, and she FORGOT to mention it to housekeeping. Neither time did she apologize, and didnt seem to care about the situation. I am disgusted and disappointed in their staff. Paid $1400 for 3 nights and obviously in a dirty bed. Shame on them.

Lovely hotel and conveniently situated. The reception guys were very welcoming. The room was clean, tidy, fair bit of room for the three of us and a very lovely bathroom with a big shower.

Hotel is well located and very clean. Room was very pretty, bathroom was super clean and nice . Hotel staff was great. Warning that it is dog friendly and we heard dogs barking.

I always wanted to stay at this hotel and I was not disappointed. The rooms are beautifully refurbished and comfortable. The staff was super helpful. And the feeling in the lobby can't be beat. Loved it.

Such a lovely, fun hotel! Everything was perfect. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The lobby was gorgeous - a great place to settle in with delicious beverage from the coffee shop and a good book. I also enjoyed all of the historic character they kept from when it was the Hotel Duncan. I just loved everything about it.

I had a great time at the Graduate. Quiet, close to campus, close to Toad's place, and close to bunch of great restaurants. Only area of improvement would be the WiFi -- it was consistent but not particularly fast.

The staff is very hospitable. She let me check in early and helped us with luggages as the elevator was out of order for a while. I really like the library set up so I was able to focus on working for a long while as my husband needs to use the desk in the room. The location is the best. I wish they had free bottled water in the room. The cafe in the lobby is very nice.

This was a return visit to the Graduate New Haven for me. Location is great (near my favorite pastries at Atticus), and rooms are comfortable -- space to work, nice shower, comfy bed. I requested an upper floor/quieter room because I was here for work, and I was happy with what they gave me. Desk attendant was super kind -- and this was true the last time I was here with my family, too!

Night staff was unfriendly and not helpful. She was super grumpy about directing me to off-site/paid parking (annoying in itself) and reluctant to provide VIP bottle of wine. Morning staff was great.

I recently stayed at The Graduate Hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. The highlight of my stay was Christina, the very kind and thoughtful Hotel Manager. She was incredibly informative about where to park our vehicle and provided clear directives, which made our arrival much smoother. However, it's important to note that there is no valet service at this hotel. The streets around the hotel are quite tight, so you will need to drive to a parking lot and walk back to the hotel. This wasn't a major issue, but it's something to be aware of if you have a lot of luggage or are arriving late at night. One thing to keep in mind is that the entrance of the hotel has stairs. If you haven't packed light, you'll find yourself lugging your baggage up a flight of steps to get to the main lobby. This can be a bit of a hassle if you're not prepared for it. Additionally, the hotel does not offer a free breakfast. The only breakfast option available consists of pastries that you can purchase. While they were tasty, I did miss having a more substantial breakfast included with my stay. On a positive note, all the staff at The Graduate were very kind and accommodating, which made my stay more enjoyable. The location is also a major plus, as it is conveniently situated within walking distance to Yale University, making it an excellent choice for anyone visiting the campus, and they accept pets which is a big plus.

So nice. Holy cow, we had our (very well-behaved) Border Collie on a trip to look for a grad apartment for our daughter. ALL the people at this lovely hotel could not have been kinder or more accommodating—from check-in staff to cleaning staff to coffee counter staff. I almost cried with gratitude. Perfect location, charming, immaculate room.
So nice. Holy cow, we had our (very well-behaved) Border Collie on a trip to look for a grad apartment for our daughter. ALL the people at this lovely hotel could not have been kinder or more accommodating—from check-in staff to cleaning staff to coffee counter staff. I almost cried with gratitude. Perfect location, charming, immaculate room.

Terrible experience. My credit card was twice for my stay. The manager at the property initially would not answer the phone or return my calls. After contacting Hilton customer relations I finally started receiving email communication. Despite providing screenshots of the duplicate charges on my credit card the manager, Dylan, continued to insist there were not two charges. Hilton customer relations also then stated that mgmt said there were not two charges. After a week of back and forth and no resolution I had to dispute the duplicate charge directly with my credit card company. I then received an email stating that since I opened a dispute with the credit card co there was nothing they could do to help me! Ha, like they had been helping in the first place. The dispute was resolved after another 3 weeks in which it was determined there WERE two charges on my account for my stay and the duplicate charge was reversed. Have I received any apology or acknowledgment of their mistake, no I have not. I will never stay at a Hilton property again and wouldn’t recommend anyone stay at Graduate New Haven either. Highly unprofessional service.

Some cafeteria staff are very friendly and helpful, but everything is microwave “made”, or pr packaged,Not even prepackaged fruit, bananas, very limited. And housekeeping was just making up the mess and arranging towels. Not cleaning at all.

The Graduate New Haven is a lovely place to stay when visiting New Haven. Right off the Yale U campus, it was a perfect choice for our stay! We arrived early afternoon, too early to check in, but we stopped in and the desk clerk gave information for a nearby parking garage (only $19 overnight) so we parked and had lunch at one of several restaurants right across from the hotel. Soon we were on our way for a visit to the campus and its many sites. We came back early evening to check in.The front desk staff were courteous, friendly, and helpful. Originally the Hotel Duncan, built in the 1890s, the hotel lobby, hallways, and rooms reflect the history! Our room was awesome! Spacious, comfortable, clean. And homey! With a fireplace mantel and vintage artwork. And Dutch tiles in the modern shower of a very spacious bathroom. Room rates very reasonable for the location and the experience!

Really close to Yale. No on site parking so we had to search for parking and walk back to the hotel late at night after we arrived…and there were some iffy characters around the area. More iffy characters greeted us near our parked car at 8:30am the next morning. The best part was Kristina at the front desk! She was really friendly and helpful.

The hotel had wonderful unique decor, a lovely coffee shop within the hotel, a very welcoming staff and a great location in terms of access to Yale, restaurants and museums! We enjoyed it so much that we looked to see where other Graduate hotels are located.

The rooms were nicely redone, classy and old school but clean and modernized. Staff and service were excellent, the Poindexter cafe downstairs was super convenient with delicious and good quality coffee and breakfast items. Location extremely convenient to shops, dining and campus.

Stunning property! We went for an overnight stay, Yale University tour. The hotel is near everything. The coffee bar was delicious, lots of options too. The lobby and rooms beautiful and unique.

The hotel renovation included many interesting and attractive details. Our only disappointment was the lack of food service. We slept late and by the time we went for breakfast, the only food available was coffee. Fortunately there are many restaurants close-by, but we expected at least a continental breakfast to be available.

Really really good. Only complaint is that there was just decaf coffee in the room. We bought coffee from Poindexters but also like to make coffee in the room before going downstairs. We love Graduate Hotels and tell everyone about them. We will even consider going a particular place just to go to a Graduate hotel. We love Kimptons too but Graduate is our new favorite. It would be nice if Graduatecoffered a “frequent guest” program. We received a complimentary bottle of wine we were not expecting.

I recently stayed at The Graduate Hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. The highlight of my stay was Christina, the very kind and thoughtful Hotel Manager. She was incredibly informative about where to park our vehicle and provided clear directives, which made our arrival much smoother. However, it's important to note that there is no valet service at this hotel. The streets around the hotel are quite tight, so you will need to drive to a parking lot and walk back to the hotel. This wasn't a major issue, but it's something to be aware of if you have a lot of luggage or are arriving late at night. One thing to keep in mind is that the entrance of the hotel has stairs. If you haven't packed light, you'll find yourself lugging your baggage up a flight of steps to get to the main lobby. This can be a bit of a hassle if you're not prepared for it. Additionally, the hotel does not offer a free breakfast. The only breakfast option available consists of pastries that you can purchase. While they were tasty, I did miss having a more substantial breakfast included with my stay. On a positive note, all the staff at The Graduate were very kind and accommodating, which made my stay more enjoyable. The location is also a major plus, as it is conveniently situated within walking distance to Yale University, making it an excellent choice for anyone visiting the campus, and they accept pets which is a big plus.

The hotel has a classic and stylish interior, original and respecting Yale university’s heritage. I loved it, as you feel part of Yale’s legacy. Breakfast in the cafe downstairs was very limited, that’s the only minus.

Beautiful rooms both lobby and sleeping rooms. There is no parking and no help from staff. We arrived in the rain and had to park illegally come in and ask how to park and unload. The desk person said it was “self parking” which meant no parking. We eventually found a garage nearby and dragged our bad through the rain. No help getting up the stairs and no real concern or sympathy. Breakfast is pastries. If you ask they might tell you about yogurt and granola but they don’t volunteer that. Cute place to eat but again absolutely zero service or concern. And it’s not included. Despite being a pretty hotel we will not stay here again due to staff bring disinterested in guests. Not unfriendly just oblivious. They would probably get better results if someone bothered to train them in basic hospitality.

Lovely hotel, very quirky and chintzy decor in keeping with the historic Yale vibe. The staff were polite and helpful at times. On arrival I had two large suitcases and was disappointed to note that there was no option but to carry them up five or six concrete steps inside the hotel. There was a member of staff behind the desk, doing nothing, who watched me without at any point offering to help. Two lovely lady guests however gave me assistance. After an incredibly noisy and sleepless first night due to the ever present sound of motorcycles going up and down the main road, I asked to be moved to a quieter room. This couldnt be honoured as the hotel was apparently fully booked but on speaking to the manager he agreed to move me the following night. He did - after commenting that I was staying in a city so I should expect some noise (there is noise and then there is a complete lack of sound proofing) - offer me a white noise machine which I have to say was amazing and made it possible for me to stay in the same room for the duration of my stay. There is, however, clearly a noise issue with rooms in this hotel that face the main road. Had I done some more investigation it would have become clear that Chapel Street in New Haven is notorious for extremely loud traffic noise. Surely to provide a white noise machine without guests having to complain would be an idea. I will not stay here again due to these issues which is a shame as the hotel itself is quite charming.
