This review may seem like it is one of contradictions. Let me first say, the rooms are gorgeous, very spacious, very European in look and super comfortable. The hotel appears to be a work in progress. It is striving for a 4 or 5 star but still has work to do in the areas of a lobby and a lounge for guests. Right now it is occupied by a large group of digital nomads who work there. Cables run everywhere across the floors, every seat taken and the furniture is worn out and looks like a collection of "goodwill" pieces. The public bathrooms were dark, smelly and in need of cleaning. The staff, though, are super friendly and very eager to please.

Le Consulat's staff is fantastic! They were so accommodating and our room was absolutely beautiful. If you are a city-wanderer like we are, the location is absolutely perfect to walk to either the major sites, grab a taxi or Uber to the sites, or the public transportation. Please remember when booking that this is a historic building in Europe, so the elevator is very small just like every other elevator in historic building in Europe. We had a fantastic stay and loved all of the amenities Le Consulat had to offer! 5 Stars isn't enough!

Lovely hotel!!! Super spacious rooms nicely decorated, the small balconies overlooking the street are a plus! It has a bar on the 1st floor that’s also breakfast room and coworking space for none guests, they can come after breakfast which is better because can get very crowded. The hotel is right in front of a beautiful plaza, some days they had live music there and cable cars passing through nice photo opportunity. Tours will come to this location to pick you up, not every location is convenient for that.

Some maintenance work going on in the hotel so a bit of noise from 10am. Would stay again for short stay. Didn’t try food. Bar wasn’t open but looks like a nice space. Transport good outside. The hotel has a funky vibe with a very small lobby and reception area. However, when you get to your room, it's very modern, clean, and large with lots of amenities. The bar area is also very nice. A good value and location!

Great location and nice big room. We immediately had trouble with the Wi-Fi and the shower, so that was not a great first impression, but the staff tried to help. Tiny elevator and steps inside the room would probably be challenging for folks with mobility issues.

The front desk service was friendly but disorganized and not terribly helpful. Room was clean and spacious, but neighborhood is very noisy late into the night. The bar is run by a separate entity so you cannot charge to your room. When asked for baggage help in the early morning (6:30 am), the front desk informed us they are not open until 8 a.m. There are several stairs and 2 sets of doors to navigate after you exit the elevator with your baggage, so it was challenging.

We arrived all wet and bedraggled having traveled all day on a bus from Porto. We were upgraded to a lovely room which helped to sooth our weary bodies. The hotel was very clean, beautifully decorated with special amenities such as a yoga mat, bathrobes and slippers, and little cookies on a plate. We would stay here any time. Thank you.

Room smelled stale/damp/mouldy and bathroom reeked of sewage smell. Room was very loud from noises outside and people in the hallways - not well insulated/sound proofed. Building was pretty and location great - but that’s it. Staff also not helpful. When we checked in new years day the woman at the desk told us she didn’t want to be working (which was obvious). We arrived at 1:30 pm so a tiny bit early for check in after an over night international flight. Room was not ready and there was no apology or effort of any kind made. On top of that - it was raining and I asked to borrow an umbrella from the hotel and she just shrugged saying we could buy one “if a store was open”. No lobby or hotel facilities to wait inside in, and no help from staff meant we were turned out in the rain.

The location of Let Consulat was excellent. With a Team stop right at the steps of the hotel and loads of eateries. Everything is a short walk away including a laundromat. The actual inside of the hotel was beautiful, the decor and space was excelelnt. Our only issues was with the bathroom, there is no ventilation so the floors are full of mould. From the time we stepped foot into the room there was an overwhelming smell of sewerage. We had to close and fill the bath and sink with water and close the bathroom door, even then the smell was so so strong and made us quite nauseous. Pedro, the night staff who welcomed us was excellent. The gentleman that checked us out didn't help at all. We had our hands full with luggage and he was just chatting on his mobile with his friend. He didn't have the courtesy to open the heavy door for us. Just yelled "bye" as the door was closing behind us. Shame that the horrid smell and the last point of contact that we have with the hotel was this person.

I would have liked to give this property a higher score but our room smelled like sewage. When we asked about the smell, we were told it was just the building. Other than that, the gaff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and bar area was nice, and a great location. We felt very safe.

Great location. Lots of fun places to visit within 20 - 30 minutes of walking. (Be prepared for lots of steep cobbled strreets). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good (Continental style). Rooms were very clean and large. Shower/washroom was spotless. Bed was firm (my preference) and pillows were supportive (not soft). I would not recommend a car in inner Lisbon - parking is not very easy. The steep, cobbled, narrow streets can be very busy and if you're not used to driving in European cities, you will find this challenging!!!

Excellent location and the building itself is very historic as it’s the former Brazilian Consulate in Lisbon. The size of the room was huge for being in the middle of the European city. The breakfast is excellent and well worth it. The staff is also very accommodating and friendly. Only issue was we could not get the wi-fi to work at all during our 2 night stay. But lucky enough we both had good data plans on our phones. There was an also a very mild sewage smell coming from the sink, but nothing too bad or noticeable outside of a few week from the sink. Overall a great place to stay in Lisbon.

The location is great, and the staff is friendly and responsive. However, the room condition could be better. The layout was pretty bad, and the room was very cluttered and inconvenient. There was no proper desk. They could organize the current better by arranging them into built in closets rather putting them all on the ground. The room needs a proper desk. There wasn't even enough space to put a laptop on and work. For the money I paid, I was expecting a more comfortable room. The same thing applies to the bathroom.

The room in this hotel was spacious, however, the cable car was noisy as it was right outside the hotel. In addition, the guests in the room above us were very noisy later at night. This hotel is quite old, so the rooms were not insulated properly and the footsteps of the guests above us were very annoying.

Amazing building and large, well appointed rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Minor deduction for street noise, but is to be expected given the location. Especially good for public transit.

1. Room - we booked a budget double room which was a good size. We got one on the 2nd floor. The room above was making a lot of noise, floorboards creak as someone walks so that was annoying. There is a service room next door, and we could sometimes here the staff talking on phone, even once we had the smell of food coming into our room (via a shared door and thin plasterboard wall between service room and our bedroom?). AC was working on and off, we gave up. Would be good to have a kettle and some tea bags. 2. Property - well located with good connectivity to walking areas and sights. Hotel had no lobby to relax. They have a bar but you cannot sit there without ordering drinks or food. Very old building, beautifully decorated. But old floorboards mean lots of noise disturbance as one can hear people walking outside and even from room above. 3. Staff - warm, friendly, helpful

The staff here are remarkable! The location of this hotel is exactly where you would want to be. However, if you’re looking for sleep you might not get it. My experience at this hotel was exceptional from start to finish. I would like to extend special appreciation to Monica, whose outstanding professionalism and kindness truly stood out. After I inadvertently left my wedding rings in my room, she located them immediately, arranged secure shipment back to me, provided tracking information, and remained consistently responsive throughout the entire process. Her dedication and care were truly remarkable. The hotel itself is immaculate, and the staff is warm and welcoming. A very unique property that once was the Brazilian Consulate in Lisbon. It is the heart of great energy and history in Lisbon. Such a great way to start our trip. Risul at the front desk was an absolute professional and helped guide us through our visit and arrange an excellent driving tour of Sintra/Pena Palace. Would absolutely stay here again.

Room smelled stale/damp/mouldy and bathroom reeked of sewage smell. Room was very loud from noises outside and people in the hallways - not well insulated/sound proofed. Building was pretty and location great - but that’s it. Staff also not helpful. When we checked in new years day the woman at the desk told us she didn’t want to be working (which was obvious). We arrived at 1:30 pm so a tiny bit early for check in after an over night international flight. Room was not ready and there was no apology or effort of any kind made. On top of that - it was raining and I asked to borrow an umbrella from the hotel and she just shrugged saying we could buy one “if a store was open”. No lobby or hotel facilities to wait inside in, and no help from staff meant we were turned out in the rain.

The hotel location is perfect for travellers, close to Metro, trams and trains. Reception staffs, Ana and Dev were most helpful. Breakfast was very good and the host,Eliana, gave us good travelling tips. We definitely recommend this hotel.

We had an excellent stay in Lisbon. The 2 bedroom suite was perfect. The stay was pleasant and friendly. Jahid was amazing and helped us with our restaurant reservations and guided us with our excursions. Yudina in the breakfast room was wonderful. She was pleasant and went above and beyond to make our morning breakfast a wonderful experience. Fahim and Carla in reception were also very pleasant and friendly

The front desk service was friendly but disorganized and not terribly helpful. Room was clean and spacious, but neighborhood is very noisy late into the night. The bar is run by a separate entity so you cannot charge to your room. When asked for baggage help in the early morning (6:30 am), the front desk informed us they are not open until 8 a.m. There are several stairs and 2 sets of doors to navigate after you exit the elevator with your baggage, so it was challenging.

The main feature is the location. Next to a very popular square, Tons of restaurants and bars nearby, and a lot of the attractions can be done walking, if you are in good shape. There are a lot of hills. One the the main electric trams that is the most popular, #28, has the final stop right in front of it, which is very convenient.

The entrance to the hotel is small and funky the room itself was large. As far as amenities there is no alcohol service. The area around the hotel is very loud, smoky and crowded at night however if you walk up the hill there are several nice restaurants and bars. There is an excellent seafood restaurant a block away. Patinas Tania’s jazz club is exceptional with great staff drinks and music. Tapas bar 52 at the top of the hill is very good with great staff. There is an amazing speak easy fairly close that is behind a red door, just google speakeasy’s and you should find it

Incredible location. Could not have picked a better location for 5 nights in Lisbon. Close walking to shops, restaurants, metro, and with Tram stop right outside it couldn't have been easier. Staff was extremely helpful making our stay pleasurable.

We stayed for 6 nights, very spacious room (we got an upgrade as well), the reception team is so helpful and always checking with us if there is anything we need help with. The hotel is at an extremely convenient location, walking distance to most of the major attractions, and close to a metro station as well. Lots of restaurants around the area with a varieties of cuisines. Definitely recommend it and will stay there again when we return.

Nice location and cute room. Air conditioning does not cool very well and the whole place is extremely loud. Outside is loud and people outside the doors/hallways are loud. You can hear everything so that was a bit tough. The staff was very nice. Breakfast was not worth the cost and was not very good, limited options and expensive.

Fantastic hotel with beautiful rooms. Have stayed here twice and both times with a view to the great square outside. Gorgeous. The breakfast is not as good as 2023, but i heard it was new owners. To pay extra for youghurt and egg is a huge mistake. The hotel is situated perfectly.

Great location, staff were amazing, always willing to help in any way. The only disappointment was the very slow breakfast service. My breakfast took 40 minutes - there was only one server and he was doing his best, but couldn't keep up with the demand.

My wife being gluten free was offered (with notice) a lovely gluten free baguette and cakes for breakfast along with the fruits, hams, cheese and eggs and on a morning she was unwell and unable to get to the restaurant, a breakfast picnic was provided for her. Great location. Lots of fun places to visit within 20 - 30 minutes of walking. (Be prepared for lots of steep cobbled strreets). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good (Continental style). Rooms were very clean and large. Shower/washroom was spotless. Bed was firm (my preference) and pillows were supportive (not soft). I would not recommend a car in inner Lisbon - parking is not very easy. The steep, cobbled, narrow streets can be very busy and if you're not used to driving in European cities, you will find this challenging!!!

Great hotel, very central and nice size rooms for europe! Good linens. Rooms are a tad more tired in person and we did not get the room we had booked due to some last minute water damage but staff were very apologetic and helpful. Decent breakfast as well. Would recommend.

I loved the location and the staff, a beautiful old building. Two things bothered me the toilet with no sink on one side of the bed the shower no toilet on the other side of the bed. You were always walking back and forth. The floors very creaky, the people about us sounded like they had army boots on walking around until 1:30, the second night better but still heard walking around.

The 2 bedroom apartment was a perfect size. Having the water replenished and the daily cleaning was excellent. And while we didn’t spend much time in the bar, or do breakfast, it was good to know they were available. Would highly recommend.
