Exactly what you need, no frills, non aesthetic, the pool area was nice but there’s hardly anywhere to lounge in the immediate area if there are more than six people there. Nice large suite, however there was so much space in the living room area you’d think they put homier furniture in there, the couch was really uncomfortable and noisy to sit on. It’s absolutely not a reasonable piece of furniture to have in this space. The beds however were really comfortable and I slept great. Every staff person I encountered was extremely friendly and kind.

Jessica at desk is very helpful & cleaning staff friendly. Bathroom lacked towel rack & grab bar in shower. Swimming pools are clean & plenty of patio furniture. 1 long block from beach.

My daughter had a rugby tournament at the fields two blocks away. This property was perfect for our needs and beaching it. We also enjoyed the nearby Icona dining options within walking distance. Sunsets on the bay side were beautiful. The pool was clean and a great temperature.

All staff we dealt with were super friendly especially at check in. It was all so easy. They let us park hours before check in and texted us while we were enjoying the beach thay our room was ready! Kids had a good time in the pool every day. We will absolutely be back.

The proximity to the beach was a plus. Clean and well appointed. Indoor and outdoor pools were nice. With the nightly pricing being quite high, so were my expectations, which were pretty well met.

Clean, comfortable, and a perfect place to stay if you’re visiting for a few days. The room came with a kitchenette and a sitting area. Sadly, we were only there for one night. The bed was so comfortable I fell asleep immediately. Lovely stay.

We stayed in a suite a block away from the beach. Beach tags were provided, which was a nice perk. The location was a long walk from Stone Harbor’s main drag but driving there or to Avalon is no problem. The room was clean, service was fine. The main concerns were with the bathroom, which had no towel bar or grab bar.

The Desert Sands is very nice. This is not our first time, and we enjoyed every time we stayed there. The location and facilities are excellent. We especially noticed that he staff was very courteous and supportive. We did have an issue with a partially clogged shower drain in a bathroom. When we discussed it with the staff, they were very understanding and supportive. Good place. We will stay again.

Needed a place to stay in Avalon for a family wedding. Desert Sands was conveniently located within walking distance of the event. It would be even nicer had the on-site restaurant was operational. Also the signage to the check-in location could have been clearer... no big deal, just a suggestion.

Hotel was great - very clean, first and foremost! Front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating. Pool towels were plentiful, and there is a shower if you want to use the pool/beach after checkout. If you want to get food and bring it back, there’s plenty of seating out near the pool and also on the 2nd floor outdoors. We loved the lemon water at the front desk! Kids loved the outdoor pool. The only reason I will take away a star is that the outdoor pool surface was very rough and my husband, nephew and daughter all scraped themselves badly on it AND the location is good for the beach, but far from the downtown of Stone Harbor. With small kids, it’s not that walkable.
