Aloe Vera Shared House

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at Aloe Vera. This is not really a typical hostel for tourists and travellers. Many people appear to live here permanently, so instead of feeling like you are on holiday, you often feel as if you are staying in someone else’s private home. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, especially the bathrooms. Food and drinks were taken from the shared fridge without my permission. The beach is indeed only about five minutes away, but nowhere in the listing is it clearly stated that it is a nudist beach, which I consider very important information for guests. The high stairs leading to the terrace are also very poorly lit. The whole place feels permanently chaotic, with cigarette ends and joints left around, and people coming and going who do not appear to be staying at the hostel but are friends of those running it. Smoking cannabis seems to be a constant part of the atmosphere. I also found the environment very uncomfortable. On several occasions, around 10 p.m., I was told that I was switching the corridor light on too often because it disturbed people who had to get up for work. This made me feel extremely unwelcome. The towels provided for guests also did not feel hygienic, as they appeared to be ordinary home-washed towels used by many people. I witnessed another British guest asking for a full refund, which says a lot. I would only recommend this place to people with very strong nerves who are comfortable with constant chaos,

Clean room. Staff all yung and brilliant fun

Fab stay at this hotel near the sea. Very friendly staff and good amenities. Handy for walk into El Medano (20 mins) or local beaches. Not far from airport either. Would recommend.
