An amazing and comfortable stay in a beautiful location. Thank you so much to our host who went above and beyond to provide our family with everything we needed and more, including lifts to and from the station, fresh fruit & bread for breakfast, helped us with our laundry and more. We will cherish our memories staying in your lovely traditional home in Nikko. Thank you!

It was a fantastic experience to be able to stay in a traditional home for a few nights. Yoshiko made our stay so comfortable and provided advice on sightseeing, rides to and from the station, gave us snacks and breakfast food and did our laundry. What a treasure. We hope to go back!

Very well maintained and comfortable traditional home. Comfortable futon beds, large bathroom and kitchen. Perfect location to walk to the temples. Excellent host Yoshiko. She drove us from and to train station, did our laundry and brought us good food for breakfast. Absolute gem.

This traditional Japanese cottage was our favorite place to stay in Japan. All of the other places were hotels, and they were nice, but not like the FU-SHA cottage. The owners were deeply interested in making our stay wonderful. They went as far as to pick us up from the train station, (and drop us off at the end of our stay,) so we didn't have to take a bus to the cottage. The cottage was exactly as it was advertised. Very much like one would expect to live in a small Japanese town, with Tatami mats, futon mattresses to sleep on, a traditional Japanese bathroom and bath. This is not a place for glamorous living, but rather, it gives you the genuine feeling of living in a traditional way that the Japanese live. It was comfortable, quaint, charming, clean, and quiet. The owners had delicious snacks, bread, fresh fruit, and others things to eat and drink for us. They set up our beds at night, and were available anytime we needed them. The location of the cottage was very convenient to the shrines and temples in Nikko, as well as a variety of restaurants, shopping, and other points of interest. (Don't miss Kanmangafuchi Abyss. It was spectacular, and only about 5 minutes walk from the cottage.)

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would in a heartbeat. The house has all commodities (the hosts even offered to help us with the laundry since the washing machine was out of order), all rooms are spotless clean and the surroundings are incredible, albeit a bit far from Nikko station. The host was incredibly kind, making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. I really cannot recommend this place enough, and when I visit Nikko again, I will not even bother searching for a different stay.

The house has all commodities (the hosts even offered to help us with the laundry since the washing machine was out of order), all rooms are spotless clean and the surroundings are incredible, albeit a bit far from Nikko station. Lovely hostess very helpful and kind. Located near the Nikko Abyss a must see. A little off the beaten path in a very neighborhood. A traditional property with tatami mats and a great deep bathtub. Nikko Cottage FU-SHA is a delightful retro authentic Japanese accommodation experience. The very kind, helpful & friendly host picked us up from the train & dropped us back on our departure day. We found the cottage to be in a beautiful location in a residential area, with comfortable traditional Japanese beds, a room for our luggage, fully outfitted kitchen with breakfast foods provided. The bathroom was very large and well equipped. We walked to lovely local eating options of restaurants & cafes and walked to the World Heritage shrines and temples of Nikko, which together with their natural surroundings was an amazing experience. We loved our 2 nights in Nikko, which was not long enough, and will definitely return & would love to stay at the cottage again.

I would recommend this place as it is within walking distance of Nikko Toshogu Shrine and the bus stop in the neighborhood.

We had such a phenomenal stay at Fu-Sha Cottage. The owner Yoshiko is the real magic of this place; she went truly above and beyond and made our stay one of the best we had in Japan. She was communicative, helpful, and fun to be around. Her English wasn't perfect, but she really put in an earnest effort and we were able to communicate without too much of a problem. Yoshiko was even kind enough to pick us up from the train station and drive us a round to a few of the sights. She made a fantastic recommendation to a local restaurant one night, which we likely would have missed if we were traveling on our own. Her warmth and hospitality really made this stay special for us. The property itself is small but well appointed. It's in the traditional ryokan style and located in a quiet neighbourhood by the end of town. We walked into town and to the nearby temples without issue. I estimate it was about a 15 minute or so easy walk. Every morning Yoshiko had a nice little breakfast prepared for us including fresh bread, strawberries, yogurt, and teas. There was a washing machine there too, which we found helpful being on the road. We found the pillows quite hard at Fu-Sha (traditional pillows?), but it otherwise it was a lovely stay and one we will cherish. We would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a more authentic, local experience in Nikko. Thank you Yoshiko for your hospitality.

Propriétaire très présente (venue 4 fois) dans la soirée. Beaucoup d’interdiction. Logement très humide . Perdu au milieu de nul part ! Surprise qu’Expedia propose ce type de logement! C’est plutôt un mobil home qu’une maison . En plus il y a des insectes qui sentent mauvais type punaises des bois

Our group of three had a wonderful stay at Fu Cottage. Yoshiko’s warm and attentive hospitality truly made our visit special—she went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The location is excellent, with easy walking access to nearby shrines, local eateries, and charming sweet shops. If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese lodging experience, this cottage is a perfect choice. As it’s an older traditional building, we did encounter a few beetles inside, but it was minimal and didn’t detract from our stay. The cottage was well heated and felt cozy throughout our visit. Space-wise, it’s ideal for three adults; a fourth guest would be manageable, though a bit snug. Overall, I highly recommend Fu Cottage—it’s a charming, comfortable, and culturally rich place to stay during your time in Nikko.

This little place is great for exploring the nature side of Nikko as well as it’s shrines and historial spots! The house was warm, clean and it had a great variety for breakfast! We slept comfortably after a full day of activities. Convenient to the bus and other must-sees in Nikko! The host is more than gracious. She help us out in a time of need. She’s warm and very friendly. We were very grateful for her help. Don’t hesitate to stay at this place if your looking for a place to stay in Nikko!

We really enjoyed our time at the cottage. Our Hostess was fantastic and really is what drives the five star review. She went above and beyond from the first moment, ensuring we were picked up at the train station right through being dropped off again after refusing to call a cab and insisting on taking us herself! She also unexpectedly provided fresh bread for breakfast along with fruit and juice boxes. She was extremely easy to reach if we had any questions or issues and was always pleasant to deal with. The cottage is cute, with plenty of space for 2 to 4 people. Although slightly dated in some of its fixtures, everything was clean and futons were comfortable enough to allow us to sleep well. It's location is a little ways out of the main part of Nico but if you're looking for a quiet off the beaten path location, it really can't be beaten.

SNSで施設内の様子を確認しておりましたが、それ以上に室内は清潔感があり居心地も良かったです。 コロナ前はほとんどが外国人の方の利用だったそうで納得！ 当日の朝の急な予約にも関わらず朝食も用意して下さり、到着の時にはお部屋も暖かくして下さってました。 日光東照宮にも歩いて行ける距離で観光するには良いと思います。 私たちはコテージの様な所に宿泊した事がなかったので、設備や備品の確認は必要だったかな？と思いました。
SNSで施設内の様子を確認しておりましたが、それ以上に室内は清潔感があり居心地も良かったです。 コロナ前はほとんどが外国人の方の利用だったそうで納得！ 当日の朝の急な予約にも関わらず朝食も用意して下さり、到着の時にはお部屋も暖かくして下さってました。 日光東照宮にも歩いて行ける距離で観光するには良いと思います。 私たちはコテージの様な所に宿泊した事がなかったので、設備や備品の確認は必要だったかな？と思いました。

Our group of three had a wonderful stay at Fu Cottage. Yoshiko’s warm and attentive hospitality truly made our visit special—she went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The location is excellent, with easy walking access to nearby shrines, local eateries, and charming sweet shops. If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese lodging experience, this cottage is a perfect choice. As it’s an older traditional building, we did encounter a few beetles inside, but it was minimal and didn’t detract from our stay. The cottage was well heated and felt cozy throughout our visit. Space-wise, it’s ideal for three adults; a fourth guest would be manageable, though a bit snug. Overall, I highly recommend Fu Cottage—it’s a charming, comfortable, and culturally rich place to stay during your time in Nikko.

Very well maintained and comfortable traditional home. Comfortable futon beds, large bathroom and kitchen. Perfect location to walk to the temples. Excellent host Yoshiko. She drove us from and to train station, did our laundry and brought us good food for breakfast. Absolute gem.

This traditional Japanese cottage was our favorite place to stay in Japan. All of the other places were hotels, and they were nice, but not like the FU-SHA cottage. The owners were deeply interested in making our stay wonderful. They went as far as to pick us up from the train station, (and drop us off at the end of our stay,) so we didn't have to take a bus to the cottage. The cottage was exactly as it was advertised. Very much like one would expect to live in a small Japanese town, with Tatami mats, futon mattresses to sleep on, a traditional Japanese bathroom and bath. This is not a place for glamorous living, but rather, it gives you the genuine feeling of living in a traditional way that the Japanese live. It was comfortable, quaint, charming, clean, and quiet. The owners had delicious snacks, bread, fresh fruit, and others things to eat and drink for us. They set up our beds at night, and were available anytime we needed them. The location of the cottage was very convenient to the shrines and temples in Nikko, as well as a variety of restaurants, shopping, and other points of interest. (Don't miss Kanmangafuchi Abyss. It was spectacular, and only about 5 minutes walk from the cottage.)

We really enjoyed our time at the cottage. Our Hostess was fantastic and really is what drives the five star review. She went above and beyond from the first moment, ensuring we were picked up at the train station right through being dropped off again after refusing to call a cab and insisting on taking us herself! She also unexpectedly provided fresh bread for breakfast along with fruit and juice boxes. She was extremely easy to reach if we had any questions or issues and was always pleasant to deal with. The cottage is cute, with plenty of space for 2 to 4 people. Although slightly dated in some of its fixtures, everything was clean and futons were comfortable enough to allow us to sleep well. It's location is a little ways out of the main part of Nico but if you're looking for a quiet off the beaten path location, it really can't be beaten.

Lovely hostess very helpful and kind. Located near the Nikko Abyss a must see. A little off the beaten path in a very neighborhood. A traditional property with tatami mats and a great deep bathtub. We had such a phenomenal stay at Fu-Sha Cottage. The owner Yoshiko is the real magic of this place; she went truly above and beyond and made our stay one of the best we had in Japan. She was communicative, helpful, and fun to be around. Her English wasn't perfect, but she really put in an earnest effort and we were able to communicate without too much of a problem. Yoshiko was even kind enough to pick us up from the train station and drive us a round to a few of the sights. She made a fantastic recommendation to a local restaurant one night, which we likely would have missed if we were traveling on our own. Her warmth and hospitality really made this stay special for us. The property itself is small but well appointed. It's in the traditional ryokan style and located in a quiet neighbourhood by the end of town. We walked into town and to the nearby temples without issue. I estimate it was about a 15 minute or so easy walk. Every morning Yoshiko had a nice little breakfast prepared for us including fresh bread, strawberries, yogurt, and teas. There was a washing machine there too, which we found helpful being on the road. We found the pillows quite hard at Fu-Sha (traditional pillows?), but it otherwise it was a lovely stay and one we will cherish. We would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a more authentic, local experience in Nikko. Thank you Yoshiko for your hospitality.

Staying at Nikko Cottage Fu-Sha was a highlight of our trip to Japan. Yoshiko-san treated us as family members coming home for a visit. She picked us up from the train station, spent the evening chatting in Japanese with my teenager, helped us figure out our transportation to Kyoto, and met us at Nikko station with our luggage when it was time for us to depart.

Nikko Cottage FU-SHA is a delightful retro authentic Japanese accommodation experience. The very kind, helpful & friendly host picked us up from the train & dropped us back on our departure day. We found the cottage to be in a beautiful location in a residential area, with comfortable traditional Japanese beds, a room for our luggage, fully outfitted kitchen with breakfast foods provided. The bathroom was very large and well equipped. We walked to lovely local eating options of restaurants & cafes and walked to the World Heritage shrines and temples of Nikko, which together with their natural surroundings was an amazing experience. We loved our 2 nights in Nikko, which was not long enough, and will definitely return & would love to stay at the cottage again.

The Cottage provides an opportunity to live like a local. Yoshiko goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. She met us and took our luggage to her place so we could sight see for the day and brought us back to the station when we left. She offered very helpful advice for our itinerary and gave us insight on what life is like in Japan today.

Fantastic accommodation. She gave us a ride to the bus station and even met us in town to drop off our umbrellas we accidentally left at the cottage. Definitely would recommend and would absolutely stay again if we ever come back to Nikko

The location of the cottage was very convenient to the shrines and temples in Nikko, as well as a variety of restaurants, shopping, and other points of interest. (Don't miss Kanmangafuchi Abyss. It was spectacular, and only about 5 minutes walk from the cottage.)
This traditional Japanese cottage was our favorite place to stay in Japan. All of the other places were hotels, and they were nice, but not like the FU-SHA cottage. The owners were deeply interested in making our stay wonderful. They went as far as to pick us up from the train station, (and drop us off at the end of our stay,) so we didn't have to take a bus to the cottage. The cottage was exactly as it was advertised. Very much like one would expect to live in a small Japanese town, with Tatami mats, futon mattresses to sleep on, a traditional Japanese bathroom and bath. This is not a place for glamorous living, but rather, it gives you the genuine feeling of living in a traditional way that the Japanese live. It was comfortable, quaint, charming, clean, and quiet. The owners had delicious snacks, bread, fresh fruit, and others things to eat and drink for us. They set up our beds at night, and were available anytime we needed them. We absolutely loved staying at the cottage! Yoshiko is an incredible host, going above and beyond in every way to make sure you have a comfortable stay. She picked us up from the train station and dropped us off, and spent time explaining the history, culture, and sights to see in Nikko. The cottage is in the perfect location, quiet, near the Daiya river, and walkable to many shrines and cultural sites. It's also walkable to many delicious local restaurants! We would definitely stay here again, we have a friend in Nikko. Highly recommend!!

We really enjoyed our time at the cottage. Our Hostess was fantastic and really is what drives the five star review. She went above and beyond from the first moment, ensuring we were picked up at the train station right through being dropped off again after refusing to call a cab and insisting on taking us herself! She also unexpectedly provided fresh bread for breakfast along with fruit and juice boxes. She was extremely easy to reach if we had any questions or issues and was always pleasant to deal with. The cottage is cute, with plenty of space for 2 to 4 people. Although slightly dated in some of its fixtures, everything was clean and futons were comfortable enough to allow us to sleep well. It's location is a little ways out of the main part of Nico but if you're looking for a quiet off the beaten path location, it really can't be beaten.

It was so nice to stay in a neat little Japanese house and the pickup/dropoff from the train station by the host was very welcome. The house is in a great spot and easy walk to the main bus that takes you around all the Nikko sights to see. Its also an easy walk from some of the best temples. Loved it.

Great location, in a quiet part of the neighborhood and was able to walk to the sights and convenience store. The host was so helpful and communicative, she dropped me off at the train station and helped me with tickets! Highly recommended, I would stay here if I returned again :)

Nikko Cottage FU-SHA is a delightful retro authentic Japanese accommodation experience. The very kind, helpful & friendly host picked us up from the train & dropped us back on our departure day. We found the cottage to be in a beautiful location in a residential area, with comfortable traditional Japanese beds, a room for our luggage, fully outfitted kitchen with breakfast foods provided. The bathroom was very large and well equipped. We walked to lovely local eating options of restaurants & cafes and walked to the World Heritage shrines and temples of Nikko, which together with their natural surroundings was an amazing experience. We loved our 2 nights in Nikko, which was not long enough, and will definitely return & would love to stay at the cottage again.

If you want a local traditional experience, this stay does not disappoint. The house has everything you need and is located on a very quiet street away from the main roads. Only a 2 minute stroll to the river for som nature. As a bonus, the host will greet you at the train station and provide a ride or ferry your luggage back to the house while you venture off to the shrines. The host will also shuttle you back to the station when you depart. Special note: there aren’t many restaurants near to the house for evening dinner. So if you plan to walk the 20 minutes from the shrines to the house you will have the option of buying some groceries at the convenience store or check out the Suien Chineses restaurant a short distance from the house. The food and service was fantastic!

An amazing and comfortable stay in a beautiful location. Loved staying here, Yoshiko was so lovely, she went above and beyond to make us comfortable. She gave us fruits and snacks everyday, and even drove us to the train station at the end of our stay. We will definitely stay again when we come back to Nikko!

We had such a phenomenal stay at Fu-Sha Cottage. The owner Yoshiko is the real magic of this place; she went truly above and beyond and made our stay one of the best we had in Japan. She was communicative, helpful, and fun to be around. Her English wasn't perfect, but she really put in an earnest effort and we were able to communicate without too much of a problem. Yoshiko was even kind enough to pick us up from the train station and drive us a round to a few of the sights. She made a fantastic recommendation to a local restaurant one night, which we likely would have missed if we were traveling on our own. Her warmth and hospitality really made this stay special for us. The property itself is small but well appointed. It's in the traditional ryokan style and located in a quiet neighbourhood by the end of town. We walked into town and to the nearby temples without issue. I estimate it was about a 15 minute or so easy walk. Every morning Yoshiko had a nice little breakfast prepared for us including fresh bread, strawberries, yogurt, and teas. There was a washing machine there too, which we found helpful being on the road. We found the pillows quite hard at Fu-Sha (traditional pillows?), but it otherwise it was a lovely stay and one we will cherish. We would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a more authentic, local experience in Nikko. Thank you Yoshiko for your hospitality.

We loved our stay at this little cottage in Nikko. The hostess was so amazing to work with both before we arrived with advice on car rentals and once we got there with restaurants and things to do. She was even so kind as to help us book a reservation later on our trip that we couldn’t do on line. The fresh fruit for breakfast was very tasty and the home was on a quiet street and an easy walk to food and not too far to the main shrine area. We would be very happy staying there again.

I really enjoyed my stay at FU SHA Nikko Cottage. The host, Yoshiko, was friendly and very helpful. Yoshiko picked me up from the train station when I arrived in Nikko and dropped me off at the station when I departed. She provided me with maps and useful information on hiking in Nikko National Park. The cottage is small, comfortable and located a short walk from Toshogu temple, Rinnoji temple, and Futarasan shrine. Yoshiko provided bread, jam, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, and juice every morning for breakfast. The cottage is simple, comfortable, and I definitely recommend staying here as it’s good value for money.
