Staff never mentioned that a marathon would close streets on Sunday. When we learned about it, we were stressed about getting to the train for our flight back to the USA. We asked them to call a cab in the pouring rain, but they refused, saying it was impossible because of the race. Another guest called her own cab and it arrived fine. The hotel next door explained the same marathon situation, but made the effort to call us a cab and even offered tea while we waited. That's real hospitality. We were told breakfast had to be reserved the night before, so we tried to do exactly that, but were then told that it was full. We had other issues as well, and for a very overpriced three-star hotel, this one-star rating is well deserved. There are plenty of welcoming, helpful alternatives in the neighborhood.

Great location and a very warm welcome. Room was very dark but good size. Don’t bother paying extra for a balcony. Our view was a concrete block of rooms so not enjoyable to utilise. Didn’t use it at all. Gym is terrible. One mat and 2 very old machines, no weights. Could hear heavy footed guests above but bearable. We didn’t opt for the breakfast but it did feel strange as it’s served in the reception area. They did offer soba noodles free of charge between 9 pm and 11 pm which sadly is too late for us. Missed opportunity really as it would be a lot better to have this offered between 5 and 8 pm. We would still recommend though.

とっても綺麗なホテルでした。 とにかくスタッフの方のホスピタリティが良かったです。 事前のメッセージのやりとりや当日、宅配をお願いしたのですが、こちらも快くご対応くださりありがとうございました。 雨の街なので傘は必須ですが、大きい傘を旅行に持って行くのは大変なので、貸し出しの傘があるのが良かった。 感動したのは、濡れた傘をすぐ回収し、乾かしていたこと。常に傘スタンドには乾いた傘が置かれていて、感心いたしました。 無料の夜鳴きそばも美味しかったです。 スタッフの方が着物なのも風情があって素敵でした。 また泊まりたいです。

Loved this boutique property in the lovely city of Kanazawa. Our room was much bigger than expected, clean, modern, quiet, with lots of amenities, and with a great little balcony. The down duvet blankets (like most in Japan, at least from our experience) were super fluffy and comfortable, and the pillows were down as well. We enjoyed our breakfasts here, both Western-style and Japanese-style, and the staff were kind and welcoming. The hotel has free bicycles for use, and the location is right in the centre of Kanazawa so you can walk to all the main sights, plus to shopping areas, convenience stores, restaurants, etc. Even the main train station is only about a 20-minute walk or so away, most of it under large awnings (so not too hot to walk or if it's raining).
