Holiday Inn Express - Grand Island by IHG

The location for our regular visits to see family on and near Grand Island is the most attractive feature of this hotel. It is the best option on Grand Island. Ice maker on floor #2 needs fixing though.

Pool was very warm which was nice.

The pros: Nice rural setting. We saw a mama deer and twins on 2 evenings, as well as a bald eagle. The hotel is older but clean. King suite was roomy. Bed comfortable. Would have preferred a tub but I think most HIE rooms have showers. Nice water pressure. The pool was warm and the area clean. No towels, had to go ask the desk clerk. The cons: Absolute A-hole of a desk clerk working night shift. Never at the desk. Doesn’t answer phone. Rude when you do finally get eyes on him. Argued with my husband about giving us pillows for the pullout bed. He was there every night. The electric strip and outlet by my bed did not work. Annoying for phone charging. The drunks coming up and down the elevator from the bar on the 4th floor are probably fun if you enjoy drinking and having access to a rooftop bar at your hotel but less so on a family trip. The worst thing about this place is THE ICE MACHINES ARE ALL BROKEN ON EVERY FLOOR! And looking back in reviews they are in no hurry to fix them. Jerk at desk told my husband you have to go to the 4th floor. Little does he expect the elevator opens straight into a bar full of drunks. He has to go up to the bar and wait for the miserly bar tender to give him half a bucket of ice. He said I can’t have a full bucket? She said no that’s all we have. We ended up buying ice. Other than that it’s not a bad place to stay. Some might not like the Grand Island location and bridge toll but I thought it made the vacay spot more exotic.

Only complaint was shower hardware was in pretty rough working condition and elevator did not work well at all. It rested on floor 3 rather than the lobby floor and took forever to come down even when no one was using it. Breakfast staff was really friendly.

I like the looks of Holiday Inns. It was the perfect area to get around. There needs to be some upgrades. The road and parking lots need repaving

Very friendly staff. Large room that had a seperate sitting area with a desk. Breakfast was included and above average. Could use more parking spaces, had to park in a lot somewhat away from the hotel...

Other then only 1 working ice machine had a wonder Stay Hugh breakfast. Had so many different things to choose from loved it

It was ok just disappointed half the outlets didn’t work and the tub was dated and had mold.

Liked everything about the hotel. The room was clean but there was a musty smell. Not sure why. Only thing didn’t like Housekeeping only took out the trash. The beds were not made. Overall liked the hotel.

None of the outlets or usb ports worked in room 205 and the room was not vacumed. The air conditioner did not cool room. Staff was unconcerned.

Check-in was a breeze. The desk and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. The beds, showers, and bathrooms were spacious and very clean. The room and the halls smelled fresh. The area is away from everything but it was quiet and peaceful. I would stay here again.

The property feels new and is well-maintained. The rooms are spacious, and the front desk staff is both friendly and courteous. Breakfast offers a good variety, and the location is just a 10-minute drive from Niagara Falls and major attractions. Overall, a great value for money.

The restaurant upstairs was fun, especially on Karaoke night. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We did find a bedbug the first night but staff moved us to another room for that night, then to another handicap accessible room the next morning, and took one day of charges off as compensation.

The carpet in our room had a lot of big spots on it otherwise the room was clean. Lighting in the room was a little different with dark spots. Breakfast was good except they only had one little toaster for 50 people and the coffee machines couldn’t keep up with the amount of people at times.

Great hotel to stay. Clean, staff is friendly and huge spacious and well maintained rooms.

The USB ports for charging devices were all skewed, the power outlets were lose. I had to rely on my car to charge up my phone. Other than that, it was a good place.

The air conditioning did not work. We asked for the unit to be fixed and it was for a few hours and then quit again blowing warm air into the room. The result was a poor night's sleep.

Needed a room for the night while our home was being staged for an open house. Room was spacious and clean. Initial room's wall AC unit was not cooling the room but we were moved to a larger room with a working unit. Kids enjoyed the pool. The food at the Burrata restaurant was disappointing and the free breakfast was satisfying enough. Overall it was a good option to have available close to home to accommodate us in a pinch.

Don't pay the extra for a "balcony". There isn't a balcony, there is a small section off each room on the FIRST FLOOR that doesn't even have a railing to keep people from walking onto it from the parking lot. Anyone can help themselves to your "private balcony".

Hotel was clean. Breakfast was great. My only complaint is that several outlets in the room (both by bed) were so worn out that it wouldn't hold a plug so we could not charge anything. Other than that, stay was great!

It was perfect! We had a spacious room with a king-size bed. Very comfortable and wonderfully clean.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Lobby big, open area, free freshly ground coffee. Hige spacious rooms with comfortable beds.

Most Outlets in the room didn’t work only 2 did shower door wouldn’t stay closed other than that it was fine

Very happy with the cleanliness of this hotel. Will stay they again. Also, the honesty! We left our wallets behind in the room and they were found by the cleaner and they immediately called me to let me know. I was an hour away heading home but turned around to go get them. Very fortunate in today’s world that they were found and returned safely, a huge shout out to Kelly for finding them!

So, first of all Jamal who checked us in did an amazing job. He was the best part of the stay. The worst partly was returning to our room at 9pm on Saturday night and finding our door open and unlocked. Apparently when they gave us some towels and pulled up our blankets they left the lock open and the door ajar. So, would NOT recommend staying here unfortunately.

Never again will I stay at this hotel and I suggest others do the same. I wasn’t aware when I booked about the previous bad reviews but I should have looked because we experienced the same thing. When I got in there was no service desk receptionist so I had to call a number. I called the number said I was there to check in, and the dude hung up on me. He comes out I have my license down on the desk for verification, he checks me in, and then I have to pay a $25 security deposit- so I go to use my Apple Pay and this man rudely said “ PAY RIGHT THERE” “USE YOUR CARD, ITS RIGHT THERE” if it wasn’t 2:30 in the morning I would have told him to kiss my ass and checked in somewhere else but I didn’t. I remained calm and just said sir, that is my license and I’m paying it on my Apple Pay. Paid the fee he gave me my room key and that was that. They are NOT polite to their guest which seeing how we are the ones giving them business they’d be a little more polite. Not the case at this hotel. I’ve never been spoken to by a front desk staff at hotel. Absolutely horrible experience do not book here!

The staff was wonderful ! Jamal the front desk clerk was so nice to all our family. He really made us feel welcome. The rest of the staff was very kind as well. The beds were very comfortable and so were the linens. The bathroom was nice and clean. Plenty of parking. The surrounding were quiet as well. The breakfast was good with plenty of variety. The coffee machine in the lobby was a great bonus.

Excellent breakfast. Excellent staff and superior service from Jamal, Tina and Janay. Also superior service from the people that ran the breakfast in the morning, everything was stocked and clean and they were very nice people.

The Desk clerks (EXCEPT FOR JAMAL) that had answers questions regarding the city, area was JAMAL. We ask about shopping, a mall in the area, he actual got up went and got us a map, detailed on the map exactly where the Mall was. We came back from Niagra Falls, ask the lady and the man, is they could recommend a good restaurant that served fish, the female desk clerk barely open her mouth, she shook her head "no", the male desk clerk replied," I don't eat fish". We didn't ask if he ate fish. The room was ok; Housekeeping needs to pick up cigarette butts from the patio and be sure that the bathroom floor is free from hair. Maybe Jamal should teach his co-workers how to treat the Guests.

Great and quiet place to stay and comparatively quick access to the falls at a great price. Not much shopping places nearby is the only downside

It was a family trip to visit Niagara Falls. Loved our stay with clean and decent size room for a family of 4, a couple and 2 kids. We really enjoyed morning breakfast offered. Only one thing I realized is location is little outskirts. I felt having a car is a must.

It was a nice stay for visiting Niagara Falls. The location was close enough to the State Park, but quite. I would stay here again.

location ideal for the Falls

The BEST option by far, CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN. The only hotel in the area that doesn’t cut any corners. Free breakfast, Free parking, very clean, very quiet. And only 10 mins from the falls. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Niagara Falls.

Pretty clean and quiet place to be. The restaurant on the top of the roof. The only downside is not even a distance from the falls but the toll on thr bridge to and from it.

Great hotel- clean and great staff! We come to watch our son play for SUNY Niagara at Sal Mag stadium, so it’s convenient for us. 5-7min away. Price is a bit high for being so far from Falls. lol!

Nice rooms and facility, but in an area with nothing around it.

Stayed here during a one night trip to Niagara Falls. It was about 5 miles from the falls, which worked for us. The room was spacious.The sheets were clean, the hot water was hot, the Keurig in the room was a nice touch.Front lobby staff we're friendly. Our only complaint was the kitchen staff could not keep up with the mediocre continental breakfast demand in the morning. Items ran out and were not refilled.

Property was very clean and staff in hotel friendly. Breakfast was best continental I’ve seen and well staffed. Do not recommend the Burrata at top of hotel. The staff are not nice, food was expensive and not worth it. Missed half the order.

Hotel is nice, till you get to the room… Water dripped outta shower head when trying to use… Contacted the front desk was told they don’t have maintenance at 6pm on a Thursday and it was never looked at… Tried the roof top Bistro horrible food, got pizza and wings took over a hr for our food to come out and was all brought out at different times pizza came out and 15 minutes later 10 wings came out 5 minutes later the rest of the wings came out… While this is a roof top restaurant it was open to the public to sit outside as half of the rooftop area was being replaced… Hotel room had the worse smell of skunk… Breakfast was cold, to the point was not edible… Will never return… Definitely not worth the amount of money that was charged

We really enjoyed the rooftop area. It was a lovely place to relax after a long day and family friendly. Food was good too!

Breakfast was great

First thing I noticed when I walked in was how good it smelled. So fresh and fragrant. The staff was so extremely nice. Breakfast was fantastic with so many options. Will definitely only be staying at holiday inns going forward!
