It’s too cold outside to be THIS cozy inside! My husband and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary over NYE in room 2. It was lovely and we hope to come back! The hot tub was great, and the bus stop to the slopes is RIGHT outside. It’s honestly the perfect location. Walking distance to the lake and great food (highly recommended the sushi happy hour around the corner), only 1 bus stop away from California lodge ski Lyft, and free parking. There was a fireplace in the room, we had access to a fridge and microwave, and there is a bar inside the lobby! They have a ton of games and an awesome DVD collection. Best hotel we’ve honestly stayed in. Also everyone was super nice and helpful! The only thing that could have made the stay better was if there was another mirror in our room and if the WiFi was faster.

We loved our studio cabin at Black Bear Lodge! The cabin was beautiful inside with a luxurious king bed, nicely appointed kitchen, and spacious bathroom with walk-in shower. Outside, we had a nice grassy area under Ponderosa pines to sit in the sun or the shade and enjoy the quiet surroundings. Most days we walked down to the lake to enjoy the beach or take the Tahoe Cruise. There are many attractive restaurants within walking distance, too!

The location is ideal close enough but far enough to the activity. Rooms are well appointed, clean and are a small efficiency. Parking is easy. Property is beautiful. Staff is friendly and helpful. Close to numerous restaurants and a quick walk to the lake. Only thing missing was a second mirror outside of the bathroom, so that one can put make up on or do hair while other is showering.

Great location. Rooms are super cute and modern. Great amenities with nice soaps, towels and even a hot water pot, microwave and mini fridge. The hot tub looked nice, but we never made it there to enjoy it. You get free drink coupon upon arrival which was a plus! Staff is super friendly! Definitely will return here!

Black Bear Lodge is a lovely little hideaway in Lake Tahoe. The rooms are very well appointed, with fire, fan, AC and windows that fully open, so you can get the room exactly how you want it. The beds are large and very comfortable. On arrival you also get a free drinks coupon to use at the small in-house bar for a beer, wine or soft drink, which is a lovely touch. We did have one issue though, which was that our shower wasn't draining properly - someone was sent immediately to the room with some drain unblocker liquid, but it didn't do the trick. Hopefully they sorted it once we checked out though. Otherwise, the stay was absolutely perfect and we would stay there again in a heartbeat! The location is also fantastic, walking distance to many restaurants and shops, as well as the marina. There's ample parking too. And it's on the California side of the lake (which is nicer than the Nevada side!) The rooms themselves also feature a microwave, coffee/tea, fridge, TV, comfortable seating and all the amenities you could need.

The patio was extremely dirty with dust and pollen from trees. In my 3 nights stay i didnt sit out on the patio even once because it was dirty. Day one the kettle didnt work, once i got that fixed then day two the microwave stopped working. one of the tv remotes didnt work and there was nothing there for entertainment such as board games or card games. It got super hot at night even with the windows all open, since there isnt any Air Conditioning. And I noticed they offered some others guests complimentary water bottles upon check in but I wasn't offered anything in the three nights i stayed. Almost $1400 for three nights, not sure if thats justified. Maybe half of it.

The suite was very comfy and relaxing. The only problem was the jacuzzi tub. No idea how to turn it on and off, no idea how to turn jets on, and to make matters worse, the water was EXTREMELY FILTHY when we filled it up which means the tub was DIRTY.

Loved our stay a the Black Bear Lodge. Very clean and quiet. Loved the old Tahoe feel, but the modern clean rooms. Loved the complimentary wine and sitting out in the beautiful grounds.

Staff was outstanding: friendly, helpful, professional in every way. Room was large and comfortable. View was lovely. Cleanliness was fine. We requested that our linens be changed and that was done speedily and with no hassle. Can't say enough good things about the staff!

We loved our room (room 5, king bed). It was extremely spacious and decorated with a cool mountain vibe. The bed was comfortable, with a nice feathertop mattress topper. And the outdoor hot tub was exactly what we wanted after a day of hiking. (Along with the warm robes in the rooms that you can wear back from the hot tub.) We really enjoyed it. My only complaints are minor and could be easily remedied: because our room was in the main lodge (upstairs of check-in), it got somewhat noisy in the morning; the only coffee available in both the room and in the lobby was "brew in bag" teabags of coffee, which were not great; the bathroom could use some more hooks for towels and clothes; there is a smoke alarm high on the ceiling that flashes with a bright white light every 10 sec or so which is irritating when trying to sleep; although there were 4 pillows, only 1 was soft-- we would have liked a selection of some firmer, some softer. All of these are very minor issues, so I hope they resolve them. Regardless, we had a very enjoyable stay, and really enjoyed the spaciousness and style of the room.

Stayed here for the first time and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Booked the Sienna Suite which is a great space for a family. It's situated so that it's fairly private. Two negatives though: 1) if you're averse to noise at night, this might not be the best room for you. The master bedroom window faces a main road and can be quite noisy in the early morning. There is also a generator/equipment right below/next to the unit that makes quite a bit of noise every 2-3 hours. 2) if you're planning on cooking in the large kitchen, you might want to bring some cooking supplies. While it is stocked with utensils, plates, and cups, there are only a couple pots/small pans available to cook with. The staff were incredibly friendly. The grounds were fun to explore and had a very distinct charm. We will definitely be back, but probably will try out one of the cabins towards the back of the property.

Stayed here for the first time and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Booked the Sienna Suite which is a great space for a family. It's situated so that it's fairly private. Two negatives though: 1) if you're averse to noise at night, this might not be the best room for you. The master bedroom window faces a main road and can be quite noisy in the early morning. There is also a generator/equipment right below/next to the unit that makes quite a bit of noise every 2-3 hours. 2) if you're planning on cooking in the large kitchen, you might want to bring some cooking supplies. While it is stocked with utensils, plates, and cups, there are only a couple pots/small pans available to cook with. The staff were incredibly friendly. The grounds were fun to explore and had a very distinct charm. We will definitely be back, but probably will try out one of the cabins towards the back of the property.

I loved this lodge! The rooms were big, with plenty of space to spread out! Very quiet and the bed was very comfortable! I would definitely stay here again!

My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. It was peaceful and relaxing, exactly what we needed. The weather was perfect for sitting out on the patio and there was plenty of room for both of us to stretch out and enjoy the amenities in our suite.

The hotel is one of a kind. It makes me feel like home. I also want to say thank you to Bri who provided above and beyond the term of hospitality. She deserved a raise and call out employees of the month. She does not only friendly but also resolves and provides lot of useful information when we asked. Truly amazing staff. Called me to let me know a snow storm had hit, and wanted to keep me updated. Found out it was my birthday and surprised me. Just easy things that made me feel valued. You can tell they genuinely cared about their customers.

It’s too cold outside to be THIS cozy inside! My husband and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary over NYE in room 2. It was lovely and we hope to come back! The hot tub was great, and the bus stop to the slopes is RIGHT outside. It’s honestly the perfect location. Walking distance to the lake and great food (highly recommended the sushi happy hour around the corner), only 1 bus stop away from California lodge ski Lyft, and free parking. There was a fireplace in the room, we had access to a fridge and microwave, and there is a bar inside the lobby! They have a ton of games and an awesome DVD collection. Best hotel we’ve honestly stayed in. Also everyone was super nice and helpful! The only thing that could have made the stay better was if there was another mirror in our room and if the WiFi was faster.

This hotel is a great value and the location is ideal for skiing Heavenly. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The rooms are updated and comfortable and include extra touches including a fireplace and robes and slippers. The shuttle bus stop is right in front of the property making the location super convenient.

Great location. Rooms are super cute and modern. Great amenities with nice soaps, towels and even a hot water pot, microwave and mini fridge. The hot tub looked nice, but we never made it there to enjoy it. You get free drink coupon upon arrival which was a plus! Staff is super friendly! Definitely will return here!

The room we stayed in (one of the larger ones) needed better lighting in the kitchen, living room and dining areas and an update in decor throughout. The style and quality did not match that of the photographs on the website. Also, the website indicated that "small plates" were available in the evening but only snacks like potato chips are offered. The staff at the inn were not very knowledgeable about things to do in the area. If it is a first-time visit to Lake Tahoe and the surrounding region, advice on the various activities and places to visit would make guests' stay more enjoyable. The restaurants recommended by the inn also need better vetting. We quickly learned that Tahoe is not a foodie destination and better recommendations would have bee appreciated to avoid disappointing dining experiences.

Loved our stay at Black Bear! We stayed in one of the studio cabins and it was wonderful! Whoever decorated it did an excellent job - such attention to detail. The cabin was so cozy and clean. The desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was convenient as well. Would definitely stay here again!
