Motel 6-La Mesa, CA - San Diego

Bathtub/shower needs a mat or non-slip surface. It was super slick and we were constantly worried about slipping in the shower. There was also a wide gap between the door and the door jam. Memory foam mattresses can be nice, but why by the super-firm one? And glad we brought our own pillows. Don't expect room to be serviced and they don't have privacy door hangars if you needed one. Ice machine also broken. Also be careful where you park, they share a lot with the business next door that say they'll tow if you park in their spaces.

A bit packed if you'll planning to travel with a group of 4 people, but it's expected if you share a room. We chose to stay here the same weekend to see Ghost play in San Diego! It was serviceable, although we did have to bring our own shampoo and body wash for a more comfortable shower. The only real complaint was that the vending machine needs some maintenance. The numbered items are mixed up, and we tried getting some Oreos but the machine did not allow us to make the purchase. Other than that, this place was alright in my book.

Comfortable bed, dark curtains. Hot clean shower. Pet-friendly (no additional fee). Convenient parking. Friendly staff, speedy check-in. Everything seemed clean (no carpet). Basic toiletries provided (no coffee). Shower curtain was clean/new. Small scratchy towels but they seemed new and clean. Some cigarette burns in the top cover, and chips in the bathroom tub, walls, and door. Air conditioner sounded weird but worked. Room smelled musty. Upstairs neighbors sounded like a heard of elephants. Odd location between two Auto Dealerships with no dining in walking distance (not recommended in what seems to be a Red Light District area).

My Motel 6 Review. Smooth it out please: When I arrived, I asked if there was a first floor room. Upon checking, the young lady said yes and that it was the same price as the upstairs room. I was very happy about that. I unloaded the car and brought everything in and then as I looked around, I realized there was no fridge or microwave. I was very surprised about that, but then, I don't normally stay at Motel 6. I called the desk and asked, and was informed I should've known this. How would I know??? I thought every room had both! I asked if I could have the room upstairs that I was supposed to have. I was told yes, but it would cost me an additional $22! How could that be?? In any case I was hung up on by the young woman. About 15 minutes later she called to say her boss said I could have it for the same price. I was already ready for bed, so I said I would deal with it in the. morning. I called around 6:45am and had the room changed. When I arrived upstairs, there was a fridge and micro on top of it. The fridge was plugged in but the micro was not. The reason it wasn't is because the cord didn't reach! I had to move the micro over to the desk under the TV as that was the only plug nearby. The plug didn't work properly and I had to hold it to get the micro to work. At least I had them! Other issues included no hot water. Shower was tepid. TV did not work. Floor was sticky. Bath mat was stained. Lock on the door was missing a piece. Both ice machines did not work.

You need more parking spaces

I am mostly worried about bed bugs and safety. I have gone to this hotel a few times in different rooms and I did not find any bed bugs, nor have I brought any home. The area is relatively safe and they have security cameras. I traveled with my dogs and the staff are always nice.

Very nice play to stay. Room was very clean, bed comfortable. Very good lighting outside as well in the parking area. Staff was very professional. Would stay again. Many food choices near by as well.

Fire alarm was making noise due to no battery. Only solution offered was to remove the alarm completely. Absolutely no drinking water available on the property. Vending machine was out of everything. Was not restocked at all. Only good part was the lady on the front desk. She helped in every possible way she could.

The overall property is safe and I feel comfortable. Unfortunately I saw two roaches during my stay. I’m not sure if they were coming up the bathroom drain or from under the door. My last stay I was upstairs. I was in room 126 downstairs. I’m just sharing so this issue can be resolved. Thanks

I’ve stayed here a few times and never had an issue. This past visit (Room 111) the room was infested with ants. Not a good thing

Room was dirty when we arrived. There was food on the counters, hair in the tub, used soap in the tub, soap box on the counter, pee on the floor in front of the toilet and the floors were very dusty. Check in took about 20 minutes and you had to stand outside to check in at a window. When I complained about the cleanliness the next day, the gal wasn’t very happy with me. She had the maid come to the room and she was VERY unhappy! Mopped the floor in front of the toilet and called it clean. The sheets were thread bare. Won’t ever stay here again. Definitely not a three star hotel.

1st room smelled like pee and and cigarettes had to go get Lysol from front desk 2nd woke up to sink cover in ant as well as bathroom

The WIFI did not work, called them twice and did not help me. Stayed three nights without a WIFI.

The room was great just missing fridge and microwave

The noise level was very high. I didn't realize it was so close to the freeway. Also the fridge kept making a popping noise. The lights outside were so bright that it kept my room lit all night. The curtains weren't long enough to block the light.

It is 300 feet off the freeway, very noisy.

The coffee ran out on Friday. There was no creamer until Friday. It would be nice if each room had a small coffee/tea maker in them. The WiFi was not secure and I had to work from my motel room. The staff should know to reassure people that they can use their cell phone's hotspot to secure their internet connections. Otherwise i liked how clean it was. The interior looked newly updated, which was nice. The tv worked great! I was grateful that there was a fridge in my room. Would've been nice to have a microwave also!

Very basic accommodation. Not terrible, just not good. Didn’t have a coffee maker in the room. Didn’t provide shampoo. No frills at all.

The property is right next to the highway that the noise is too heavy. In addition to that the train goes in the back of the property that also makes noise. The wall is too thin to hear all the noise from the next room. Then noise of the air conditioner is too noisy to sleep.

My room did not have a microwave.

Room is big with Microwave and refrigerator. One Staff is friendly but another one is mean. There is no Hair Blower or coffee maker. We will bring our own next time.

I have stayed here previously and enjoyed the one front desk agent who has a little girl, but everyone else is some of the worst people I have come across in my life. A young, incompetent girl was hired who cannot speak correctly or listen and feels like the only ploy she has for retort is to be rude to people when the property has an issue. DO NOT STAY HERE; you will regret it! There is another Motel 6 down the street in La Mesa that is cleaner, nicer, and all around run by better staff. Plus there are better places across the freeway and really better priced than this place.

Front desk agent was very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean. Being right off the freeway, I was not expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised.

I was turned away at 1:30 am for a prepaid reservation with my wife and children and service dog. This was due to me not having the deposit deposit only being in the room a few hours. We had to sleep outside in the cold despite having a room that was paid for.

Always come here but for some reason today there was a new lady that was rude. Charged an extra 40 for early check in. Thats ridiculous for checking in early to a place with plenty ofnrooms open. I didnt like that at al since i visit here regularly.

Arcey was incredible!! I left my iPad behind and she worked with me to ensure that it was delivered back to my home in Arizona. I would 100000% recommend this motel based off its integrity alone. Also, clean inside and no issue while we stayed there.

This property kept my deposit and said i smoked in The room when i dont even smoke. The staff was very unprofessional and they kept my 60 dollar deposit.

It gets the job done, as they say. Location is central to a lot, it's in a lower price range, parking on site, and it has the basic amenities. But it's not a comfortable bed, there is freeway noise all hours (not terrible but just to make note), and stench of what smells like cheap cleaning products is almost stifling until you air out the room (windows do open). And $120 is not nothing. So it does the job, but it's not super cheap

I liked that it was relatively closed to the hospital I needed to visit. I didn't like the freeway noise, and being right next to the "shed", the trash and garbage collection point.

Check in after hours was easy and quick. Friendly staff and close to SDSU campus.

Very clean and spacious when I got to my room. Close to the trolley station and restaurants.

This place is nice and quiet, but there's no close by restaurants near there.

Just wish there was either a store nearby or restaurant.

Just a half a mile west on s DZ Akins,fabulous NY style deli,Denny’s and Marie Callendars,all are next to each other.Bed was firm and comfortable

There was no fridge, not enough towells or comforters, no dining, little lighting, no shampoo or conditioner. It had 4 pillows for a 2 bed hotel. It was stripped basic. Just a place to sleep, shower that was it. House keeping did come and put in clean towels the second day. We stayed 2 nights.
