Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Hollister

The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast options were basic but sufficient and very family friendly. I subtracted one star because the hotel tried to charge me an additional $5/night for parking even though the listing claims they offer free parking. Apparently they stopped offering free parking as of Jan 1 but haven't yet updated their listings to reflect this. They didn't tell me about this ahead of time - I only noticed it when reviewing my bill at checkout.

Hotel seems fairly updated. Breakfast only average, I did appreciate they had turkey sausage one morning. Staff were helpful. The Negatives were, Swimming pool was out of order during our stay, refrigerator was not functional, the bathrooms had a rotten egg smell, and the wall as you walk into the room was very dirty and needed repainting.

Clean room and helpful/friendly staff. Coffee/tea, water, fruits are available 24/7, as well as a small fridge with yogurt and milk. Breakfast also has cereals, oatmeal, bagels, muffins and self-serve waffles The pool was out of order which was disappointing.

The hotel was convenient for us to get to Pinnacles National Park. When we were done at the park, we were close to the “downtown “ area for restaurants to have dinner. The pool was great after a day of hiking

The front desk told us the room would be cleaned; it wasn't . The front desk told us there was an ice machine on our floor; there wasn't. Breakfast was not available at the advertised time. The microwave oven in our room did not work. There was an unannounced fee to park.

Thought the breakfast options were great and coffee was available at all hours, pool was closed during our stay, otherwise the hotel and staff were great. One week later and i still have the $5 hold for incidentals showing on the credit card so I'll need to go through the hassle of disputing that.

Fairfield by Marriott •⁠ ⁠The AC temperature controller was not working when we arrived. The unit was working, but it had a sign saying to use the wall mounted controller only. So we couldn’t adjust the temperature to something comfortable. When the technician came, he said to ignore the sign and use the controller in the unit itself, and that he had asked the manager to let the guests know, but the manager refused. Our room was not the only one with this particular problem •⁠ ⁠The pool was closed for repairs •⁠ ⁠The first morning of our stay there was no hot water for showers or anything else •⁠ ⁠The washing machine in the guest laundry wasn’t working and the hotel personnel wasn’t even aware. My clothes were trapped in there for an hour or more. We are thinking about asking our credit card to refuse payment. The pool and laundry were esential for our long trip. The lack of hot ware and adecuate temperature control was most anoying.

The breakfast could have been way better.. the sink was cracked. The staff at the front desk wouldn’t answer the phone when calling and there was not where on the website that said the pool was not going to be open due to repainting the area, they said we could walk across the street and use their pool if we wanted too.

Nothing amazing about this stay. The pool was broke and out of order. The tv didn’t work, the phone didn’t work. We had to change rooms, and the shower was like warm to cold in few moments. My Kids and Wife had to take cold showers. This is completely unacceptable

The room was clean and promptly available upon check-in. We've stayed here in two other occasions and this time we noticed a weird sewer smell coming from the sink and shower. The breakfast buffet is nice and parking is plentiful.

When we arrived the bathroom smelled of sewage. I asked to switch rooms as the smell was quite bad. I was told there were o other rooms and that maintenance would be sent up. Unfortunately whatever was done did not fix the issue. Bathroom sink was unusable as the smell was horrible. Also shower door was broken, when it was closed, it was almost impossible to open from the inside, luckily my husband took the first shower and was able to get the door open, I would not have been able to do it. I ended up taking a shower with the door open, so I would not get stuck inside.

We had several issues during our two night stay. When we arrived we found a pair of underwear stuck behind the toilet. Not sure how that was missed when the room was cleaned. The shower was only lukewarm and actually turned cold on me both times I used it. The breakfast was not restocked often and the second morning most of the food was gone even though it was only an hour into the breakfast time. Upon checkout I discovered that we were charged $5 a day for parking which we were unaware of.

zero hospitality at checkin. Hallways, elevators were filthy. Carpets and tile floors desperately needed to be cleaned. I really didn’t have a good feeling of what the room would look like. As soon as we got inside the small area in front of the bathroom, I could also right away visibly see that the room was not properly cleaned. The tile floors had splotches on them that would easily come off if it had been mopped. They was hair on the floor. I saw all of this within a few seconds. The bathroom had hair on the floor there was hair on the new towels on the wall. There was particles and debris on the ground. I ended up taking a baby wipe and trying to clean up some of the spots so that my kids socks wouldn’t get filthy but they ended up being gray within 20 minutes. There were no snacks in the shop near reception. For the day I was there they were literally left empty which is pathetic. We went down for breakfast 20 minutes before it ended and there was four apples in a bowl and some sausage links. There were no drinks- there was no bread, bagels, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, nothing except those apples and sausage links. A young man was by himself frantically cleaning up instead of restocking. When I checked out about 45 minutes later, I was asked for my room number and presented with a printed receipt on the counter. No one asked me how my stay was. Chose elsewhere.

The property is great, the staff is wonderful, and the breakfast is enjoyable. The only downside is the bed. The bed is quite hard and uncomfortable.

Not enough toilet paper, towels were not ready till the morning after we arrived and we had to go to the desk twice to ask about them. No one at the front desk, no one around during breakfast for refills or questions, the handle for the hand-help shower head in the handicap shower did not work making the shower useless because the shower head is on the other wall away from the seat. The bed was hard. No body taking care of business and now worthy to be a Marriott product. Love the indoir pool

The new hotel and room 205 was lovely, large and modern. The breakfast was limited but good. Would have been nice to have potatoes with the eggs and sausage. Overall, everything was great...almost. We had men next door who talked and laughed loudly until 12:30am. We did not call the front desk or bang on their door because we were afraid of retaliation. Not your fault so I didn't deduct any stars. Would definitely stay there again.

Love the breakfast, the microwave and refrigerator in the room, and the spacious area with sofa and desk, plus 2 television screens. This is a great value!

Newer, clean property, very convenient to downtown Hollister. Staff exceptionally pleasant. Would note that walls weren't as soundproof as I'd like, and current-fashion showerhead (big head with wide spray arc) is SO high that at 5 ft. 3, I could just touch it with stretched arm. Couldn't really adjust it. Why are hotels doing this?

The air conditioner was loud so we coould not use it. At 1:30 in the morning there was a loud compressor or something so we had to call the desk at 2 am. At about 2:15 am we heard noise above us and the loud compressor or whatever it was stopped. It may have been an air conditioner. We we very thankful it stopped or we would have left.

Everything was great about this location. Just one little thing and it's minor. The tile in the shower, where the shower door connected to the wall was cracked or broken. This is probably why water was seeping out and going on the floor because the shower door couldn't close properly.

the place was old the people above me were loud and walked hard the staff was nice but the hotel rooms need updsting

Met our needs. Thin walls once tv was off could hear normal conservation in next room. Also 12:30am above us was someone walking heavily or stomping for 45 minutes. Not Fairfield’s fault but example of thin walls.

The front desk staff is great. Fix the door on room 313 so it properly closes. Fix the microwave door in room 313 so it properly closes. The breakfast service was a messy situation. The food was cold and bland, and if the staff is walking past a stuffed trashcan more than three or four times, then they should consider taking out the trash. try to stay on top of restocking stuff.

I would have given 5 stars for everything except the breakfast which was a 2 out of 5. However, they tried to charge me for an additional night that I did not reserve, did not request, and did not stay. I had to call the hotel and convince them that I didn't stay another night. From now on I will check out at the desk. No more leaving the keys in the room.

Staff was very helpful-especially Isabella! Expedia made a mistake with my booking and Marriott (Isabella) made every effort to correct it. The hotel was clean as well.

We had late check in because our room was not ready and our iron didn’t work and we couldn’t get help at the front desk

The General Manager was Outstanding!! She helped me with our Platinum Elite number and suggested I merge two accounts and provided me with a number. She was very customer service oriented. I will be returning here.

My experience was great when I checked in with Front Desk with Daisy. But I had an issue with John the guy in the front desk . I had mention to Daisy if i could leave the key for the room for my son and she said "yes of course I will leave the key front desk with his name just have him ask for it and he could get it"! I said "great thank you". So my son gets to the hotel ask for the key the at front desk guy 'JOHN" tells him "no you can not have the key if your not the person on the hotel"! My son calls me that John doesn't want to give him the key, so I told my son "hand me the phone so I could talk to him" . so he passes me the phone! John said" I am not giving him nothing because his not on the list and your a third party you don't get the same service "! he hangs up on me !! i don't think that is a great customer service already . So i call back and I told him why he hang up on me and he mentions "I don't have time and I am not giving your son anything"! so he hangs up again. So the third time I ask for the manager and he says 'No-one is here"! and hangs up for the third time.. From there I was really upset I don't think for a great place like Fairfield should have someone unprofessional like this for front desk and customer Service. I also wanted to mention my room wasnt clean the next day so had no room service which I dont now why that wasnt done either. But the customer service John hanging up on me was really bad customer service.

The hotel was very nice and reasonably close to Pinacles National Park. The downtown is a short driving distance way.

We enjoyed our stay for trip to Pinnacles National Park. Hotel is well maintained with great facilities and excellent continental breakfast which was especially appreciated to fuel up before some demanding hiking in the park. Suggest offering non dairy milk option, but range free eggs, hot oatmeal with large selection of toppings, hot food items, juices, waffles, rated excellent as far as hotel continental breakfast. Parking is easy and hotel also close to easy dinner food in Hollister such as Togo’s, Panda Express, Chipotle. Room felt quiet and clean, bed was comfortably firm. Would stay again on our next trip to Pinnacles.

This was very convenient to Pinnacles Nat'l Park. It's a well-maintained hotel, and we got a King suite for a reasonable price. Nice views outside of nearby ag fields. And they have an *excellent* breakfast buffet (free), which include many healthy toppings for oatmeal, cage free eggs and I liked their compostible cutlery, rather than single use plastic ware. One suggestion, which applies to any hotel stay - check the clock radio and make sure no alarm is set. We didn't even notice there was a clock radio, as it was small and black, but the previous occupant set it for 6 a.m., so we were awakened then - when we wanted to sleep in - having no idea at first even where the alarm came from. This has happened in another hotel, and we will always check clock radios in the future in hotel rooms!

Breakfast had several gluten-free options and the quiche cups were delicious!

The breakfast options were fantastic. They kept the areas clean and refilled all the time. Staff was very polite and helpful. Room was clean except the water pressure was so high it kept spraying us when we washed our hands.
