The staff at the reception were EXTREMELY NICE AND WELCOMING! I had the chance to interact with people from different shifts and they were amazing. The swimming pool was dirty, the water looked green and it was kind of empty. I mean... whatever... I was not planning on swimming but if you are , or you bring kids with you, make sure to ask if the swimming pool is in good conditions.

Nice cabins, they provide lots of firewood, quiet and easy to reach destination. Some great dining and destinations within 5 to 30 minutes. Wish the Smokehouse restaurant was still full time!

Budget friendly, and you get what you pay for. It isn't fancy at all, but I would stay there again. Bed was comfy, room was decent. Both ice machines were broken and vending machines were empty. Small town, not much happening.

My room had areas that had not been cleaned for a very long time. Dirt and dust had built up on surfaces. The bathtub was not in great condition. The property offers limited service and the restaurant is only open limited hours on weekends. There isn’t much in the area so be prepared to drive for a good meal.

This is a unique, family-owned motel. The staff is excellent - welcoming and efficient. The room was sparking clean. But the buildings are aging. The air conditioner didn’t cool the room well. And the sheet had a hole in it. But the price was right, and the motel is convenient to the highway.

Oh my goodness. Gross! We checked into our room late in the evening. First, there was a pair of men's underwear on the floor that certainly didn't belong to me or my small child. Then we pulled back our comforters to see that the sheets DEFINITELY had not been change since the previous guest. The black lint on the wrinkled sheets definitely wasn't ours. Gross. gross. gross! The aesthetic was cute but I'd father stay in a clean Motel 6 or pay another $20 not to have to sleep in the sheets where some couple was likely copulating before the room was given to us.

Not worth the savings. Do yourself a favor, take a pass. Old, run down, and just sad. Beds are springy. Not clean. Disgusting stains under broken toilet seat. A/C heater filter needed to be replaced and it looked like it had never been cleaned. I don't know how it possibly could have gotten a excellent rating.

We always love staying here. Monteagle is a nice, quaint town. The cabins are cute and rustic and there are places nearby to eat and make merry. The mattresses are also better than those at most hotels. I had to go to the office too many times this stay…for a new key card. I didn’t know I shouldn’t put the key next to my phone/other cards. If the cabins got a good deep cleaning, it would be even MORE enjoyable to stay here.

Rooms were severely outdated- which isn’t a problem in itself. The issue is that it’s outdated in a way of DIRT. Shower was stained in dirt as well as the sink was caked in some kind of residue. It’s clear they’re not really cleaning these rooms aside from like changing the sheets. It only worked for me because i was there one night and was alone. But if you’re with family and going multiple nights choose somewhere else.

I wish I could share the photos I took. Feces on the toilet, lot of hair on the floor, hair, all around the toilet, hair on the pillowcases, dog hair and stains on the chairs, the floors were so dirty. It turned the bottom of my feet black, the faucets were dirty and the smell was horrible. I showed the pictures to the lady at the front desk and she switched us rooms. The second room smelled even worse and was just as dirty, except for there was not feces on the back of the toilet. For the price I expected much better.

I wish I could share the photos I took. Well to start I work at a hotel and I understand that things arent always going to be perfect but i expected more from a place that has 8 out of 10 star reviews. The room has a nice set up when you walk in until you see the bathroom barely big enough for one person to be in. Then the beds looked like somene had laid on them. They were wrinkled and the bed ruffle was hanging off for you to trip over. Not neatly made at all. Next the dust was crazy even though i was informed that my room had just been cleared and the mirrors were smudged so much I had to wipe them down myself. We had been traveling for 4 hours so when i walked in the door i slid my shoes off and walked to the bathroom. My feet were disgusting just from that. The floors are wood and they were filthy. After all of this my biggest complaint was that the reception in this area is terrible so a phone in the room would have been great. Oh wait there was a phone hidden in the bottom drawer of the dresser with no cords so it cant be plugged in. My mother was home with my autistic son and tried to get in touch with me. The front desk transferred her to the room but because housekeeping failed to fix the phone i knew nothing about the call. This i didnt hear about until the next day when i was finally able to get reception. I went down and asked for a manager and was told they werent going to be there today. Do you not have a manager on duty everyday? Tried to upload photos but it wont allow it.

Just your basic roadside motel, the photographer was excellent at improving expectation vs reality. All in, if the beds had been more comfortable, it would have been a much nicer stay.

The best thing about our stay was the ladies at the front desk. They were so friendly and talkative. The room is very outdated and dingy. Light bulbs needed to be replaced. The walls are paper thin. You can hear absolutely everything that was going on. We were on the bottom floor and unfortunately we had a bunch of people above us stomping back and forth the whole time. We were out there for a concert at the Caverns, so we basically just slept there. Or, I should say we tried to get some sleep in between all the stomping and noise. For the amount that we paid for the room, I was expecting a little better accommodations.

The single rooms are small with no desk, only one chair and no refrigerator. They put me on the upper balcony at the very back, so I had a real hike with my luggage. There were empty rooms much nearer to the parking lot.

Excellent service. Very friendly staff! The bed sheets and towels were damp, as was the chair cushions. Maybe it was due to the heat/humidity, and it’s like that all the time but it caused some discomfort as I had to use an extra blanket that was in the drawer to sit and sleep on top of.

We've stayed here before and each time have we've enjoyed our stay. Both times our reservation didn't reflect our need for a walk in shower as requested. The staff was very helpful inresolving this issue.

Could have been better, I fell in shower when I mentioned to them at check-out they should have non-slip mat in shower I was told they had them available if I had asked. I told them I didn't really think of it until I fell and was told sorry but never asked if I hurt myself or anything else. Will never stay there again.

Musty odor to room when we checked in 5:00 pm. Storm went through starting at 11:30 pm. At 12:30 a.m. water started streaming down the INSIDE of door, and gurgled into room from underneath the locked door. Nobody avail at front desk (after hours?) to address this with. As soon as I checked in they said they don't like locals to stay at their motel; They took a hold of over a $100 when I had prepaid for a room already on my card; when I checked out they did not take the hold on my credit card and we're very argumentative with me After they had insulted me by saying that they did not like locals to stay at their motel.

The place was nice however the pool was empty and the morning staff gave another guest access to the room we were sleeping in. It was odd getting barged in on by a stranger but overall it was a neat little place.

We stayed here for a quick overnight. It’s old, rustic lodge. If you’re expecting the ritz, you will be disappointed. If you are expecting a rustic lodge, you’ll love it. It’s definitely older but they have done a good job with maintenance. It was spacious and clean. The front desk staff was incredible. They gave us tips where to eat, where to catch sunset and encouraged us to visit the campus of University of the South. That campus was not on my radar and ended up being the highlight of our visit. The campus looks like it’s from Harry Potter, with all gothic inspired structures. Absolutely gorgeous! Plus we found some additional hiking opportunities on campus! Check out Morgan’s Steep!

The Smokehouse was perfect for the night before a music festival at The Caverns in Pelham, TN. It was clean, convenient and exactly what we needed after traveling 14 hours. The staff was very friendly and the room was large and very functional. The price was great too! We will definitely stay here next time we go to experience music at The Caverns!

We went to dinner at their restaurant. Our server was very nice, but the food took forever. Everyone that came in after us was served promptly, when our server came to us to apololgize she said the cook was taking orders out of order. We still waited and finally had to go up to the desk, were told our order is ready just waiting for the brussels sprout, but someone next to us was just served his brussels sprout and he just came in. Then our order is delivered without one of our meats and we had to go ask for it. So, someone needs to work on their cooks and proper handling of orders. We were disappointed but the food was delicious.

My room had areas that had not been cleaned for a very long time. Dirt and dust had built up on surfaces. The bathtub was not in great condition. The property offers limited service and the restaurant is only open limited hours on weekends. There isn’t much in the area so be prepared to drive for a good meal.

Overall everything was good. One night stay along our travels to the caverns. Didn’t give it 5 stars since there weren’t too many amenities. If there was WiFi, we didn’t know about it - truly no big deal aside from trying to plan the remainder of our trip. Also, no microwave was disappointing. We had left over food from the smokehouse to heat up after the show and no go on that. Pretty rare to see no microwave in a hotel.

Great place to stay over the holiday weekend to see some concerts at the Caverns. We stayed in a cabin, which had a very camp vibe because of being in the woods (so a bit dusty and some bugs around), but it was comfy and spacious. The front porch with the rocking chairs was a nice touch. The kitchen was very useful (basic cooking supplies were provides - pots, pans, some utensils, plates, glasses, etc). The staff was always friendly and helpful. I will absolutely return next time I head to the Caverns.
