Hotel is near to restaurants in the heart of Gion. Staff speaks good English and you are entitled to a free drink from the lobby bar each evening. Pillows were really flat and uncomfortable. Bed mattress is hard.

The hotel is located in Gion on a quiet street . Walkable to a lot of temples and Gion tourist shopping street is also very close. Fish market and restaurants are right across the river. The room is comfortable, was upgraded to a garden view but it’s not really a garden if it’s only a 3 feet deep garden ousdie of the window that facing walls of other buildings, you can never see the sky in that room. We usually call that room with no view. The only problem tho is that if you want late check out will be a charge but there’s no storage for luggages. You can only leave them at a corner unattended which doesn’t seem so safe. Staffs are friendly

Small but awesome inn within walking distance of main Gion shopping street. Super nice staff and friendly bartender. Room and incredible wet room shower/ bath room and separate ultra high end toilet that was worth the stay by itself. Nice and quiet.

Our stay was amazing! Gion Misen Furumonzen was a great introduction to Kyoto. The location is a hidden gem while conveniently located across the street from a Lawson convenience store. The little bar was a sweet addition to the experience. This was by far the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in (in the world). The staff were considerate and helpful. We loved it so much, we booked an extra night. 10/10 recommend this hotel.

Our room was beautiful and very clean. I would definitely stay here again. They have a lounge downstairs so you can enjoy complimentary coffee in the morning. Very nice hotel, with a more traditional design.

This property was lovely. The staff were quite friendly, spoke English very well and we’re very helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean and the neighborhood is great. I forgot about VIP status so I don’t believe we received anything special. The hotel did have tea and water available, but I believe that was for everybody.

While the surrounding area almost made my wife turn around (neighboring buildings looked rundown). While entering the hotel she was quickly calmed. The hotel and room itself was very clean and everything looked pristine and new. Best location with just a few meters to gion the beautiful gion street and a few minute walk to food and shopping.

I stayed here for two nights over my honeymoon two years ago and was over the moon about this location. Therefore, when we came back to fully experience Kyoto we thought coming back here was a no-brainer. We were wrong. Therr were several spiders in our room, room cleaning was very minimal (they only replaced the body towels and disposables as well as emptying the trashcans), the room was extremely dusty and dirty (coffee stains) on the walls and ceilings, they also never refilled our water. Unsure if and how things have changed, but for the price I don’t think I would recommend for a long stay. For a short stay, the space is nice and very spacious with a large tub which was nice after all the walking.

Overall an OK small hotel but pillows are horrible. Seems like a very easy fix but after many years of reviews about pillows they are still about as thick as a pair of socks. Room smelled damp. We had another 3 days in Kyoto but decided to move to another hotel.

Excellent petit hôtel dans un quartier calme et très interessant avec petites rues, petits restaurants et magasins mais pas loin d’animation de Kyoto. Chambre très confortable avec excellent espace sanitaire très propre et bien équipé. Personnel très attentif. Petit déjeuner occidental simple mais bon avec option japonais en réservant à l’hôtel partenaire à cinq minutes de marche. Nous recommandons sans hésitation.

Great location, most things are walkable. The room itself is ok, the hotel is generous enough to give us upgrade to a garden room but it’s not really a garden just a space between buildings that had couple plants that’s smaller than a normal balcony, because the garden room is on ground floor surrounded by high buildings so you never got to see the sky and it’s dark. The mattress is on the floor but the floor has some funny smell kinda smell like dirty feet. All the staffs are super friendly and nice, but the restaurant recommendation are questionable. So make sure do your homework, they are happy to help you to make reservations.

Such an amazing hotel, our favourite place we stayed by a mile. It's a lovely small boutique hotel but the rooms were very spacious. The bed was so comfortable, great amenities and the shower was amazing. This was our favourite place we stayed during our entire trip

I really enjoyed this hotel. Compared to general room sizes in Japan, my room had great space and it was kind of a traditionally designed place. All the amenities offered were high quality and the room was so clean. Staff is very helpful. Location is also great, 6 minutes walking distance to Sanjo station and it was mostly flat. I will for sure stay here when I visit Kyoto again. Thank you!

We wanted to book somewhere comfortable at the start of our trip knowing we’d be tired after 24 hours of travel and this was perfect. Location wise, we could walk to most of the places we wanted to see, the team were so friendly, accommodating and helpful and the room itself was stunning and so comfortable with tons of storage. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay

This small hotel located on a quiet street in Gion. It is very convenient to walk to different tourist spots in central Kyoto and just a min walk to subway and regional train stations. The room is small but clean and neat. Bathroom is well equipped and nice for whole day of walking. Staff are helpful and friendly. I would love to stay here again.

We left the key in the room and needed the receptionist to let us in. She made us another key. We asked for two keys when we checked in but we’re told we could only have one. To our surprise they charged us 1000 yen and refused to give me a receipt for the charge. We had to pay cash. What a disappointment and rip off. There are numerous wonderful hotels here. Don’t waste your time with this place.

No option for a Japanese breakfast, which is a shame. Our breakfast was terrible for the price and the small quantities. We left one day at 7AM and came back at 3PM and we noticed they did not clean the room. They then tried to enter after 3PM when we were in the room telling them not to enter (they did anyway)

Fantastic location in Gion About a 8 minute walk to the closest station. Fantastic shower. Very helpful staff and helped arranged delivery of our baggage to the next location we travelled. Gave us recommendations for local restaurants.

It was a great Japanese-style boutique hotel. A French receptionist was very friendly and professional. Japanese staff gave used umbrellas to us since it was raining when we checked out. Walking distance to Gion and many restaurants.

It was a great Japanese-style boutique hotel. A French receptionist was very friendly and professional. Japanese staff gave used umbrellas to us since it was raining when we checked out. Walking distance to Gion and many restaurants.

Our stay was amazing! Gion Misen Furumonzen was a great introduction to Kyoto. The location is a hidden gem while conveniently located across the street from a Lawson convenience store. The little bar was a sweet addition to the experience. This was by far the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in (in the world). The staff were considerate and helpful. We loved it so much, we booked an extra night. 10/10 recommend this hotel.

I really enjoyed this hotel. Compared to general room sizes in Japan, my room had great space and it was kind of a traditionally designed place. All the amenities offered were high quality and the room was so clean. Staff is very helpful. Location is also great, 6 minutes walking distance to Sanjo station and it was mostly flat. I will for sure stay here when I visit Kyoto again. Thank you!

The best place we stayed while on our trip. We will be staying here every time we visit Kyoto in the future. The room was great, just enough space and gave that Japanese experience with the feel of Western amenities. The staff was incredible, answering a lot of our questions about Japan. Close to the subway station, close to the bus station; overall I can't recommend this place enough.

This small hotel located on a quiet street in Gion. It is very convenient to walk to different tourist spots in central Kyoto and just a min walk to subway and regional train stations. The room is small but clean and neat. Bathroom is well equipped and nice for whole day of walking. Staff are helpful and friendly. I would love to stay here again.

The perfect location! A short walk to some amazing restaurants and attractions, whilst still being in a very quiet street. Staff were great, hotel was cozy and quiet, more traditional bedding lower to the floor so just be mindful if you have back issues. No issues for us, super comfy stay and for 4 nights it was ideal for us.

It’s a cosy hotel to stay in Kyoto which is near to Yasaka Shrine, Nishiki Market, shopping areas and train stations. Staff are friendly and speak good English. Will definitely stay here again when I come back to Kyoto.

Fantastic location in Gion About a 8 minute walk to the closest station. Fantastic shower. Very helpful staff and helped arranged delivery of our baggage to the next location we travelled. Gave us recommendations for local restaurants.

Charming little hotel in northern Gion. Super convenient location for us during our stay in Kyoto, as it’s within walking distance of Gion and Higashiyama. And with Sanjo station nearby, making trips to other parts of Kyoto, as well as Nara and Osaka, was also easy. Thanks for helping to make our first trip to Kyoto unforgettable!

Hotel is near to restaurants in the heart of Gion. Staff speaks good English and you are entitled to a free drink from the lobby bar each evening. Pillows were really flat and uncomfortable. Bed mattress is hard.

The hotel is a very pleasant place located in the Gion quarter not far from major attractions in Kyoto. The room was convenient and pleasantly decorated with beds close to the floor in the more traditional Japanese style. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast could be improved by making it in buffet style and not preparing a uniform plate that may not suite the taste of everyone.

Trés bel hôtel, à taille humaine, bien situé mais déçus par le petit dejeuner qu'il soit occidental ou japonnais. Des difficultés d'échange de mail pour réserver les premiers petits déjeuners.

No option for a Japanese breakfast, which is a shame. Our breakfast was terrible for the price and the small quantities. We left one day at 7AM and came back at 3PM and we noticed they did not clean the room. They then tried to enter after 3PM when we were in the room telling them not to enter (they did anyway)

Excellent petit hôtel dans un quartier calme et très interessant avec petites rues, petits restaurants et magasins mais pas loin d’animation de Kyoto. Chambre très confortable avec excellent espace sanitaire très propre et bien équipé. Personnel très attentif. Petit déjeuner occidental simple mais bon avec option japonais en réservant à l’hôtel partenaire à cinq minutes de marche. Nous recommandons sans hésitation.

Our room was beautiful and very clean. I would definitely stay here again. They have a lounge downstairs so you can enjoy complimentary coffee in the morning. Very nice hotel, with a more traditional design.

If you’re looking for a clean hotel, this is it. The beds although slightly uncomfortable to us would benefit from larger pillows, it’s a personal preference, but you’ll be happy to have 3 of them! The AC didn’t go lower than 20, again it’s personal preference, but if you sleep hot, then AC is must! The bathrooms were perfect and the amenities spot on! On arrival there was a large group that took the latest spot for breakfast, all of them! Meaning you had NO choice other than wake up early or make other plans. This isn’t why I go on vacation, the hotels response was “you should have booked a time when we emailed you in April” I understand space is limited, but not great business to let one party take an entire time slot. Not a reason to not stay, but bare that in mind if you’re expecting them to refund the breakfast option as they didn’t, but offered us two drinks which although were appreciated, we spent more each day grabbing breakfast out. It’s a love/dislike review based on this one incident, but it affected our vacation and I only get one each year.

There was certainly nothing wring with our stay. The location is perfect, the staff friendly and helpful, the room nicely designed and confy, huge tub/shoer combo.. The are only 2 things that keeps this from being a five star review, small but daily annoyances. First ... water. You're given one bottle on check in, but its never refilled. Getting your daily water from the front desk is a daily routine. (Its likewise with the coffee filter and ginger ale btw, but we never bothered asking for more). Second ... pillows. They are low quality, tiny and worn out. It was a stark contrast from our previous hotels who provided one rice hull and one stuffed pillow for each guest.

My husband and I stayed here for one night during our first visit to Kyoto. While the location appeared convenient when we booked, we found that it was not nearly as central or convenient for sightseeing as we had expected. Unfortunately, the accommodations were also disappointing, especially considering the price. Both the property and our room felt very small and cramped. The windows did not have adequate blinds or coverings, which made the room extremely bright, and the bed was very uncomfortable. We had originally booked a two-night stay, but after getting very little sleep the first night, we decided to move to another hotel. Before making that decision, we specifically asked about canceling our second night and were told that we would receive a full refund for that night. However, when we checked out, we were only refunded the tax rather than the cost of the room as we had been told. This was particularly frustrating because we relied on the information provided by the hotel when deciding to leave early. Overall, we felt this hotel was significantly overpriced for the location, room size, and level of comfort provided. The poor night’s sleep was disappointing enough, but the way the refund was handled made the experience even more frustrating. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not stay here again.
