Cheap and cheerful stay at the Annex - the dormatory style accommodation. Basic but clean, other than the inside of the kettle was full of black flakes of scale and the filter was missing, so you wouldn't want to make a cup of tea using it. Very friendly staff. The walls are very thin, and there was a lot of noise from other guests so if you're a light sleeper you may struggle. It was fit for purpose for my stay, which was just a single night before doing Parkrun the following morning - which you can't get more convenient a location than with this place! The proper hotel rooms would likely be far more suitable for a weekend away type of trip. Two onsite car charging spaces - bring your own cable.

The room smelt of damp, very noisy during the night from doors but also systems in the annexe like a boiler possibly? Someone had left the main building door open that I shut at 12am so security could be better in the annexe! Breakfast was ok. Alright for 1 night but very basic. Nice room , ok breakfast. Most of staff friendly. Room 3 can hear all noise from reception and staff banging doors throughout night , auto light flashes on and off in corridors shines through bottom of door. Around £10 in uber to town centre. Would we stay again.. yes but would ask not to have room 3 even though it is a nice clean room. Just too much noise from reception

This is a very basic hotel but if you take it for what it is, it’s great! Clean rooms, nice showers with good pressure. Beds are okay but the pillows could have been better. Okay breakfast. For the price, it’s great value!

The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and tidy, the bed was comfy and warm as well. There was not a huge variety for breakfast; just cereals, toast and cooked breakfast options but was hearty and filling which set us up well for a day of walking around the city. We found the automatic light in the bathroom a bit annoying at night when going for a pee as it stays on for a while. We had some issues with our breakfast orders being received for the following day but the staff sorted this out on the day without any issues. The location was good a 20-25 mins walk into the city, or on the no 4 bus route if you are not so energetic. The site was next to the stables of the racecourse which added some interest. There are a couple pubs very close by which gives good options for dinner, and a convenience store down the road for more light lunch/snack options. Nothing to be wowed by here however it was, overall, a basic but comfortable stay for those who don't mind a bit of walking to the city.

Cheap and cheerful stay at the Annex - the dormatory style accommodation. Basic but clean, other than the inside of the kettle was full of black flakes of scale and the filter was missing, so you wouldn't want to make a cup of tea using it. Very friendly staff. The walls are very thin, and there was a lot of noise from other guests so if you're a light sleeper you may struggle. It was fit for purpose for my stay, which was just a single night before doing Parkrun the following morning - which you can't get more convenient a location than with this place! The proper hotel rooms would likely be far more suitable for a weekend away type of trip. Two onsite car charging spaces - bring your own cable.

Nice room , ok breakfast. Most of staff friendly. Room 3 can hear all noise from reception and staff banging doors throughout night , auto light flashes on and off in corridors shines through bottom of door. Around £10 in uber to town centre. Would we stay again.. yes but would ask not to have room 3 even though it is a nice clean room. Just too much noise from reception

Good value for money . Spacious , clean room. Very good breakfast Only minor issue was the tv remote control and a number of bathroom lights didnt work but that didnt cause us any problems

The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and tidy, the bed was comfy and warm as well. There was not a huge variety for breakfast; just cereals, toast and cooked breakfast options but was hearty and filling which set us up well for a day of walking around the city. We found the automatic light in the bathroom a bit annoying at night when going for a pee as it stays on for a while. We had some issues with our breakfast orders being received for the following day but the staff sorted this out on the day without any issues. The location was good a 20-25 mins walk into the city, or on the no 4 bus route if you are not so energetic. The site was next to the stables of the racecourse which added some interest. There are a couple pubs very close by which gives good options for dinner, and a convenience store down the road for more light lunch/snack options. Nothing to be wowed by here however it was, overall, a basic but comfortable stay for those who don't mind a bit of walking to the city.

Enjoyed my two night stay here. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good. I was in a single room without en suite, which I’m not used to, so the shared shower and toilet facilities were another experience for me but it was OK. I’m used to a large double bed (think “en suite Travelodge”) so the small bed wasn’t as comfortable but adequate. Unfortunately the walls are a bit thin and I could hear every word of my neighbour on the phone (including the other person on loudspeaker!) plus the people in the corridor were noisy at all hours. A good setting and on a bus route into the city centre so I could leave my car parked up for a couple of days. Very useful. Might stay again because of the price👍

This is a great place to stay on a trip to York. It is so well placed for the city centre-lots of buses go past or you can walk (30 minutes). Prices are much more reasonable than other hotels in the area. I stayed in a single room in the annexe which was basic but comfortable. I never saw anyone else in the shared bathroom. Breakfast was great and the complimentary coffee machine is a bonus. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. This was my second stay and hopefully it won't be my last.

This is a good location- only about 5 stops on the bus into York. It has plenty of safe parking. We stayed in the Annexe and it was mostly quiet apart from one night- coming from the "Day Girls" Room? - opposite the Ladies Shower Room/toilets- staff? We had to ask them to turn the noise down at 1 in the morning. But, really, it's a good place. There are 2 really good pubs within a few minutes walk- for eating and drinking. The breakfast room is light and airy and the staff were really nice and friendly. Good value for money- for York- would recommend.
