Altoona Grand Hotel

Over priced. If anyone uses water while you are showering your are either scolded or frozen. Rooms were average. Pool was nice. Grouses nest bar/reastaurant was decent. Me and my wife had the filets. They were cooked well and the salad was amazing. I would recommend staying elsewhere if it is feasible. Overall 3.5 out of 5 for me. Not 8 star either. More along the line of a 7. As it is an average hotel that is pricey.

Room was clean. Staff were kind and helpful. Easy drive to convention center.

The website lists amenities that no longer exist such as an arcade, game room and hot tub. It only has one elevator for 200+ rooms. The elevator was not centrally located; we had to walk down several corridors past about 50 rooms while juggling our luggage because there were no luggage carts. The front desk staff had a lousy attitude. More interested in there phone than checking us in or answering questions. Despite complaints from several people, There was smoking and drinking in the pool area. Cans of alcoholic beverages were left poolside within reach of young children. The continental breakfast ran out of milk, juice, meat, yogurt, pastries, and fruit. They started putting the one waffle maker away while there were still people waiting in line to make one. Overall it was not a pleasant experience. I do not recommended this hotel and will be staying elsewhere when in the area.
