This hotel situated very close walking distance for Longyearbyen’s shopping centre and restaurants. Inside the hotel tiny but very good Sushi restaurant there. I’m Japanese. I’ve never tasted good like this long time. Room itself was very comfortable and well equipped. Less clothes hangers but plenty of hooks and big shelves. There were 5 windows in our room. Bit struggled to close rolling blackout screens. TV control was little complicated but gradually found out how to operate. The room was very clean and room slippers were great.

I have never been to a hotel where you have to take your shoes off at the door. They do provide wool slippers in your room. The local custom dates back to when the coal miners were told to take their shoes off because they were so dirty. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was good. The room was fine. I would use this hotel again

In front of the town center (although there are some steps from the street). Staff is very helpful, room is clean, coffee/water service at the lobby, breakfast was also good. Very recommended.

Svalbard Hotell -The Vault was a perfect no-frills base for my six day visit to Svalbard, including each day an activity organised by Svalbard Adventures, with pick up and return from The Vault. The front door is open 24/7, with a usually young member of staff on reception. Access to the room is by code, with a comfortable bed, a very odd TV (which seemed to show the same programmes very day), and an excellent shower. My room did not have a desk, which was awkward. The black out blinds were effective. There was a full buffet breakfast every day in the breakfast room - which became a Sushi and Noodle restaurant in the evening. I tried it on my first evening, the huge menu was surptising given that all food is imported into Svalbard. Most days, except when on the excellent 6 hour glacier cruise, I had lunch in the popular Gruene Cafe, brilliant sandwiches, and interesting people (from 42 countries) to talk to. Evenings, except for the Wilderness Evening with Reindeer Soup, at the Stationen Restaurant opposite the Kronenbourg Pub, good hamburgers. Both a few minutes walk from The Vault.

I quite like The Vault’s relaxing casual style. Interior of the room is simple but modern twist. Once you used it, feel like home. I like reception area’s free tea and coffee self service. Flott rom med vinduer i flere høyder - hjørnerom som ga fantastisk utsikt. Bra frokost som ble til god sushi restaurant på kveldstid. Flere av de som jobbet i resepsjonen kunne spandert å hilse men et par var veldig hyggelig og behjelpelige.

The people were very friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet. I did ask for a room clean after 3 days and only the bed was made and bathroom wiped down, no clean sheets. It would have been helpful to understand there is a way around the bridge so we didn’t have to lug 50lb bags up and down 16 steps. The breakfast was a food safety horror show. Cold eggs, bacon, sausage, a food inspector’s nightmare. If inspected, it would be shut down.

Staff are welcoming and the breakfast is great. The hotel is in the town centre. But you need to walk a bit and go through a bridge between the airport shuttle bus stop to the hotel door. (Taxi can drive to the hotel door step. ) There is a grey dust spot on my quilt cover.

I had a fantastic stay at The Vault! The hotel is spotless, comfortable, and in an excellent location. The breakfast room was pretty small and cosy, but I had no issues finding a space, and the food was delicious! The staff were super friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, thank you for a wonderful trip!

Sehr nettes Personal, sehr gutes Frühstück. Zimmer und Bad sauber, alles Nötige vorhanden, aber das Zimmer eher klein. Gute Lage im Zentrum, dennoch ruhig; alle Geschäfte und Restaurants / Cafés im Umkreis.

Convenient spot and a comfortable room. The only real issue is the total absence of anywhere in the room to put things, except for hooks. There are so many spaces for shelves, but no, no shelves, nowhere for toothbrushes, nowhere for underclothes. A tiny shelf next to the bed with about 2 square inches of space. And instead of giving you solid tables, they give you soft ottomans, so you can stack clothes but nothing that requires a level base. That said, it's a nice clean convenient place.

Hotellet lå sentralt. Rommet vårt lå i første etg og rett ved personal-/vareinngang. En del forstyrrelser sent på kvelden da ansatte slamret med utgangsdøren. Ubehagelig at folk gikk rett utenfor vinduet vårt, når vi hadde vinduet oppe på natten. Vi fikk beskjed i resepsjonen om at vi ikke hadde rom før dagen ankomst. Vi kunne imidlertid vise til bekreftelse om at rommet var bestilt til rett dag. Fikk ikke noen beklagelse fra personalet om at de tok feil.
Hotellet lå sentralt. Rommet vårt lå i første etg og rett ved personal-/vareinngang. En del forstyrrelser sent på kvelden da ansatte slamret med utgangsdøren. Ubehagelig at folk gikk rett utenfor vinduet vårt, når vi hadde vinduet oppe på natten. Vi fikk beskjed i resepsjonen om at vi ikke hadde rom før dagen ankomst. Vi kunne imidlertid vise til bekreftelse om at rommet var bestilt til rett dag. Fikk ikke noen beklagelse fra personalet om at de tok feil.

Hun svenske resepsjonisten, service - minded, løsningsorientert, kom med gode råd og tips, fikk oss til å føle oss sett og verdsatt - hun fortjener skryt. Renhold - tipp topp! Frokost, savner noe varm mat, det som var «varmt» var kaldt og brød ferdig oppskjært gjør skivene svært tørre. Gull at man fikk kaffe/te/vann i resepsjonsområdet.

All the hotels in Svalbard are a little pricey, but this one is in the center of town, close to UNIS (the university center) and the shop, and it has a very nice breakfast. Best of all is the helpful and pleasant front desk people. The Vault offers dinner but didn't say anything about it when I checked in and have no obvious signs for it. Because I learned about it only when I left, I cannot judge it, though I can report that it is some kind of Asian fusion restaurant. But many restaurants are a very short walk away.

Staff are welcoming and the breakfast is great. The hotel is in the town centre. But you need to walk a bit and go through a bridge between the airport shuttle bus stop to the hotel door. (Taxi can drive to the hotel door step. ) There is a grey dust spot on my quilt cover.

I quite like The Vault’s relaxing casual style. Interior of the room is simple but modern twist. Once you used it, feel like home. I like reception area’s free tea and coffee self service. We went out then came back hotel and bit rest at ground floor sofa, then went back shopping again (shopping area is just opposite side of road). We requested same room as our last year’s stay. They gave us that room was very appreciated. The breakfast was reasonable spreads. Centre of Longyearbyen town, very handy for shopping and sightseeing.

The Vault is a great option in Longyearbyen. Rooms are comfortable and clean and new. Breakfast is excellent. And, like everything in Longyearbyen, the Vault is walking distance to everything.

The people were very friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet. I did ask for a room clean after 3 days and only the bed was made and bathroom wiped down, no clean sheets. It would have been helpful to understand there is a way around the bridge so we didn’t have to lug 50lb bags up and down 16 steps. The breakfast was a food safety horror show. Cold eggs, bacon, sausage, a food inspector’s nightmare. If inspected, it would be shut down.

Flott rom med vinduer i flere høyder - hjørnerom som ga fantastisk utsikt. Bra frokost som ble til god sushi restaurant på kveldstid. Flere av de som jobbet i resepsjonen kunne spandert å hilse men et par var veldig hyggelig og behjelpelige.

Great location. Friendly staff. Rooms comfortable. Breakfast buffet was acceptable. For you to know: they only promote excursions from one company since the hotel is apparently owned by the excursion company. Go to Visit Svalbard website or local office to review all available excursion opportunities.

I had a fantastic stay at The Vault! The hotel is spotless, comfortable, and in an excellent location. The breakfast room was pretty small and cosy, but I had no issues finding a space, and the food was delicious! The staff were super friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, thank you for a wonderful trip!

The price is a little on the high side but the location is excellent right across the street from the shops and the bus stop. You could not pick a better location. The staff is amazing. My room was so spacious. The windows were dirty so I did not have a clear view. The beds were comfortable. I would stay again for one night. I stayed at the Radisson Blu before my trip they had cookies in the room which was a nice touch, I had expected something similar based on my experience with Radisson but not at hotels are the same.

This hotel get 4 out of 5 stars as an objection to all hotels in Longyearbyen. There is no reason why they are so high-priced except that they can get away with it. The Vauilt is not quite as bad as most of the other hotels on this count. Now for what a traveler might want to know.... The free breakfast is excellent. The room doubles as a sushi restaurant at night. As a sushi restaurant, I would give them a B. The location is in the heart of town (both blocks). The staff is incredibly helpful. The rooms come with blackout drapes for those that need them. They are very clean, as are the bathrooms, but there is no desk so computer work is difficult. I have stayed here before and will again.
