The property is very well kept, and Brian and his wife were the best hosts! The location and view are amazing, the made-to-order breakfast was unmatched! What really made it a memorable family vacation for us was Brian's warm and welcoming nature. He gave us great recommendations, provided us with water gear, shared history about the area, and even helped us with our last minute laundry! Would definitely recommend everyone to stay here while in Hilo!

We were looking for a place to stay for one night in the Hilo area, when I came across Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B. We chose a room that was truly oceanfront, with panoramic views of Hilo Bay and amazing ocean breezes. The service was great, and there were lots of extras available at all times, like snacks, coffee & tea, and bottled water. The made-to-order breakfast at 6:30 am was icing on the cake. We will definitely return!

We chose an ocean front room. It’s large, with a cozy dark wood vibe, and has a perfect reading nook in earshot of the surf. Parking is a good size and the host offers nice details like water and other beverages.

This is an excellent place, the room was very clean, the breakfast was wonderful and tasty and there was bottled water, snacks and alcohol available for all guests. The only issue for us was Hilo town had lots of homeless. Walking into town from the bed and breakfast you had to walk in some bad areas. The second night we were there we just drove into town. Otherwise it is an excellent place to stay.
This is an excellent place, the room was very clean, the breakfast was wonderful and tasty and there was bottled water, snacks and alcohol available for all guests. Very nice early 1900's building. Not much to look like from the outside. But, don't be fooled. EXCELLENT service. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. Our room (Suite #6) had a private bathroom (it's likely all of their rooms have private bathrooms). Perfectly clean. The made-to-order breakfast was outstanding. We had a beautiful fruit plate, omelet, special macadamia nut pancakes, bacon, coffee and juice. WONDERFUL!!! Unfortunately, we had to catch an early morning flight and weren't able to enjoy a breakfast on our second (final) morning. The location of the property is literally right on the water. We listened to the waves breaking all night. They also have snacks, delicious local bananas and bottled water available 24/7. They also have beach towels, boogie boards, binoculars, etc. available for guests to use. They have literally got you covered for ANYTHING you need. Highly recommend!

Lovely restored home. Very nice owner and sweet (I believe Japanese) lady prepared and cooked our breakfast. Lots of snacks and refreshments. We were allowed to use an area in the fridge. No amenities in room but, everything we would want or need was just outside our door. Would love to stay again!

The three of us were very comfortable in suite 1 with the little twin window bed. The sound of the ocean drowned out the songs of the coqui frogs. It was a great location to see the sights on the Hilo side. The breakfast was amazing: fresh fruit, French toast or coconut pancakes, eggs to order, and juice. They have a little cabinet with first aid items and extra sunscreen.The hosts were caring and thoughtful. Would definitely recommend this place!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B for 2 nights in March 2023. Brian and Tomomi were excellent hosts and guides. The breakfasts were great with lots of options (french toast, pancakes, eggs any way, bacon, fruit). We asked for suggestions for dinner and Brian suggested Jackie Rey's (we ended up going twice it was so good). We were also offered snorkeling equipment and I was able to swim with turtles and beautiful fish at the black sand beach (also recommended by Brian). The downtown area is a short walk and there are wonderful parks (Hilo beachfront park, Lili'uokalani Gardens and Coconut Island) a little further away. If we make it to Hilo again, we will stay here without question!

This historic property hovers right on the edge of Hilo Bay in a quiet, residential area. Brian and Tomomi take excellent care of the house and the guests. Tomomi provided hot breakfast a little later than usual because of our long nights at Merrie Monarch, and we received fresh towels every day. The fans kept the room comfortable. All kinds of snacks and other supplies are available for the taking. The ocean waves rolled just a few feet away from our windows. We will be back!

Owners really nice. Breakfast great! Cleanliness no, towels I wouldn’t dry my car with, sheets horrible. Little things like awesome towels and a higher cotton count on sheets make an overnight experience so much nicer

The house and our ocean side room was extremely clean and the ocean view from our window was amazing. The only outdoor gathering place was on the front porch or an outdoor table whereby there was constant traffic noise. The breakfast was just a normal breakfast with nothing special about it. The little fruit they provided was laid out on a flat dish and was nothing like their website pictures. I guess we were a bit spoiled from the B&B we stayed at the previous week (at the same price) whereby the breakfast and grounds were truly amazing.

Our host was super friendly and helpful. He suggested some local spots to check out. They also allowed us to check in early which was nice. I can't overstate how beautiful this house is. I was immediately struck by the cleanliness and the old-feel of the house itself. Our room was beautiful and felt extremely comfortable and clean. My only regret is we only spent one night here! Mahalo

This is really a nice place to stay. The view outside the room is amazing! There’s no doubt that I would like to stay here again. Very nice and friendly host. Awesome experience to live here, it is like live in home, and the room is well-decorated and clean. The host is so nice and if you need a ride to the airport, you can schedule with them. Also, they will prepared you breakfast between 6am to 9am.

Lovely example of an old Hawaiian house. Beautiful location on the bay close to downtown. Our room was charmingly decorated, comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and very accommodating.

An amazing character building! It was wonderful for the hosts to meet us in the parking lot when we arrived, took our bags and gave us a tour of where everything we might need was. Breakfast was excellent. The bedroom was huge and beautiful. Our only quibble was the front room was close to the main road so quite noisy. Thanks for being great hosts and for a great stay !

This is a lovely old house right on the water that has been refurbished into a six room b&b. The owners are extremely helpful and attentive. The room is lovely. Food is good. Had to wear earplugs to overcome the nighttime noises of pounding surf and tree frogs, but not much you can do about that. And they couldn’t do much about the rain, either, which poured buckets nonstop the entire three days we stayed! They have plans to expand landscaping to include a pool and hot tub, which would be very welcome. Thank you, Cheryl, Brian, et al, for a lovely stay!

I don't know why other people gave such a great review. The room is very basic and overpriced. No tv and no air conditioning. The room was very warm and had to sleep with the fans running on high. The breakfast was ok and that was the best part of the stay. I would not stay here again. Very overpriced.
I don't know why other people gave such a great review. The room is very basic and overpriced. No tv and no air conditioning. The room was very warm and had to sleep with the fans running on high. The breakfast was ok and that was the best part of the stay. I would not stay here again. Very overpriced.

Our host was super friendly and helpful. He suggested some local spots to check out. They also allowed us to check in early which was nice. I can't overstate how beautiful this house is. I was immediately struck by the cleanliness and the old-feel of the house itself. Our room was beautiful and felt extremely comfortable and clean. My only regret is we only spent one night here! The property is very well kept, and Brian and his wife were the best hosts! The location and view are amazing, the made-to-order breakfast was unmatched! What really made it a memorable family vacation for us was Brian's warm and welcoming nature. He gave us great recommendations, provided us with water gear, shared history about the area, and even helped us with our last minute laundry! Would definitely recommend everyone to stay here while in Hilo!

Booked this room thru Expedia 10 minutes before showing up at the place. We were warmly greeted by the owners and they assisted us in taking our luggage in. They let us chose between the 2 rooms they had available. They were amazing hosts. They offered us hot and cold beverages and snacks. They even drove us into town and dropped us off. The rooms and the views were gorgeous. Great breakfast in the morning and they even sent us away with fresh baked banana bread they made that morning when we left. Can't wait to come back again.

This historic property hovers right on the edge of Hilo Bay in a quiet, residential area. Brian and Tomomi take excellent care of the house and the guests. Tomomi provided hot breakfast a little later than usual because of our long nights at Merrie Monarch, and we received fresh towels every day. The fans kept the room comfortable. All kinds of snacks and other supplies are available for the taking. The ocean waves rolled just a few feet away from our windows. We will be back!

Beautiful location. Listening to the waves at night was so peaceful. The staff is super friendly and helpful with suggestions. The daily breakfast was delicious. You have to get the pancakes. Everything you could ask for in a B&B and more. We will definitely stay here again if traveling to Hilo.

I would just like to thank the hosts for making our stay the most hospitable one by far. It was a peaceful and restful stay where we fell asleep and woke up to the sound of waves. My wife and I appreciate the care shown to us during our stay, for allowing us to check in early after a terrible experience we had in another hotel the night before. I highly recommend this place, conveniently located within close proximity to all amenities, food options, beach and the airport.

What a wonderful surprise this little B&B was. We truly hated to leave. The room was just spectacular being right on a little cliff above the ocean. The hosts were so accommodating and the breakfasts were very good. The room was clean and the area quiet. We can't wait to go back.

An amazing character building! It was wonderful for the hosts to meet us in the parking lot when we arrived, took our bags and gave us a tour of where everything we might need was. Breakfast was excellent. The bedroom was huge and beautiful. Our only quibble was the front room was close to the main road so quite noisy. Thanks for being great hosts and for a great stay !

The house and our ocean side room was extremely clean and the ocean view from our window was amazing. The only outdoor gathering place was on the front porch or an outdoor table whereby there was constant traffic noise. The breakfast was just a normal breakfast with nothing special about it. The little fruit they provided was laid out on a flat dish and was nothing like their website pictures. I guess we were a bit spoiled from the B&B we stayed at the previous week (at the same price) whereby the breakfast and grounds were truly amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B for 2 nights in March 2023. Brian and Tomomi were excellent hosts and guides. The breakfasts were great with lots of options (french toast, pancakes, eggs any way, bacon, fruit). We asked for suggestions for dinner and Brian suggested Jackie Rey's (we ended up going twice it was so good). We were also offered snorkeling equipment and I was able to swim with turtles and beautiful fish at the black sand beach (also recommended by Brian). The downtown area is a short walk and there are wonderful parks (Hilo beachfront park, Lili'uokalani Gardens and Coconut Island) a little further away. If we make it to Hilo again, we will stay here without question!

Very nice early 1900's building. Not much to look like from the outside. But, don't be fooled. EXCELLENT service. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. Our room (Suite #6) had a private bathroom (it's likely all of their rooms have private bathrooms). Perfectly clean. The made-to-order breakfast was outstanding. We had a beautiful fruit plate, omelet, special macadamia nut pancakes, bacon, coffee and juice. WONDERFUL!!! Unfortunately, we had to catch an early morning flight and weren't able to enjoy a breakfast on our second (final) morning. The location of the property is literally right on the water. We listened to the waves breaking all night. They also have snacks, delicious local bananas and bottled water available 24/7. They also have beach towels, boogie boards, binoculars, etc. available for guests to use. They have literally got you covered for ANYTHING you need. Highly recommend!

You’ll be surprised how fast you will get used to not having an AC. Fans and open windows work, but bring sleep mask and earplugs, because coqui frogs get loud in front of the house and in seafront rooms you’ll have those screened windows open. Owners made us feel truly welcomed.

Das Haus ist gemütlich eingerichtet das gleiche gilt für das Zimmer. Wir wurden gleich freundlich von den Mitarbeitern empfangen. Wir konnten als Gast den großen Kühlschrank mit benutzen um Getränke zu kühlen. Das Frühstück war abwechslungsreich und man bekam immer einen Teller mit etwas Obst aus dem Garten. Und dazu die tolle Aussicht auf den Ozean.
Das Haus ist gemütlich eingerichtet das gleiche gilt für das Zimmer. Wir wurden gleich freundlich von den Mitarbeitern empfangen.
