Check in after lobby hours was easy with the virtual check in. Room was as described it was slightly dated. Only issue was wall was water damaged where ac was and paneling was peeling from wall. Parking was a nightmare at best. Plan accordingly and bring a car . I have a four door pickup and parking was very limited. Overall for the price it was fine

Older property, well kept, close to everything. Friendly people, on the beach with a pool. Would definitely go back. Only drawback is limited parking, small spaces, takes some maneuvering.

Room was fine, some dust bunnies that look like dog hair. Biggest issue was parking. One vehicle per room can park on the lot and good luck with that. If more than 1 car, they had to park in an overflow lot that was .3 mile down the road and that was limited. Big vehicle, better get there earlier. Only a handful spaces for them. How can you have family rooms with 3 king beds and expect everyone to show up in one car...

Old motel with very tight parking. Staff was friendly! Room was old but very clean! AC unit smelled like a wet dog when it went on but eventually the odor disappeared. Walked up a few stairs for a very nice view of the beach! For an overnight stay it was cheap and the king size bed was comfortable! It was a perfect stop for the night since it was quiet!

Property was run down,nothing worked, a/c was rattling making awful racket. The ice machine was broke so I had to go buy some. Could not save any because the refrigerator and freezer in the room did not work. Can’t forget about all the bugs in the room. Needles to say we stayed one night although we paid for three! Worst hotel we have ever been at!

The staff is very friendly, you get clean towels delivered to your room each morning. Private entrance for everyone, the pool was a nice size with plenty of seating, clean and well maintained. The rooms are clean, laid out well and spacious. No real complaints! The property could use an updating paint wise outside and the bathroom could use a remodel but all in all we enjoyed our stay!

This hotel worked fine for our family of 5, the room was a good size, and beds were comfortable. The property is quite old and a bit run down, however it actually was very clean. The pool area was very nice, and great beach access! Our room was very clean, some things were updated like the floors and sink. It was very easy to request clean towels, toilet paper, etc. It is a good option for those on a budget wanting to stay right on the beach. Staff we encountered were friendly.

The room was clean and had a comfortable bed. It could definitely use a remodel. The beach is not visible from the rooms. You have to go up and out onto the beach access which is easy enough.

The parking is horrible. No carpet on floors , floors were not mopped. My barefeet were black with dirt. Big dead roach behind commode. We did not go on the beach. Floor was full of sand. Wont ever be going back.

The pictures they show on Expedia for the rooms are false advertisement. They’re the most unappealing, inhospitable, dingy rooms you can imagine. And they all stink. There’s a no smoking sign inside the room, but it definitely reeked of cigarettes. Oh and there’s a dead cockroach on the floor of my bathroom when we first walked in. Parking is also god awful.

Overall our room was clean and the location next to the pier was great! Unfortunately our room had an old basement smell, very musty and a slight mildew odor. Not sure if there is water damage somewhere or if it's the property age. It wasn't terrible but if you're allergy sensitive Colonial Inn may not be for you!

The location is great! Convenient to restaurants, shops etc. Excellent biking and walking paths. Staff were friendly . Overall, the hotel is very dated. Parking was poor. Room quite small with poor lighting. Bathroom had mold and shower was barely a dribble. I wouldn't recommend nor will we revisit this location on future trips to OBX.

The shower was absolutely disgusting. It had not been cleaned because there was hair and dirt in it. We had to shower with shoes on. The room was filled with flies. The beach entrance is over grown. The parking lot is a total disaster.

The bad first, there wasn’t any way to change the shower water temperature and it was too hot for me! The bed was kind of lumpy and not that comfortable. Everything else was good, you’re right next to the beach and the pier. Which was the convenience I wanted.

Not a bad stay. This is an older property but for the price and location, was a good stay. Our room was nice, we were comfortable and it served the purpose. My only disappointment was not being able to actually see the ocean in our “oceanfront” room because the dunes have gotten so high they block the view.

Aucun personnel à l’accueil. Nous avons été accueillis par une machine qui communiquait virtuellement avec un préposé. Le wifi ne fonctionnait pas. Nous devions avoir un grand frigo à la chambre et nous avions un mini sans congélateur. La chambre était très petite. L’air climatisé était tellement vieux et bruyant que nous avons eu l’impression de dormir à côté de notre tondeuse.

This is an older property that has had some renovations. The beds were pretty comfy and the ac blew cold. They provided a fan, which was really appreciated! The proximity to the beach cannot be beat! And it’s in walking distance to a restaurant that has a good breakfast, right on the beach. The room is fine for what it is- a budget motel. Yet the pricing is pretty outrageous for the facility. You are paying for the location. The pull out bed was barely usable. It was truly awful. The towels and pillows were sub-par. The towels were stained, small, scratchy, and some had crusty brown bits stuck to them. While the rooms are nonsmoking, people are allowed to smoke right outside of their rooms. A room next to us had a beep that went off every 35 seconds for the entire night. Maybe the smoke detector needed a new battery? Every time our AC clicked off, the beep would wake us. That was a bummer. Overall, I’d say that it’s an ok place to stay if you’re just looking for a place to crash after a long day on the beach.

Our original room was in pretty sad shape. The staff was very accommodating and moved us to a different, nicer room. Beds are comfortable but wouldn’t plan to sleep on any of the pull out couches.

The location is great, right next to the Nags Head Pier, and close walking distance to local dining spots. Being right on the beach was a great plus. The rooms are clean and they have plenty of room. However, the beds weren’t the best, and I had an achy back most of the trip because of it. The A/C was working great, but was very loud. Overall, it’s a great value spot, and the location is perfect. Maybe bring a mattress pad if they haven’t swapped out the beds. Never used the pool as we stayed on the beach our whole stay, but it looked clean and nice.

Registration is via a person on a KIOSK. The room was clean and comfortable. The dual air conditioners were noisy. The BR is small and if you are long legged like I am you have to sit sideways on the toilet to keep from hitting the door frame. The walkway to the beach is via the shower area. It did not drain well and was holding water, so your shoes get wet.

Hotel is very outdated. The room amenities advertised when we booked were not in the room that we got on arrival. The manager and I agreed that I booked the “same” room but that the room did not come with what was offered in the description despite having a screenshot of my booking.

We really liked this property. It was on a main strip that had beach access right behind it, restaurants within walking distance and the owner was super helpful! We had to move rooms due to a plumbing issue but switching rooms was super easy & not a big deal. Only complaint we would have would be the water in the bathroom took forever to heat up & it wasn’t very hot. Pet friendly. We would stay again!

Pool was not open as advertised. Check-In is remote. No one is on-site to deal with problems/changes/requests. We were put right next to the only other customers who very noisy and we could not sleep. The sheets/mattress were very dirty. Booked two nights, but only given coffee for one. No one was there to give you more. Wanted to move and possibly stay another night, but too difficult to do remotely. Person on the line has to put you on hold and get authority from somone else- very frustrating.

Their kiosk check in machine only works till 1am. It wasn't 24/7 like they said in one of their reviews. The room itself was very small. There was no table to sit to eat. The bathroom was very tiny. The bleach odor in the room was overwhelming. Only good thing was pet friendly and the location to the beach. Good for 1-2 night stay only.

TV stopped working day 5. and toilet broke and had to fix ourselves. No one in office to help. Needed toilet paper. Had to buy. Not bad overall. Just needs people working more rather than kiosk
TV stopped working day 5. and toilet broke and had to fix ourselves. No one in office to help. Needed toilet paper. Had to buy. Not bad overall. Just needs people working more rather than kiosk

Great place for the price point and last minute booking. Perfect location to all my favorite places in Nags Head! Employees were very nice and loved the convenience of the check in/out kiosk.

The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect with beach access. Easy drive to Jockey Ridge, Bodie Island Lighthouse and fishing pier. Good bang for your buck.

Very affordable place to stay right on the beach and next to Nags Head Pier, which is a great place for breakfast. The beds were comfortable. Despite the motel being full, it was amazingly quiet.

The location is great, right next to the Nags Head Pier, and close walking distance to local dining spots. Being right on the beach was a great plus. The rooms are clean and they have plenty of room. However, the beds weren’t the best, and I had an achy back most of the trip because of it. The A/C was working great, but was very loud. Overall, it’s a great value spot, and the location is perfect. Maybe bring a mattress pad if they haven’t swapped out the beds. Never used the pool as we stayed on the beach our whole stay, but it looked clean and nice.

I loved the pool. Really liked the location. We enjoyed fishing at pier which was next door. Nearby alot of stores.

This place was fine. The rooms could use updates and/or be a bit cleaner, but it’s humid, sandy, and beachy and we weren’t complaining. Kitchen well stocked. Might be nice to have chairs available for the beach for use and/or rent, but overall this was fine. I’d probably come back.

Clean room, kind staff. We arrived early and they allowed us to change in the bathroom in the lobby even though we hadn't checked in yet. It is very noticable that it is a older hotel but everything was comfortable and we enjoyed our trip since we spent most of our time at the beach anyways!

Rooms were clean but small ,at least the one with the king bed. Everything outside is outdated and needs repair. The pool was very good . I think the thing most disappointing is we rented this place for easy access to NagsHead fishing pier . We were told when I booked 1 month ago that it was supposed to be open by this weekend July 24th - 26th. ,it wasn't. I know this is not the motels fault, but in the future, I would triple check if this is why you are staying here.
