A convenient and affordable stop on the way to Tahoe. Quaint lodge in a lovely natural setting. The roooms are small a little dated; carpet could be cleaned or replaced. But the bed was comfortable and the shower huge with good water pressure. The breakfast (paid) at the restaurant was very good. Downside: the restaurant was airing a Christian missionary talk at high volume which did not make for a quiet meal. Note, this is hotel is a treatment center for recovering addicts, run by a faith-based organization out of Monterey County (which explains the missionary talk). A worthy cause and a place worth staying.

I needed a place to crash after a ski day. This is essentially a motel. It's not at all fancy but the beds are clean and comfortable, the small shower was hot and had good pressure and the attached restaurant makes a very good burger and milkshake (and breakfast). One warning - no liquor license. If you are looking for a quaint mountain retreat this is not the place. If you are looking for a comfortable base while skiing or exploring this places is solid.

Staffs are very friendly. It's really convenient to have restaurant/coffee shop in the same property. We enjoyed sledding and playing with the snow in the backyard.

PRO: Smooth check-in, parking directly in front of room, restaurant is close to room, wifi actually works. The area behind the lodge has a nice view of the mountains. Food took a long time, but was delicious. Shower was nice and big. Bed had a nice, thick blanket. CON: I was in room #1, which shares a wall with the kitchen. The restaurant closes at 9pm, but I got to listen to pots and pans banging and things being slammed against the wall until about 11pm. When the staff finally finished cleaning up the kitchen, I thought I’d have some peace. Unfortunately, they decided to stand around for another 90 minutes, talking loudly right outside my room. In addition, there is no AC in the room, no fridge, no microwave, no ice bucket (because there is no ice) and no vending machines in the premises. The room had this larger than necessary closet area that was totally empty and going to waste. It didn’t even have sockets to plug anything in. Looked like maybe they were in the process of upgrading things.

The only thing I would suggest would be clear signage for the office for check-in but otherwise, it was a great place to stay for the price. It was clean, plenty of towels, and the staff was friendly. And my kids got to play in the snow right outside our room. Hope to return in the summer to enjoy the firepit and outdoor areas. The restaurant was also super convenient.

This lodge is close to the freeway, so you hear the trucks. and it is noisy. Running a fan and white noise on my phone helped. No air conditioner. The restaurant was great. Good food and service. The coffee bar was also excellent. The bed was not as firm as I would have liked, but we slept well. The shower was large and better than most. Very friendly staff!

perfect for a quick winter getaway, just 12 miles down the mtns from Royal gorge xc. Simple, quiet, clean, warm room. decent snow in the vicinity too, if only there was access for snowshoeing etc. very good american food at the on site restaurant, The Rustic Table - helping breakfasts too. No liquor but good coffee.

Stayed here basically bc I was too tired to keep driving. I arrived late, rang the bell and quickly checked in. While the room is small, it was spotless, with a great shower! The bed was also very comfortable. The next morning, I had a fantastic breakfast at the on-site restaurant/coffee shop. The staff at the hotel and at breakfast were amazing. At the tail end of my breakfast, they had started their (impromptu?) local church service in the coffee bar area. I stayed and sang along a few hymns.

We stayed in the basement room (1 queen and bunkbed) which was perfect for our family of 4 with a dog. The room opens up to a big outdoor area, so it's extremely easy to to take the dog out. There was a small fridge and microwave so we had everything we needed for a night's stay. The only thing to know is that you have to go down two flights of stairs to access the room which may be an issue for some. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here one night on our way to Tahoe. Great for the price we paid ($150), the rooms are decent but carpets could definitely be replaced. There isn't much around the lodge other than the attached resturant which has good food for extremely reasonable prices.

Sierra Woods Lodge is not just a lovely, forested place to dine and spend the night in a comfy, clean room, it is also a non-profit for a very, very good cause. I didn't know that when I booked my stay, but now I do know, I'll be even more inclined to come back. The food at the "Rustic Cafe" was so, so good. The grounds were lovely, lots of places to sit and view nature. My room was scrupulously clean. The staff was so kind, thoughtful, funny, friendly.

My family & I stayed in room 16, one queen bed & a bunkbed on the mountain side. The view was beautiful. However, as soon as we went into the room I noticed a few things that were off. There were no smoke detectors. No locking mechanism to use from the inside of the door. No phone in the room which would have made me a lot more comfortable as cell reception was horrible there. The heater installed into the wall didn't work. We found a space heater in a closet, but it would only work for a few minutes at a time before its alarm started going off. The comforter on the queen bed had crusty stains on it. Very gross. The bunkbeds didn't have comforters at all. Only thin rough hospital-like blankets. No way they could keep you warm especially with no working heater. If it weren't for the fact that I brought blankets & a sleeping bag from home I would've complained. There were 4 area rugs in the room. The largest was the most disgusting. Looks like it should probably be a lighter color, but it was so dirty it was dark & there was white animal fur all over it. The only chair in the room should be a burgundy color, but was more black than anything. The shower had pink mold all around the the bottom. A quick spray of bleach would take care of that. The water temp in the shower took forever to get warm. A few pros. Not many. The gentlemen checking us in/out were friendly. Towels were soft & plush. The restaurant had good food. Can't wait to get home to clean everythint we brought.

We've stayed here a few times and it's a cute lodge and convenient for our trip. Nothing special and low frills. The past 2 times we stayed, we were in a different room. This time the room was definitely older and needed repair. The ceiling fan had layers of dust on it and the paint and sheetrock was bubbled and needed painting badly.

Loved this place. Super quaint. The restaurant was yummy, the restaurant staff was excellent. My issues were… the pillowcases. They leave the pillow itself exposed which isn’t sanitary unless they are physically washing the pillows as well between each guest, which I highly doubt. I also found 2 tiny black bugs on the pillows. I instantly thought bed bugs but, I researched and found out they were not. The tv remotes were super dusty. I just feel like a lot more detail should go into the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms. Also, no AC. They did provide a fan… but, the room got muggy. It was a warm day, an ac would have been great.

We had room 10 with a "mountain view" - it was on the back, with less traffic noise, but the way the room was set up made it only convenient for one person. The queen bed was very close to the wall on one side - hard to get into on that side and what was worse, it had NO bedside table, not even a shelf for glasses or water, no light on that side, etc. Also none of the usual amenities - coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave - so a bit overpriced for what it offered. On the good side, it was very clean (although the odor of the cleaning products was a bit overwhelming and windows had to be left open) and the staff was friendly -

The lodge was overall okay. It was clean and had a great backyard space to relax in. There is also a restaurant barracked to the lodge which is convenient and a little postal office/convenience store. The bed was squeaky, the sound of the freeway was noticeable, and there was no AC (just fans) but good price/value.

PRO: Smooth check-in, parking directly in front of room, restaurant is close to room, wifi actually works. The area behind the lodge has a nice view of the mountains. Food took a long time, but was delicious. Shower was nice and big. Bed had a nice, thick blanket. CON: I was in room #1, which shares a wall with the kitchen. The restaurant closes at 9pm, but I got to listen to pots and pans banging and things being slammed against the wall until about 11pm. When the staff finally finished cleaning up the kitchen, I thought I’d have some peace. Unfortunately, they decided to stand around for another 90 minutes, talking loudly right outside my room. In addition, there is no AC in the room, no fridge, no microwave, no ice bucket (because there is no ice) and no vending machines in the premises. The room had this larger than necessary closet area that was totally empty and going to waste. It didn’t even have sockets to plug anything in. Looked like maybe they were in the process of upgrading things.

This lodge is close to the freeway, so you hear the trucks. and it is noisy. Running a fan and white noise on my phone helped. No air conditioner. The restaurant was great. Good food and service. The coffee bar was also excellent. The bed was not as firm as I would have liked, but we slept well. The shower was large and better than most. Very friendly staff!

Stayed here basically bc I was too tired to keep driving. I arrived late, rang the bell and quickly checked in. While the room is small, it was spotless, with a great shower! The bed was also very comfortable. The next morning, I had a fantastic breakfast at the on-site restaurant/coffee shop. The staff at the hotel and at breakfast were amazing. At the tail end of my breakfast, they had started their (impromptu?) local church service in the coffee bar area. I stayed and sang along a few hymns.

We had room 10 with a "mountain view" - it was on the back, with less traffic noise, but the way the room was set up made it only convenient for one person. The queen bed was very close to the wall on one side - hard to get into on that side and what was worse, it had NO bedside table, not even a shelf for glasses or water, no light on that side, etc. Also none of the usual amenities - coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave - so a bit overpriced for what it offered. On the good side, it was very clean (although the odor of the cleaning products was a bit overwhelming and windows had to be left open) and the staff was friendly -

We stayed in the basement room (1 queen and bunkbed) which was perfect for our family of 4 with a dog. The room opens up to a big outdoor area, so it's extremely easy to to take the dog out. There was a small fridge and microwave so we had everything we needed for a night's stay. The only thing to know is that you have to go down two flights of stairs to access the room which may be an issue for some. Would definitely stay here again!

Room was just what we needed, check in was quick and simple, everyone we encountered was super friendly and helpful, food at the rustic table was pretty good. The only thing was the no air conditioning, it was warm even at night and didn’t really cool off until about midnight or 1am. Will definitely be back but when it’s cooler 😜

Mainly stayed here to avoid chain requirements to go to Tahoe. Convenient, quick in n out and surprisingly no freeway noise (I am a light sleeper). Parking lot was full of snow but the staff were kind to showel it away for my parking although I arrived around 8:30 pm.

We enjoyed our stay. We traveled from SF with 2 small kids under 3 and had some time in the snow. It was a 15 min distance from soda spring Borreal which was amazing since the traveling from the city can be exhausting. The property looked decent with its attached Rustic Diner. The Rustic Turkey sandwich was really good my kids loved it. The front desk was very easy, friendly and small talk. The employees were attentive. We didn’t want to go to Reno or pay so much money for 1 night. This was a very lucky place we were able to stay. Auburn is 30 mins away which made it super convenient if needing anything. As we left this morning we had forgotten our headphones and they called us to inform us we left them. They were able to mail it back but just the consideration of them calling us was very kind. So if you want a place to stay for snow or just being in the area definitely a place I would recommend. The building seemed a little old so there are some minor things that the property needs for updates in the room but wouldn’t give it any less.

My room was very nice. The people are friendly and respectful. It was very hot outside and the rooms aren’t air conditioned, but they called me in advance and offered me a full refund if I wanted to cancel. I didn’t cancel and they provided me with a second fan and I was comfortable. I would stay here again.

The staff was beyond helpful! They super accommodating when I made a mistake with my booking dates, helped us with late check in, and helped us print some documents we needed for our vacation. It was so easy to get to the hotel and the bed was incredible comfortable. There’s a cute little cafe attached to the hotel and the free coffee for hotel guests was a nice touch!

Honestly, I typically choose the cheapest hotel option, and just deal with the imperfections. This place was great, and the 3 employees that I interacted with (two when checking in, and our server in the restaurant) were the nicest people possible! Plus - the room had heat that worked, plenty of mini soap bars and shampoos, and enough room to get around. Thanks Sierra Woods!

The only thing I would suggest would be clear signage for the office for check-in but otherwise, it was a great place to stay for the price. It was clean, plenty of towels, and the staff was friendly. And my kids got to play in the snow right outside our room. Hope to return in the summer to enjoy the firepit and outdoor areas. The restaurant was also super convenient.

The office was closed early so we had to wait to check in for our reservation. It was an acceptable place to sleep. The room is tiny and cramped. The sink drain was clogged and there was no way to get help. That’s not acceptable because it was hard to use. The room was lacking some of the usual things that we normally expect like hair dryer, iron, coffee maker, refrigerator. The attached restaurant closed earlier than the posted hour so we couldn’t get anything to eat.

I love coming to Sierra Woods Lodge! I have been coming here for a year now for business! I love the people. They treat me like family. The Restaurant is fantastic! The rooms are comfortable, the showers are large. I really enjoy staying there.

One warning - no liquor license. If you are looking for a quaint mountain retreat this is not the place. If you are looking for a comfortable base while skiing or exploring this places is solid.

Had a nice stay here over the weekend! The staff is very friendly and quickly accommodating to any needs. The lodge is tucked away in a quiet, but not too secluded spot, so it’s very easy to find, yet is in a safe area & away from any busy traffic. The highway is just up the road, but the road noise gets muffled a bit by the forest between - very nice! I’ll stay here again for sure if I’m in the area.

perfect for a quick winter getaway, just 12 miles down the mtns from Royal gorge xc. Simple, quiet, clean, warm room. decent snow in the vicinity too, if only there was access for snowshoeing etc. very good american food at the on site restaurant, The Rustic Table - helping breakfasts too. A convenient and affordable stop on the way to Tahoe. Quaint lodge in a lovely natural setting. The roooms are small a little dated; carpet could be cleaned or replaced. But the bed was comfortable and the shower huge with good water pressure. The breakfast (paid) at the restaurant was very good. Downside: the restaurant was airing a Christian missionary talk at high volume which did not make for a quiet meal. Note, this is hotel is a treatment center for recovering addicts, run by a faith-based organization out of Monterey County (which explains the missionary talk). A worthy cause and a place worth staying.

It would be nice to have an EV charger on site. I’d love to go back but not having charger on site is a deal breaker. Additionally, the food in the restaurant is not good. The french fries didn’t look or tested fresh, meat was undercooked, and it looked like they didn’t know how to time the food so the family can eat together at THE SAME TIME.

First thing, condom wrappers on the floor by the bed. Wife took it to the office; they didn't do anything or offer anything. Next, no microwave, no little refrigerator and no coffee in the room. The restaurant was pretty good, and when the waiter asked about our room we told him about the condom, he felt so bad for how the staff responded that he gave us free breakfast.
First thing, condom wrappers on the floor by the bed. Wife took it to the office; they didn't do anything or offer anything. Next, no microwave, no little refrigerator and no coffee in the room. The bed was nice, pillows were fluffy. The restaurant was pretty good, and when the waiter asked about our room we told him about the condom, he felt so bad for how the staff responded that he gave us free breakfast.

For the price the place is totally out dated. We ate at the restaurant and the soup was warm at best. We would not go back here’s again.

Wonderful place to stay. The restaurant and coffee shop was wonderful to have onsite. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. And everything was so clean.

What a sweet place and a far cry from cookie-cutter low end motels. Beautiful location, nice rooms, and a very nice restaurant on premises. The motel is a project of a recovery program called Teen Challenge so it's a bonus to support them but the motel stands on its own as a 'find' off Highway 80. Highly recommended

The room was advertised as two queens. We got two double beds. One was comfortable, the one by the window was not. The room has no air conditioning. It was cool outside (in the low 60's). When we got there the window was open, but the room was warm and stuffy. We left the window open all night and the room never cooled off. The rooms are all ground level and I'm guessing most people would not be comfortable leaving a large window to their room wide open while they sleep. I doubt I'll stay there again.
